I'm running a 5E D&D Spy campaign -- think James Bond/Black Widow kind of stuff. (It's a Sharn/Eberron campaign focused around the Dark Lanterns, to be precise). Currently have a big stakes card game coming up and I'm basing it around Crazy Eights/Uno, but with a tarot deck I've painstakingly added into Roll20. Originally I was just going to run with the Minor Arcana, since it corresponds well with the playing card deck, but I was thinking -- could possibly have some fun and really play up the fantasy flair by including the Major Arcana too. Does anyone have some ideas for what Major Arcana cards would do in a Crazy Eights/Uno/Mau Mau styled game?

Rough draft of what I have for Crazy Eights with a full Tarot deck:

Eight cards are dealt to each player. The remaining cards of the deck are placed face down at the center of the table. The top card is then turned face up to start the game.

Players discard by matching rank or suit with the top card of the discard pile, starting with the highest player in the list and descending. If a player is unable to match the rank or suit of the top card of the discard pile and does not have an 8, they draw cards from the stockpile until they get a playable card. When a player plays an 8, they must declare the suit that the next player is to play; that player must then follow the named suit or play another 8.

As an example: Once the Six of Swords is played the next player:

- can play any of the other 6s
- can play any of the Swords
- can play any 8 or a Major Arcana (then must declare a suit)
- can draw from the stockpile until willing and able to play one of the above

The game ends as soon as one player has emptied their hand. That player collects a payment from each opponent equal to the point score of the cards remaining in that opponent's hand. 8s score 50, court cards 10 and all other cards face value. If the players run out of cards in the deck, the player with the lowest point score in their hand scores the difference between that hand and each opponent's hand.

Face Cards:

- The Ace, Page, Knight, Queen, and King are face cards of their suits.
- When played, the Ace skips the next player. If it is played atop another Ace, the next two players are skipped.
- When played, the Page allows you to also play a second card of the same suit. If it is played atop another Page, the player may continue playing all cards they have of the same suit until they run out.
- When played, the Knight forces the next player to draw three cards. If it is played atop another Knight, it reverses the direction of play and makes that player draw three cards instead.
- When played, the Queen protects the player from the effects of all face cards until their next turn. It cannot prevent the reversal of direction from two Knights being played consecutively.
- When played, the King forces all other players to draw one card in tribute. If it is played atop another King, all other players must draw two cards.

Major Arcana:
Major Arcana may be played at any time, even when it is not your turn, but only one Major Arcana may be played for each player's turn. If multiple people wish to play a Major Arcana on the same action, the first one to speak wins.

- [00]: The Fool. The Fool may be played as any other card in the deck, including the Face Cards and the Major Arcana, with the exception of the World. However, if any player -- including the player who plays the Fool -- has the card which the Fool is being used to imitate, they can call the Fool out and force the player who used the Fool to draw five cards. The dealer will check for veracity.
- [01]: The Magician. Reshuffle your hand into the deck and draw a fresh set of cards -- either eight, or however many you had before, whichever is fewer.
- [02]: The Popess. When played, you may see the hand of any two players of your choice.
- [03]: The Empress. When played, face cards only grant beneficial effects for one round:

- Players normally skipped by an Ace instead play twice in a row.
- The Page is unaffected
- The Knight allows the affected player to discard a single card instead. They may not discard if this would remove their only remaining card.
- The Queen is unaffected.
- The King functions as an Eight.
This effect is canceled if Death is played.
- [04]: The Emperor. When played, the Emperor can redirect any cards drawn on that turn for any reason to any other player. All cards redirected must go only to a single player.
- [05]: The Pope. When played, you may see up to eight cards from any of the other players. If there are three other players, you could choose to see five cards from player A, three cards from player B, and no cards from player C. The other players choose which cards to show you.
- [06]: The Lovers. When played, you designate another player as your Lover. When one of you must draw cards, it is split evenly between the two of you, with any odd numbers going to the direct target. This effect is canceled if Death is played or one of the Lovers is the subject of the Tower.
- [07]: The Chariot. When played, the Chariot allows you to discard two cards. You cannot remove your final card with this effect unless it is played on your turn.
- [08]: Strength. When played, the Strength card allows you to choose to ignore or keep the next eight cards you draw. This effect is canceled if Death is played or you are the subject of The Tower.
- [09]: The Hermit. When played, the Hermit does not allow any other Major Arcana to be played for one round. This effect is canceled if Death is played.
- [10]: Wheel of Fortune. One round after it is played, all players must pass their hands to the player before them on the turn list. This effect is canceled if Death is played.
- [11]: Justice. When played, all players must draw cards until they have at least eight cards, or as many cards as the largest hand before this card was played -- whichever is lower.
- [12]: The Hanged Man. When played, you may see every player's hand, but must take one card of your choice from each of those hands into your own.
- [13]: Death. When played, you cancel the active effect of the following cards: (The Empress, The Lovers, Strength, the Hermit, Wheel of Fortune, Temperance, the Devil, the Sun).
- [14]: Temperance. When played, you never are required to draw more than one card per turn as the result of another player's face card or major arcana. This effect is canceled if Death is played.
- [15]: The Devil. When played, one player of your choice must draw a card any time they choose to play a Major Arcana. This effect is canceled if Death is played.
- [16]: The Tower. When played, choose one player. This player must announce all of the Major Arcana and Face Cards they hold. They must then shuffle these cards back into the deck and draw replacements. If they do not have at least eight cards, they must draw until they have eight cards. Finally, the Tower cancels the effect of the Lover, Sun, and Strength cards.
- [17]: The Star. When played, you may immediately discard until you have seven or fewer cards. If you have seven or fewer cards already, you may treat this card as any one face card of your choice.
- [18]: The Moon. When played, you must show your hand to the other players -- then you may discard up to four cards from your hand. You may not discard your final remaining card in this manner.
- [19]: The Sun. When played, every time you are able to play a card, one player of your choice must draw one card. This effect is canceled if Death is played or you are the subject of The Tower.
- [20]: Judgement. When played, you may immediately discard any Face Cards or Major Arcana you hold. If this would discard your final remaining card, you may draw one card from the deck.
- [21]: The World. The World may only be played on an Eight, including the Strength card. If you have Eight or fewer cards remaining, you immediately discard your entire hand.
