I am currently playing a character that is 5 rogue (swashbuckler) and 1 fighter. I have both green flame and booming blade from magic initiate and my attack style focuses in running in, single big attack then escaping.
the campaign is likely to get to level 15 and u wonder which balance of rogue/fighter level to go for. I plan on going battlemaster unless someone has a convincing reason not to. this will give me access to riposte, trip and feint to make me a great duelist.
I am currently leaning toward 8 levels of fighter for 3 ASI (including even accuracy feat potentially) and 7 levels of rogue. the only issue is that extra attack is kind of redundant due to my use of attack cantrips. on the other hand an extra expertise and panache doesn't appeal to me, and evasion just seems dull and doesn't fit a melee specialist.
