Baron Fatbelly Eating Contest! Game Started!

Every year people from across the world come together at Gourmand Central to compete in the famous Baron Fatbelly Eating Contest! It's a test of endurance more than speed, as some of the food can leave a bad taste in the mouth...

The idea of this game is simple:

1: All players start off with 5 Munchies.

2: Every day (at least 5 x week) I will announce an edible item.

3: Players then have one of 3 options:

- Eat the food (resulting in an increase or reduction in Munchies)
- Refuse the food (no reduction or increase in Munchies)
- Force it onto someone else (They get the increase or decrease, but you have to deal with the consequences/Recriminations!)

These actions are NOT PM'd to me, they are put on the forum for all participants to see, allowing for dirty tricks and people to get back at each other.

4: Before announcing the next food item I will announce the previous ones affects, and the current point totals of the players.

5: When a player drops to negative Munchies they’re out of the game (in whatever outrageous fashion they see fit).

6: The first person to gather 50 Munchies is the winner and will be awarded the title and sig picture of Baron Fatbelly! (personalised image from me)

7: Non-posters will act as if they refused the food, and will be liable to have iffy sounding food thrust upon them!

8: I will occasionally throw in random events as I see fit to stir things up.

You all stand in the huge banqueting hall at Baron Fatbelly's mansion, eying up the competition. You hear the booming sound of heavy footsteps from far off, but coming closer, they're loud enough to hurt your ears. The double doors at the far end of the hall slide open revealing a 7 foot tall bearded man, with a belly almost the same width as the door. His face is friendly, yet there is a certain sadistic glint in his eye...

"Ah this years competitors," he booms, with a deep voice that you believe could topple mountains. "So you think you've got what it takes to win my contest eh? Well we will soon see. Make yourselves comfortable, my servants will bring you the first item for your delectation Monday 10AM.(GMT)You will have two days to decide whether to eat it or not. Prepare yourselves well!

The above is true, we'll start now!

The clock at above the double doors starts to chime 10am, and many of you have to shake yourselves awake after the long wait. No sooner have the chimes died down the Baron himself strolls through the door. Following him are two bow-legged servants, awkwardly carrying a huge silver platter between them. On it is the largest boar you’ve ever seen, spit roasted to perfection, its crisp skin crackling as the servants set it down in the centre of the table.

“This is the biggest boar in the whole of my estate, cooked to crispy goodness to celebrate the start of this years contest. Gorge yourselves on it….or don’t, the choice is yours. The next course will arrive Monday morning.”

Baron Fatbelly and his servants leave the hall, and the succulent aroma of the roast beast invades your nostrils with a vengeance. So what do you do?

3 options:

- Gorge yourself
- Refuse
- Force your portion onto another competitor

Those of you that partake in the roasted boar taste the most succulent meat you have ever had the privilege to eat, and those that have extra portions thrust upon them dig into them with genuine relish. The few of you that passed up the Baron’s first course watch in growing annoyance at passing up the meat, it’s hard to tell how much the competitors are drooling and how much is the juices of the boar! Safe to say this first course is very good indeed.

To your horror the next course arrives almost immediately, most of you are still licking the last bit of juice off your fingers when the Baron enters.

“I hope you all enjoyed the first course! Those of you that didn’t may be more enamoured with this next delectable treat!”

Behind the Baron comes the sound of footsteps, mixed in with the unnerving sound of dozens of high pitched inhuman wails. Four servants come past the Baron, each holding a tray of half a dozen delicious looking Strawberry Ice Cream Sundaes, one is placed in front of each of you. You realise with mounting confusion that the inhuman wailing is eliciting from the Sundaes in front of you! The Baron seems amused by the growing horror on your faces.

“Behold! This is the rarest dairy product in the whole kingdom; it is made only from the milk of the most traumatised and sorrowful of cattle! Feel free to partake in these Strawberry Ice Scream Sundaes, if you dare! The next course will be bought in on Wednesday.”

The Baron and his servants leave the hall, leaving each of you with a dairy product in front of you that screams like you’ve already taken a bite! Do you go for it?

Time Over!

More suspicious of this second course, many of you decide that it’s better to see what it does to your competitors rather than risking your own stomachs. The Salmon, Castaras and Andre are buried under a small mountain of screaming Sundaes, but tuck into them with relish, the dessert screaming even louder as they shovel it in. Despite the unpleasant backing track, the Sundaes really do taste fine. Pwnet, Evnafets and Atreyu take a more conservative line, placating the dessert and talking through its problems. Freakishly, the Sundaes do actually quieten down before being eaten, but they taste a bit bland now that the screaming has stopped. It must have been their sorrow that gave them their taste! Stu42, having refused his Sundae, stands on the sidelines waiting impatiently for the next course.

The screams of the Sundaes are just dying down, when another of your senses is accosted by the next course. A strong smell hits your nostrils, the strongest cheese you have ever smelt, it’s already making your eyes water, and it’s not even in the room yet! Baron Fatbelly wobbles in, a peg on his nose.

