Hi, and welcome to The Sticks Awards: The Best of the Hundred!

The Sticks Awards are given to the best strips of all times, chosen by the polls here in the Playground. Read the The Sticks Awards Results Compilation (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791) thread for more details and previous results.

This is a run-off, between the 2 winners of the last poll. To vote, simply post your favorite one of these 2 on the thread. You have 3 days to do it.

The poll will close on August 27, 09:45 AM forum default time.

I vote 226 because original humour is so pre-postmodernism

202 still. 226 I thought was one of the weaker ones.

226 for me, and here's why:

202 is a boring strip with an awesome punchline, while 226 is insanely funny all the way through. It's one of the only strips (along with 387 and a couple others) where I never stopped laughing as I read it.

As I said first time rould, I'll vote for the OOTS strip when voting 'Best of OOTS'. It can only be 202.

Abbot and Costello are definitely tops on the humour list, but they are not OOTS.

I have to go with 226 on this one, mainly because of my love of the works of Abbot and Costello.

202, for reasons explained in the other thread. 226 is recycled humor.

Tough call. After much deliberation, I'll put my vote in for 202. As much as I love 226, I can't vote for the Abbot and Costello tribute strip. I'll go for the original joke over the send up.

202 - That sheet of lead turned into a great running gag,. I practically died when he knocked her out with it later on, so I've got to give some love to the original.

202. Im not telling you why. ok, i will... Its because of the fact that 226, like many others have noted, is not exactly original.

226, but I know I'm on the loosing side.

I guess it was a battle between the crowd that thought that 226 was the most amusing thing available, but thought it derivative, and those that thought that 226 was the most amusing and didn't care.

I know!! I'll have to go find the original work that 202 is based on. It sure sounds like language used in South Park promotions.

Still 226. Enough Belkar already!

I clearly do not understand.
I didn't think 202 was the best of the final 4
I didn't think 202 was the best of the 25
I didn't even think it was the best of the 5.
What am I missing?

I agree with you, but the "stop oppressing my culture, you ethnocentric bitch!" line is more popular than all of 226 put together, somehow. Sigh...

(That said, it is a great line, but really, come on. Boring strip with awesome punchline, or a strip that is hilarious all the way through? There's no competition in my mind.)

226 is better, but it's not an OotS joke, therefore not the best of OotS

Depending on definition, ...
a) there is no such thing as an OOTS joke because every joke in the comic is lifted from this or that source or sources. [There has not been an original joke in several thousand years.]
b) 226 is very much an OOTS joke because it has been adapted to fit with the comic.

226 is overally big good joke, but lead sheet is one quick jump into the history of OotS.

Let me refine that
It is not a joke I originally heard in the context of the comic strip, therefore while it may or may not be original, 202 is an OoTS joke.
226 is an imported and adapted joke that while still good, is like importing and adapting Druss the Legend into a D&D universe.
Awesome idea and still cool, but not original.
