so i have been looking into a way to make magic items with charges per week/month/year. so that A its cheaper and B so that some things are more limited, we don't need resurrection more than 1/month (or week if we are bad). some help to try and find a conversion.
we have how to make something last all day (its in the subscript for continuous items (based on time/CL; x4 rnds, x2 min/lvl, x1.5 10min/lvl, /2 if >24hrs)
we have charges/day (# charges/5 times cost)
but we don't have a actual way to do charges/week, month, year. but there are magic items that have some of those charges. bag of tricks, wondrous figurines, ring of the elements, ect.
the only magic items that ONLY have charges/week that i could find were the bag of tricks: grey/rust/tan, at 10 charges/week. (900g/3,000g/6,300g)
since it is a bag of some kind i don't see a component cost to it but possible.
starting with the
Grey bag; 900g. command word item 1800g* 2 * 3 = 10800g for unlimited use of SNA 2. 900*12=10800g
Rust bag: 3,000g: 1800*3*5 = 27,000 SNA 3. 3,000g*9 = 27,000g
tan bag: 6,300g: 1800* 5*9=81000 SNA 5. 6,300g*12.857= 80,999.1
when i was looking at doing this the first time my innitial idea was just to multiply the 5 possible charges per day by 7 resulting in 35 pissible charges per week so x/35 as the multiplier, obviously wrong but is it exactly? just from what i can see from the bags 12 is the magic number (though rust is slightly better valued) so since they have 10 charges it would be 10/120? well if we take everything x3 then its 10*3/360.
so charges*3/360 for weekly charges?
monthly charges we have orb of storms, figurine of wondrous power:ivory goats, and figurine of wondrous power: marble elephant. only the elephant is just monthly charges (4), using animate object (sp6, cl11, rnd/cl) 17,000g.
1800 * 6*11= 118,800g for command use item. obviously not good enough lets x4 to make it a 24hr item; 475,200g.
475,20/ 17,000 = ~27.95 (oh hey its February) the odd bit would be that 4 charges/month and we multiplied that by 4 to make it 24 hour charge. so undo both of those and its 1 charge/28 approximately.
118,800*4/28=`~16,974.43
thoughts?
