Does having Spirit binding 1 ( or higher) allow you to research spirit or do you need a binding class?

If it doesn't, is there another way to be able to research spirit? Would a feat that allowed to reseach spirit specificly for those spell be too powerful?

As Grimoire of Lost Soul is presumably a 3rd-party book, most of us won't be familiar with it. Could you perhaps share any rules text that might be relevant to your question?

The rules (http://spheresofpower.wikidot.com/pactmaking#toc24) say that the binder needs to make the check; no getting someone else to make the knowledge tasks for you.

Note that "binder" is a generic term in GoLS, much like "meldshaper" or "initiator." It does not refer to a specific class. So you can research a spirit's knowledge tasks without specifically being a Pactmaker just fine, as long as you can make the checks. (Of course, being a Pactmaker helps a lot, thanks to their "Occult Knowledge" class feature.)
