Hello fellow Playgrounders!

A recent Unearthed Arcana had inspired me to go through all the core books and compile list of useful tables and resources (http://purplelizardman.com/finlam/5e-super-index-essential-tables-and-where-to-find-them/) and where they can be found. A kind of "super-index" of things that I would use as GM.

Seeing the sheer amount of tables got me excited (THERE'S A TABLE FOR WEATHER!) as a lot of these would make my life easier than having to just make up stuff on the fly, a lot of them are really niche, and lot of them are REALLY powerful generators. I was especially impressed with the Random Dungeon Generator in the DMG.

So, what are your favorite tables in 5e? Which ones would you like to use, but just haven't got the opportunity?

Excellent idea, but it needs to be organized into sections to be a useful quick reference. (Or the sections need to be labelled if it already is.)

That is a good idea. I will update it to be organized by category and book. =)

It is done! It's now sorted by category (though not yet by book)

But to get back on topic: Seeing all the wonderful tables in the DM made me wonder if it's possible to run an entire adventure using nothing but random generators. The new tables in Xanathar's and Volo's will need to be added to list, but with those you could randomly:

Create An Adventuring Party
Create Adventuring Party's Backstory
Create a location to start the adventure
Create the Adventure Hook
Create the NPCs for the adventure
Create Twists and Complications for the Adventure
Create Skill Challenges and Traps for the Players
Create ENTIRE DUNGOENS
Create Adversaries
Create Rewards

Heck, you can even generate the weather while the PCs are traveling. It kind of makes me want to write a complete random adventure generator...

@dreast I followed up on your advice and then I went just a little further. It is now a fairly comprehensive list of tables and other useful GM rules. It is filterable and contains we links to the tables where appropriate.

Unfortunately, not all of the tables exist online. If you're aware of any that I missed, please let me know and I will roll them into it.
