Specifically, I'm homebrewing an E6 class that goes from being a "pet class" to being a wildshaper (at 1st level, you summon your buddy, at 2nd level your buddy is around full-time, at 4th level you and your buddy get to form a composite creature.)
The buddy may be a Magical Beast, but that's probably unfair to the full-BAB classes in the party. But I definitely want the buddy to be eligible for humanoid buffs (enlarge person) as well as animal buffs. And I don't really mind if that makes it vulnerable to humanoid-target and animal-target spells.
Is there any way to do this that's more elegant than just making a rule exception?
