One of the best ways to make characters a little bit stronger is to give them minor magic items. But what about nonmagical gear? The PHB has lots of interesting stuff, like locks, battering rams, sledgehammers, and grappling hooks. What have you come up with that is a nonmagical tool for players to use?

Here are some examples:
Hobnailed Boots. These boots have sturdy iron nails pounded into their soles, making them more resilient and giving better foot protection. The boots have 15 hit points. When you would take damage through your feet, the boots take half of the damage, and you take the other half. When the boots are reduced to 0 HP, they are destroyed. A creature proficient in cobbler's tools can restore 3HP to the boots with a minute of work using their tools.

Wand of Sharpness This wand functions as an arcane focus. In addition it is sharpened to a point on one end. The wand is a simple melee weapon with the light and finesse properties that deals 1d4 piercing damage on hit. If you are proficient with daggers, you are proficient with the wand of sharpness.