“Had enough of my Screaming Sundaes have you? Very well, maybe you’ll like something a bit more savoury.”

Again the servants come in, this time they are wearing gas masks…it really doesn’t fill you with confidence. Your stomachs are grumbling and rolling from the stench of the huge wheel of cheese that is placed in the centre of the table, gangrene has nothing on this thing. The cheese is a rich creamy yellow and has holes all over the place, in fact it seems like the cheese should collapse it is that precariously structured. It might smell bad but it looks pretty good!

“This is the world famous Quirm Cheese, all the way from the mythical Discworld. Don’t worry about the holes; I can assure you there aren’t any worms left in there any more! Good eating everyone, your next course will arrive tomorrow.”

The Baron laughs as he leaves the hall, a sound like an obese giant clearing its throat. You are left with the giant Quirm Cheese, do you take a small slice, or is the smell too much?

Cheese lovers chow down readily to their portion of Quirm’s best, Castaras’ sign nets her several portions, whilst the Salmon also gets an armload! To begin with your stomachs bulge from the heavy creamy cheesy goodness, but then things start to go wrong. The holes in the cheese have a startling effect on your digestive system, they seem to open it up completely, and those of you that ate it are soon fighting to use the bathroom first! Castaras, Raiser and Salmon are in there a good while, and everyone comes out looking a little sick and much hungrier than before! Those of you that passed on the cheese look on with an evil glint in their eyes.

Castaras and Salmon have just about sat themselves back down at the table when the Baron strides in, a jaunty chefs hat perched on his round head. No servants this time, but the Baron holds a platter of the largest pizza you’ve ever seen.

“Have you had enough of my Quirm Cheese, the most powerful laxative known to man? Well this is my special recipe, my world famous Kaleidoscopic Pizza!”

He sets the pizza down on the table. It smells wonderful, a mixture of every smell from every pizza you’ve ever tasted, and looking at the topping, that’s not surprising. It seems as if the Baron has used everything you could possibly put on top of a pizza, no square inch of the pizza is the same as any other. There are even a few ingredients you don’t recognise, hidden beneath mountains of cheese, pineapple and mushrooms.

“This is a kind of lottery; every taste of my Kaleidoscopic Pizza is different! To eat, or not to eat, that is the question! Your next course will arrive on Saturday!”

The Baron strides out, eating the chef’s hat that was before on his head. You are left with the most amazing pizza known to man, but do you risk a taste?

Refuse the pizza
Force your helping onto another

This is looking quite fun, but mainly because of the RP element. It might be more fun if there was a puzzle/riddle in it whereby you could determine what was good to eat and what was bad. Something like Queen Anne's riddle, but unique to every game. Otherwise it's just a bit of RP fun, but the winning or losing is a bit random.

It's more of a psychological game at the moment - just trying to double guess the narrator, and a few people trying to gang up on the winners. No real gam play though.

Thats a good idea actually, I'm going to have to work out a mechanic for what wins when someone wants to eat something that's being stolen though! Being the first round I'm just going for the fairly simple approach, but if this is popular enough for me to run it a 2nd time then that will definitely be in there.

I'm not much good at riddles :smallfrown: I don't think I'd be able to make them hard enough to be useful! There is a little bit of reason to it, but I admit this is basically gang mentality and a guessing game put together! I am definitely going to make changes for Baron Fatbelly II, but I kind of like the random element.

Time Over!

Most of you decide that the pizza looks too good to pass up, and chow down with significant relish. As the tastes start to kick in, there are an equal number of smiles of delight and nauseating green faces, it seems as if it really is random as to how good or bad each participants portion is! Well that's the nature of the most interesting of pizzas! A few of you decide to just nibble the crust, which is indeed filled with cheese, find it to be tasty, but not the most filling of meals.

The Salmon gulps down 2 portions of great pizza, pushing him into a comfortable lead. Andre and Cassie are looking on the edge of being sick as the Baron walks in again, a trio of servants behind him carrying a platter covered with a red silk cloth. The servants place it on the table and remove the cloth, revealing a massive Stargazy Pie, with entire prawns and fish poking out of the thick top-crust.

“ Looks as if my pizza didn't finish any of you off! You thouh Salmon look to be getting quite fat, maybe I shall use you in a future course!”

The Baron laughs heartily as he cuts the pie into enough pieces for all participants. Inside the pie are a plethora of goodies, potatoes, kidney, pork, beef, chicken, fish, carrots and mushrooms are the most identifiable things.

“This is another of my own creations, the tastiest pie in the kingdom! So come on take a bite, or even better take two!"

The Baron strides out, eating the fish head from teh top of the pie. You are left with a huge pie with obviously supreme ingredients, but do you risk one taste, or two?

This game looks more and more fun with every dish. I think though that its strength lies not in the game itself (since there isn't that much to the rules) so much as to the games master/narrator.

