I homebrewed this off of a (regrettably) off of a Video Game race (SO3). It's designed for use in D&D 3.5 Edition gaming sessions and/or campaigns.

Menodix

The Menodix are a shy race of people. They live among themselves in secluded areas, and away from large towns and cities. Their knack for adventures however makes them ideal to join an adventuring party, if they have a proper incentive or promise of reward.
Personality: Menodix are quite shy, but build strong bonds quickly. They do not easily forget or forgive, so a good first impression is always needed to gain their respect. Although they do not associate very well with other races, they excel far beyond other races with their social skills.
Menodix are curios and often find themselves in trouble because of this. They lack the patience to use their common sense when it comes to making decisions.
Menodix are at home with nature, and other animals. They get along particularly well with mammals, but are enemies with most reptilian creatures.
Physical Description: Menodix stand about 3½ feet at adult height, but don’t usually grow too much larger than that. They are considerably lighter than other races for their size, and only weigh 30-45 pounds.
Their skin is always a tanned color, and not ranging far beyond. Their hair is usually a shade of medium-dark brown, but can occasionally be black.
Menodix have two distinct features that separate them from most other humanoid races. The most prominent is the large set of pointed ears that face at a downward angle, opposite of most humanoids. The second feature is a bushy tail that extends above a Menodix’s posterior. Menodix clothing is specifically designed to accommodate these features.
Relations: Menodix avoid all races larger than them. Their only political relations lie with Gnomes and Halflings, with whom they are most alike. They hate reptilian creatures, and are natural enemies with Nagas and Yuan-Ti. With other races, they prefer to remain undetected.
Alignment: A Menodix is too unpredictable to hold up a lawful alignment. They tend towards being chaotic neutral, and chaotic good. Menodix almost never have directly evil or malicious actions towards others.
Menodix Lands: Menodix build small villages above ground, usually on river or lake islands. They use small wooden huts and cabins to accommodate a dislike of stone. Visitors are usually not welcome, unless they do the village a large favor. Friends of the village are allowed to bring in others, but only under sworn secrecy.
Few Menodix go to live with other races. Forest Gnomes, and Halflings will accommodate a Menodix in their village.
Religion: Very few Menodix chose to become druids or clerics. Those who do become priests often choose Obad-Hai as their chosen deity.
Language: The Menodix adopted and warped the Halfling language to suit their own language needs. The language is not spoken outside of the villages. Most Menodix know basic Halfling, and Gnome. A few learn Elven and Common to support interspecies relationships.
Names: Menodix use names that are a cross between human and Halfling names. In formality, they use their First name, Last name, and middle initial.
Male Names: Roger, Kavin, Naden.
Female Names: Larsia, Anra, Kilsea.
Adventures: Menodix usually feel bored of home routine life, and go on adventures. This compulsion is usually felt around Menodix men at the age of 10-12 years. Female Menodix do not as often feel the compulsion. After a few years of adventuring, Menodix usually settle down in another or the same village.

·+4 racial bonus on listen checks. A Menodix’s ears allow for far better hearing than a Human.
·+2 racial bonus on balance checks. A Menodix’s tail is designed to balance it like a squirrel.

·Spell like abilities: At will- Speak with Animals. 3/Day- Cure Minor Wounds. 1/Day- Charm Animal, Pass Without Trace, Longstrider. DC Saves are Charisma based. A Menodix can only use these abilities if his charisma is 14 or higher. These spells act as if a first level sorcerer had cast them.
·Favored Class: Any. A Menodix does not receive any experience penalty for Multi-classing.
·Level Adjustment: +1. This modifier is in place mostly because of the Menodix’s spell like abilities, and the ability to choose any class without an experience point penalty.

Unfortunately, I found it VERY hard to read, since it's all one big text block. I didn't feel like straining my eyes, but if you spaced it out better, I'd like to critique it.

LA-Adjustment should be +2.
You have spell-like abilities, some of which are level 1 spells (+1 LA on its own)
You have unbalanced Ability Scores (+2 to two scores, -2 to one. Worth +1 LA)
