Gish cohort

So I've been building a lv25 fiend of possession character and I am now possesing a powerful legacy weapon, now all I need is someone to weild it. I have 21 levels of cohort to work with and all I know for sure is I want it to be a half decent caster and good enough to weild me in melee

The caster thing is less than mandatory but I would certainly like the cohort to be moderately tanky with heavy hitting

Also don't put full builds. Put ideas in and ways to get those things earlier than normal. I will likely have very different opinions and then need to tear it apart so I can get it to work the way I'd like

you might try Crusader OR Paladin / Sorcerer, and then be sure to get ABJURANT CHAMPION because it is THE PRC FOR GISHES. Ahem. Mainly because it grants full BaB, Full Spell Progression, and makes up for lost caster levels as a capstone.
