...is the question I think that I need to ask.

Quintessence encapsulating Simulacrum parts is the excercise this question came from.

Several spells require physical remains Raise Dead, Clone, etc.

Also curious, are there any other creature's whose remains are destroyed when they die? Are there any other spells besides ressurection magics and Clone that require physical remains?

it stops LoE.

simulacrum does not require loe.

anything with death throes such as a balor will destroy its remains.

hide life is a buff, but it also requires a slice of you.

Does the fact that one could technically poke through the Quintessence and touch the contained remains change anything?

if the spell is touch, fine, but if not, then no, you need to scrape enough goo off to zap your target
