In the interest of making a less divine, more self-reliant Ranger, I devised this archetype. I wanted to fit in the ability to Infuse extracts but I also wanted to maintain access to most Ranger archetypes, so I think I'll be making a feat for it, like Extra Discovery but limited. Perhaps I'll allow it as an option instead of a Combat Style feat...

Herbalism (Su): An apothecary’s studies are focused on creating alchemical concoctions instead of using divine power to cast spells, fashioning magical potion-like extracts in which they can store spell effects. In effect, an apothecary prepares her spells by mixing ingredients into a number of extracts, and then “casts” her spells by drinking the extract. When an apothecary creates an extract, she infuses the concoction with a tiny fraction of her own magical power—this enables the creation of powerful effects, but also binds the effects to the creator.
An apothecary can attempt a Profession (herbalist) check in place of any Craft (alchemy) check and gains a bonus on Profession (herbalist) checks equal to her class level. In addition, an apothecary can use Profession (herbalist) to identify potions as if using detect magic. She must hold the potion for 1 round to make such a check.
Extracts behave like spells in potion form, and as such their effects can be dispelled by effects like dispel magic using the apothecary’s level – 3 as the caster level. Unlike potions, though, extracts can have powerful effects and duplicate spells that a potion normally could not.
An apothecary can create only a certain number of extracts of each level per day. Her base daily allotment of extracts is the same as a normal ranger’s spells per day. In addition, she receives bonus extracts per day if she has a high Wisdom score.
When an apothecary mixes an extract, she infuses the herbs and reagents in the extract with magic siphoned from her own magical aura. An extract immediately becomes inert if it leaves the apothecary’s possession, reactivating as soon as it returns to her keeping—an apothecary cannot normally pass out her extracts for allies to use (except her animal companion, if she has one; see below). An extract, once created, remains potent for 1 day before losing its magic, so an apothecary must re-prepare her extracts every day. Mixing an extract takes 1 minute of work—most apothecaries prepare many extracts at the start of the day or just before going on an adventure, but it’s not uncommon for an apothecary to keep some (or even all) of her daily extract slots open so that she can prepare extracts in the field as needed.
Although the apothecary doesn’t actually cast spells, she does have a formulae list that determines what extracts she can create. An apothecary can utilize spell-trigger items if the spell appears on her formulae list, but not spell-completion items (unless she uses Use Magic Device to do so). An extract is “cast” by drinking it, as if imbibing a potion—the effects of an extract exactly duplicate the spell upon which its formula is based, save that the spell always affects only the drinking apothecary. An apothecary can draw and drink an extract as a standard action. The apothecary uses her level – 3 as the caster level to determine any effect based on caster level.
Creating extracts consumes raw herbs and plants, but the cost of these materials is insignificant—comparable to the valueless material components of most spells. If a spell normally has a costly material component, that component is expended during the consumption of that particular extract. Extracts cannot be made from spells that have focus requirements (apothecary extracts that duplicate divine spells never have a divine focus requirement).
An apothecary can prepare an extract of any formula she knows. To learn or use an extract, an apothecary must have a Wisdom score equal to at least 10 + the extract’s level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against an apothecary’s extract is 10 + the extract level + the apothecary’s Wisdom modifier.
An apothecary may know any number of formulae, which are drawn from the ranger spell list. She stores her formulae in a special tome called a formula book. She must refer to this book whenever she prepares an extract but not when she consumes it. An apothecary gains a book with two 1st-level formulae of her choice at 4th level, plus a number of additional formulae equal to her Wisdom modifier. At each new apothecary level thereafter, she gains one new formula of any level that she can create. An apothecary can also add formulae to her book just like a wizard adds spells to his spellbook, using the same costs, pages, and time requirements. An apothecary can study a wizard’s spellbook to learn any formula that is equivalent to a spell the spellbook contains. A wizard, however, cannot learn spells from a formula book. An apothecary does not need to decipher arcane writings before copying them.
This replaces spells.

Remedies (Ex): Apothecaries are adept at brewing thick herbal cure-alls called remedies. An apothecary prepares her remedies at the same time she mixes her extracts and can prepare a number of remedies equal to 3 + her Wisdom modifier (minimum 1 remedy). A remedy becomes inert if it leaves the apothecary’s possession, reactivating as soon as it returns to her keeping. A apothecary can never have more remedies than 3 + her Wisdom modifier.
As a standard action, the apothecary can administer a remedy to herself or a creature within reach. This consumes the remedy, and the apothecary attempts a Profession (herbalist) check against the save DC of any one disease or poison currently afflicting the consumer. If the check is successful, the effect immediately ends. If the disease or poison doesn’t allow saving throws, the remedy is ineffective.
An apothecary can also use a remedy to attempt to end the blinded, deafened, fatigued, nauseated, or sickened conditions. This requires a Profession (herbalist) check with a DC equal to the spell or effect that caused the condition, or a DC 25 check if the condition was caused by an effect that doesn’t allow for a saving throw. If successful, the condition ends. Only a single condition, disease, or poison can be removed with each application of a remedy.

Apothecary’s Discovery (Ex): In place of a combat style feat, an apothecary may choose Apothecary’s Discovery (see below).
This modifies the ranger’s combat style feat class feature. This ability does not cause the apothecary archetype to be incompatible with other archetypes that alter the combat style class feature.

Apothecary’s Animal Companion
An apothecary’s animal companion (if she has one) has Share Extracts in place of Share Spells. Any animal companion archetypes that replace Share Spells with another feature may replace Share Extracts.

Share Extracts (Ex): The apothecary may administer an extract with a target of “You” on her animal companion instead of on herself. An apothecary may administer an extract to her animal companion even if the extract normally does not affect creatures of the companion’s type (animal). Extracts administered in this way must come from a class that grants an animal companion. This ability does not allow the animal to share abilities that are not extracts, even if they function like extracts.
This replaces share spells.