I'm almost tempted to join. However I think watching is as much fun as playing.

A little suspicious of the Baron’s creations, many of you take a single bite just to be nice, while some of you decide to pass it on to be on the safe side. Those of you that take just a single bite find the pie initially quite tasty, but a horrible aftertaste of bile sets in almost immediately, making you feel more than a little ill and it sets your stomach badly on edge. However, for those of you that manage to get past the first horrible taste, the second bite and those afterwards are genuinely heavenly, and you soon put the initial bad taste behind you. Stargazy Pie truly is divine!

The Baron arrives soon after the last portion of pie is gobbled down with a vengeance, his stomach rolling and wobbling under a brand new chef’s apron. On it is a picture of a grinning orange fish, unknowingly under a falling chef’s cleaver. He lifts the cover on his latest creation, a beautifully presented Salmon Soufflé!

“The Almighty Salmon gave me a fantastic idea for this next course, so good that I decided not to use him as an ingredient! So here you are, the most beautiful looking dish I can create, behold my Salmon Souffle!"

The Almighty Salmon look sat the dish in horror, and is about to shout at the Baron, but his huge behind is already disappearing through the halls double doors. The rest of you don’t see the problem, the Barons sixth course looks divine! But is the soufflé too good to be true?

After making the Almighty Salmon queasy by shoving his cooked comrade under his nose, most of you eat the soufflé with gusto. It’s light and fluffy of texture, but has a secret density that hits as it enters your stomach, it’s quite filling! The Salmon looks on in nauseated disgust, plotting his revenge on the Baron, getting queasier as competitors continue to force him into cannibalism!

The Almighty Salmon has to excuse himself to go to the bathroom, and is in there for some time. By the time he comes out the Baron has already strode in, grinning widely and looking even fatter than usual. There are a score of servants arrayed behind him, each carrying a red silk cloth.

“Enjoy my soufflé did you? Well let’s see what you make of the next course, without being able to see or smell it!”

Each servant moves forward to blindfold a competitor and place a peg on their nose, before a clank in front of them indicates the next dish has been delivered. While the smell is dulled a lot by the peg, there is a rich savoury scent in the air, though it is impossible to identify the exact smell. You put your hands out and feel a small bowl in front of each of you, hot to the touch. Dipping your finger in carefully, it feels like thick liquid with pieces of something in it, but it’s impossible to tell what until you take a taste.

“Are you brave enough to try this next dish on trust alone? It really is up to you...but I can tell you one thing, it’s definitely not salmon!”

That Baron laughs as you here him and his troupe of servants leaving the hall. You’re left with a conundrum, try the mystery dish or refuse it for safety?

I don't think the Baron is feeding us for our enjoyment...And has anyone else noticed that he's growing?" Artemis decides to refuse to eat something she cannot see or smell.

Ezlo continues to chant while banging his fork and knife on the table.

He throws his bowl at a random contestant.

Fullbladder reaches out in a sound-delegated direction and smacks Ezlo or someone near him across the back of the head. The large mechanical hand connecting with some force to the cranium very hopefully did some damage.

"Technically I don't have a nose. And besides, my 'stomach' is a vat of battery acid somewhere in my torso. What can go wrong?"

With that, the purple eating machine eats his mystery portion!

Time Over!

Most of you laugh at the risk and dig into the mystery dish with relish, deciding that bravery is the bets way to go. The Almighty Salmon again get’s swamped with portions as Onasuma and Fleeing Coward intentionally force their dishes down his throat. Dr Bath & Evnafets take a single taste, its Mushroom Casserole, and the single bite leaves you vaguely unfulfilled and longing for more. Those of you that eat the whole casserole find it much more filling, though strangely the dishes that are forced upon you just don’t seem to taste as good.

Taking your blindfolds and pegs off, you see that two of the animals at the table, Llama and Salmon, are full with food, while the dashing Andre’s stomach is also almost as distended. Conversely, Korias still looks in need of a good feed. The Baron soon waddles in, his stomach balanced on what looks like a modified supermarket trolley. A number of skinny servants follow him, carrying trays of creamy pies, like the ones you’ve seen clowns throw at each other on TV. The servants set one down in front of each competitor.

“Did you like my Mystery Mushroom Casserole? I can see a lot of you did, Mr Salmon is looking fat…..and juicy…..and…..no matter! This next course is simple really. These are my Super Citrus Lemon Pies, perfect for food fights as you can see from my jaunt in Camp Sleeps-A-Lot! But maybe eating them would be of more benefit? Well that’s for me to know and you to find out!”

The Baron laughs deeply as he leaves, drowning out the squeaking wheels holding his bulking belly. He shouts one more thing before the doors close.

“Aim well; try not to get any pie on my walls!”

So, the choice is yours, indulge yourself in a food fight, or see what the pies are like?

4 options:

Eat the pie
Throw your pie at someone
Dodge all pie flinging (any pie thrown at you misses)
Throw your pie at the Barons walls!
