Don't beat me up. I like comics, I just don't know them very well. Which is why I'm asking for help. Certain forum-going friends of mine are working on a "magazine", and I've been signed on to do the cover art. I want to do a comicbook style person, seen from below in a rather intimidating pose, kinda like this:

but of the old-stylish look, with the dark scratchy lines, kinda sorta like this:

Yes, I know these examples are crappy, which is why I'm asking for help. Can anyone find me a decent reference picture? I've never tried to draw anything like this, and I'm gonna need something pretty close to what I'm trying to get at if it's gonna look any good.

Some artists you'll want to look up: Jack Kirby, John Romita Sr., John Buscema, Sal Buscema, and Jim Steranko. Walt Simonson and Erik Larsen are younger artists who emulate Kirby's style, and it's possible you'll find a better example for the pose you want with one of them. Jim Steranko is probably the best old-school candidate I can think of, especially for his Nick Fury covers and character designs.

Also, this (http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/) would be a good place to look around.

Would you believe I can't find a decent DC chin anywhere? :smallsigh: Thanks though, guys, they're pretty helpful (although... Minoriteam?:smallconfused:)

Would you believe I even looked there? That site's always worth another glance, though...
