The zealot Barbarian cannot die while raging starting level 14. However, all Barbarians before that have Relentless Rage, and instead of falling to 0 HP, they make a Con save to return back to 1 HP. Also, the Half-Orc has Relentless Endurance, allowing him to also roll a Con save or return to 1 HP. And finally, a level 1 Shadow Sorcerer has Strength of the Grave, further allowing them to make a Con save or return to 1 HP.

Here's how the skills work:

Rage Beyond Death: Cannot die while raging
Relentless Rage: DC 10, +5 to the DC for each time they use this trait
Relentless Endurance: Just go back to 1 HP automatically, 1/LR
Strength of the Grave: DC = 5 + Damage taken, 1/LR

How do these things interact? How would we create a build from this (and from other combat immortality builds)?

Increasing CON saves will indirectly help all of those abilities as well

I believe that the strength of the grave is charisma based on the zanathers guide. It was con based on the UA version though. It might not be great if your going for a con based immortal barbarian unless they got good charisma saves. Otherwise, this idea is cool. A cleric could cast death ward on the undying barbarian for an extra layer of defense.

Can confirm. Am playing an Oathbreaker X/Hexblade1/Shadow Sorc 1. Xan's was a pretty nice upgrade for my SADness.

Hmm so you whould still die if the killing is strong enough to kill you outright or if it's power word kill.

A Zealot 14 gets Rage Beyond Death, preventing them from falling unconscious from 0 hp or dying while raging.

At 15, they dont end their rage unless they choose to or fall unconscious(which is stopped by 14).

This 15th level ability can be read to make rage extend past the 1 minute duration, but assuming it doesn't you would die when your last rage ends, at 15th level you have 5 rages at 1 minute each.

At 20th level the barbarian has unlimited rages, and therefore can never die or fall unconscious from 0 hp unless they choose to, or they get knocked unconscious from an effect other than falling to 0hp.

Also: UA Revenant: a subrace that every race has, though it specifies against using it for half-elf/orc: https://dnd.wizards.com/sites/default/files/media/upload/articles/UA%20Gothic%20Characters.pdf

You cant die until you accomplish your objective. If you do, you just reform 24 hours later.

There is a spell called invulnerability which literally makes you immune to all damage in Zanathars guide. Though this is not a build per say I think it fits the theme of immortality.
