View Full Version : Let's make a character together v2.0 - a 5e interactive game - take 3!

We've made a Bugbear Paladin/Eldritch Knight and an Air Genasi Cleric/Druid/Fighter so far and that is a pretty good start! As promised, I will make a compilation of all the characters and post them in a separate post if we finish take 10.

Also, others are obviously free to start their own 'let's make a character together' thread once this one is completed.

Poster #1 will choose Race, and any sub-race if applicable.
#2: Alignment
#3: Background, and alternate background feature, if applicable.
#4: Personality Trait
#5: Ideal
#6: Bond
#7: Flaw
#8: Name and gender
#9: STR score (using 15/14/13/12/10/8; scores that have already been used can’t be reused; apply racial bonuses)
#10: DEX score
#11: CON score
#12: INT score
#13: WIS and CHA scores
#14: Racial choices (eg. if race is Variant Human, choose feat, if race is Half-Elf chose bonus skills, if High Elf choose a Cantrip, etc); if race doesn't allow optional choices, skip this step.
#15: Class at 1st level, and any class-related choices (eg. known spells for Sorcerer, fighting style for fighter, etc)
#16: Class at 2nd level, and any class-related choices
#17: Class at 3rd level, and any class-related choices
#18: Class at 4th level, and any class-related choices
#19: Class at 5th level, and any class-related choices
#20: Uncommon magical item

#22: Class at 7th level, and any class-related choices
#23: Class at 8th level, and any class-related choices
#24: Class at 9th level, and any class-related choices
#25: Class at 10th level, and any class-related choices
#26: Rare Magic Item
#27: Class at 11th level, and any class-related choices
#28: Class at 12th level, and any class-related choices
#29: Class at 13th level, and any class-related choices
#30: Class at 14th level, and any class-related choices
#31: Class at 15th level, and any class-related choices
#32: Very Rare Magic Item
#33: Class at 16th level, and any class-related choices
#34: Class at 17th level, and any class-related choices
#35: Class at 18th level, and any class-related choices
#36: Class at 19th level, and any class-related choices
#37: Class at 20th level, and any class-related choices
#38: Legendary Magical Item
#39: A bit of backstory (how the character got to the choices he made).

All choices must be legal. For this game, let's keep it to all official WotC material (no UA). Traits, Ideals, Bonds and Flaws can be made up, using PHB guidelines. You may not have an Ideal that's opposed to your Alignment.

The three-post rule applies (don't post unless at least 3 people posted since your previous post).

One last thing: Please start the post with #X. This to avoid confusion and so that everyone can see quickly at what number we are at. If we get 10 character I will post them online in a separate post so that they can be used by DM's or players if they wish.

A mistake was made at 28. We are now #32: Very Rare Magic Item - Tome of Understanding, which will bring us to 22 Wisdom! (Assuming the unnamed ASI go to Wisdom).

Pretty sure you need warlock, sorcerer or wizard for robe of the arch magi. If you want a higher spell save DC, there's the ioun stone of mastery...

Edit. Oops I must be seeing things. Never mind.

You grew up with your father teaching you all about soldiering, so that one day you might join the ranks. Which to the pride of the clan, you did. You fought well in the wars, until the clans signed peace accords with the filthy giants that existed in the forest with your clan. Disbanding the armies on both sides was one stipulation, leaving you jobless. Your mother’s brother provided you with a means of living though, as a priest of Tymora. Though while studying early in your learning, you had contact with Brandobaris, and he brought you to his worship promising you revenge on the giants for all the damage wrought by them in the war.
This is when he showed you how to become the perfect trickster and unsettle those creatures. Over time, you learned the quickest way to find them and picked up on a bit of their language, as well as not getting caught while sneaking around. Brandobaris gifted his loyal worshipper with a way to stay out of trouble by way of a shield. And over the course of many moons, you came to enjoy the presence of giants, eventually enough to approach them. Though careful to never let on that you where the trickster spirit that had and continued to haunt them all this time. And being the first giant friend from among your clans, one of them gave you a ring it had found after a battle, a ring you recognized as one of your companies’ that had died.
He gave you this in hopes of making peace with an old enemy, and it worked. The old giant, becoming your friend told him of the troubles they had been having on the mountain border of the forest with the orc tribe and gnoll raiding parties. You beseeched your god for help in dealing with them and he agreed, showing you yet more how to mess with them. Since you had given up soldiering, you decided to help the giants by using what Brandobaris had so generously taught you long ago. You started creeping into orc strongholds and gnoll encampments, becoming a living spirit of pranks. And that is what you do until this day...
