So I have a halfling sorcerer (Meta magic specialist)/Fight (armored mage) whos back story is he was captured and pretty much tortued to the point of his native tongue being mental broken in his head. (captors didnt like halfling languge) and speaks mostly in common now. So mr halfling is now not so cheerful and happy as normal halflings are more of a screw em they are unlearned etc.
I have slowly been leveling and notice a trend. Im doing allot of "dark" spells.

Power Word Pain
Toothed Tentacle
ManyJaws
Evard's Black Tentacles
Blackwater Tentacle

So i figured maybe I should become a Illithid or follow one etc. we are doing 3.5 dnd with core books no magizines or 3rd party books.

Is there a class that lets me become one or empower toward there power level? Any other suggested spells or ideas would also be great.

While there is a magazine 5-level class that does exactly what you want, turn a former or current slave of mind flayers into a illithid-like creature, I don't know of one in core. The closest I see is primeval, which you could use to wildshape into a medium squid or octopus. But that's a terrible class for your build.

No problem man! Just means I got to look a bit harder then I already have and see what I can do.

If you could retrain your levels into something more psionic, you could take some Illithid heritage feats, or take levels in the Thrallherd or Mindbender class.

You could get yourself Illithid grafts from the Fiend Folio.

You could take levels in Alienist, which is arcane magic based and somewhat close thematically.

Otherwise, you could take to polymorphing yourself into an Illithid from time to time, and take more mind warping spells when you level up. You could eventually wish yourself (wish usage from Savage Species) into an Illithid or half Illithid.

If you're set on being an arcanist instead of a psionic, try and convince the DM to let you adapt the Illithid Heritage feats and Flayerspawn Psychic PrC from Complete Psionic.

Also, don't forget Dragon Compendium's Illithid Bloodline feat, it will give you the enchantment spells you need for a true Illithid flavor.

Dragon 296 is where the Illithidkin PrC is to be found, but IMO it's rather meh. 5 levels, SLA's instead of proper spellcasting, change type to Monstrous Humanoid (not even to proper Aberration!). Yeah, I'll pass, I'd rather get a ton of grafts and the Illithid related feats and try to convince the DM to allow a Wish / PAO to change my type.
