The last strip with Belkar assuming that V was playing a trick on them.

In the final panel, it seemed that he was worried.

He has feelings other than anger!

Yes indeed. He also has lust and self-pity.

I would rather call this disbelief. Rather familiar scene in literature/movies. Very well done nevertheless.

He isnt worried or afraid as much as hes really annoyed. Hes going to have to hide in a city full of enemies he cant kill while carrying Roy body for who know how much time!

I disbelieve the illusion! :smalltongue:

This is from "Origin of PCs"
Belkar admit that he need OoTS to protect him. Belkar realize that in a city that are more than happy to kill him. This is a hard blow. The only other person who can protect him right now is Haley. Roy is out of commission. So yea. Belkar is a little worried about his own personal being.

There's nothing intrinsically unlikely about being left behind in a time-critical, life-threatening situation, so it seems likely Belkar's state of denial is rooted in abject dread.
Seems a little strange, mind. Since when does Belkar pay terribly close attention to the odds of his own survival?

:belkar: He does pay very close attention to his own survival. In the instance with attempting to get Miko to kill him, he was counting on being ressurected afterwards. When in a dead end after running away from Goblins (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0092.html) he cries in dismay, as he does again when the dungeon (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0119.html) is about to explode. There's also "I nominate you on account of you not being me" (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0477.html) as well as his efforts to get around the MoJ to ensure his survival (HA!) (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0357.html) so I argue that looking out for himself is on the forefront of Belkar's mind, which fits CE perfectly.

His selfishness is to the point where he refuses to believe that the boat leaves without him. Things have always worked out for him in the past, so he's having a hard time accepting he's in serious trouble, with only Haley (without healing potions and not on full HP) between him and a hobgoblin army.... :smallfrown:

Poor guy...

Yes. Yes he does. As I said in the other thread, we've seen a interesting look into his vulnerable side in OtOoPCs (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3088201&postcount=18).

You make a compelling argument, though one may point out that dragging Larceny Guy over the walls was hardly an act best calculated to ensure his physical well-being.
In addition, one's sympathies are extremely limited.

As regards vulnerability...
he apparently shares a portion of his rations in DCF.

Maybe not, but he did that to ensure he could still have the MoJ removed, which is probably his #1 goal (his own survival coming in a close second perhaps...) - besides, if he hadn't performed that quasi good act, he'd never have been a sexy shoeless god of war... :smalltongue:

His first priority is torturing/killing people and then he think about survival. Thats why dying while killing hobgolins or making Miko fall doesn bother him. But in a situation where he cant kill or torture anyone (like in a dungeon about to explode or inside a city with the MoJ still on him) then he think about survival.

Some people have other priority then staying alive, that doesnt mean they are ready to die for nothing. That remember me one of my character: Me: «I dont care about dying as long as it can save my friends!» The vampire: «They already left you know» Me: «Oh...RUN AWAY!»
