View Full Version : Fictional Spaceships converted into Starfinder

This is more of a fun observation rather than a question. I've noticed that many people don't agree either with the mechanics or the sizes or whatnot on how Starfinder developed their ship system. Personally, I find it easy to look past the mistakes, and got curious about how some ships translate into Starfinder.

*Please note a lot of my information comes from online sources and could be faulty. I wouldn't mind any corrections. In cases where there are sources that include movies and websites and books, I go with movies first since that is what we all remember.

Arguably the most iconic space ship, i find that this ship translates well into starfinder though not perfectly:

What we know
Size: According to Wookiepedia (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Millennium_Falcon), the Falcon is at most 34.75 meters. Since Starfinder measures everything in feet, this translates to 114 feet 7/64 inches.
Using Starfinder's chart on ship sizes, we find that the Falcon fits into the small category. The two models available for small ships includes the Shuttle and the Light Freighter. The most we have seen people operating the Falcon is four: In New Hope when escaping the Star, we see Leia and Chewbacca piloting and possibly running scans (Pilot and Science Officer) and Han and Luke operating two turrets (Gunners). We've also seen R2 fill in the role of engineer, so I'd argue that the max crew is up to at least 6, making the falcon a Small Light Freighter

Power Core: This I can find very little information about, so I will make a guess to what model this is later.

Engines: This and the drift engine are the bread and butter of the ship. Using Wookiepedia again, the falcon's top speed is 1,050 KM/Hour. This is compared to the Imperial-II Star Destroyer's (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_II-class_Star_Destroyer) speed of 975 Km/Hour and the TIE fighter's (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE/ln_space_superiority_starfighter) speed of 1,200 km/Hour. Since Starfinder doesn't give exact speeds for hex movement, we have to guess. With the Tie Fighter being the fastest ship i've found so far (My guess is with a speed of 14) and the falcon only slightly behind it, my guess is the falcon has the S12 Thrusters (with a speed of 12).

Drift Engine (Hyperspace): Using Wookiepedia again, we know the Falcon one of (if not the fastest) Hyperdrive engines and thus one of the best Drift engines. Without anything faster, i assume the Falcon has a Signal Ultra Drift Engine

Weapons: What we have seen in the movies include Two Turrets (https://youtu.be/T_OSeRxhGOY?t=32) on top and bottom of the ship as well as a 'turret' gun on the side (I explain this under Security). Wookiepedia defines these as Quad-Firing Lasers (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Quad_laser_cannon). When we've seen them in action, they have completely destroyed TIE Fighters easily, and since TIE Fighters are know for not having shields, the minimum of HP a ship can have is 20 (provided the ship is a racer). Do any of the Light Weapons have the possibility of dealing more then 20 damage? Surprisingly, the light Plasma Cannon can deal up to 24 damage, though then we assume that every time the falcon shot it rolled fairly well. If the Falcon was a Medium sized ship, we could assume that Han is using a Heavy weapon, but the rulebook states that heavy weapons can only go on ships of Medium or larger.

In Return of the Jedi, we also see two small 'bolts' (https://youtu.be/dv45FxbXb_0?t=128) shoot out from the falcon. Wookiepedia defines these as "ST2-Missile Tubes". Wookiepedia goes on to describe these "concussive missiles (https://youtu.be/dv45FxbXb_0?t=128) are similar to traditional bombs, leading me to believe that the equivalent would be a high explosive missile launcher.

Thus, We assume the ship is equipped with 2 Turret Plasma Cannons and 2 Forward arc High Explosive Missile launchers, fitting nicely with the Light Freighter's max number of 4 weapon mounts.

Shields: Its no secret that the Millennium (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9_KIKwMN1w) Falcon (https://youtu.be/KvJDItC6tE0?t=89) gets hit (https://youtu.be/YjGa5Vj7B7I?t=102) and loses their shields a lot (https://youtu.be/vNoCDvJpmPU?t=150). The fact that the Falcon can take so many shots from Star Destroyers and TIE fighters indicates that it must have some top-quality shields and go as far as to say it may have Medium Shields 200.

Armor: I'd also argue that the reason the Falcon has been able to last so long is due to its armor and ability to shrug off some nasty shots. MK 7 Armorand a MK 4 Defenses to counterbalance the TL penalty

Computer: This is where the Falcon falls short of most. The only time we've seen the falcon's computer, or even hear of it, it is when C-3P0 is talking to it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMk0-pZfx5Q). In it, 3P0 comments that the ship's dialect "most peculiar", indicating he is having some trouble understanding it. However, we also see that it ,in its most basic way, is helping with the engineering checks as Han is fixing the falcon by listing what needs to be replaced. I argue that the combination of peculiarity and slight usefulness makes it a MK-1 Monodode, though at this point its guesswork.

Crew Quarters: Crew Quarters? Have we ever seen anyone sleep on the falcon? I mean we have seen a game table and a couch (https://youtu.be/T_OSeRxhGOY?t=1), but beyond that.... I'd say this is
Common Quarters, if not nothing at all.

Security (WIP): In Empire Strikes back, we see a 'turret' (https://youtu.be/S0eP4YqTpdE?t=170) come out to protect the falcon from stormtroopers. This is a weapon that is never seen used against ships, but deals with individuals effectively. This leads me to believe this is some sort of Anti-Personal Weapon, modified to be on the outside of the ship, most likely Corona Lazar Rifle judging by the laser blasts and how much damage it seems to deal to the stormtroopers. .

Sensors: In terms of movies, I cannot find anything besides the fact that the Falcon has a small radar-esque dish. So turning once again to Wookiepedia, we discover that the dish is a Rectenna and according to the legends, expensive and pretty decent at what they do. So we can guess is they are pretty advanced. We don't know however how far the sensor goes. Since they seem expensive, my guesswork says it is an Advanced Medium Range Sensor

Expansion Bays: The most we see of the inside of the falcon includes the piloting seat, the engine area, the guns, and the place where the couch and table is. We do see that Han has installed several smuggling compartments (https://youtu.be/JGp_5gOww0E?t=233) however. Since Han mostly does smuggling and transporting materials, we can assume that he has two smuggling compartments and one cargo hold.

Power Core: So far, the ship needs about 368 PCU to function fully. This poses a problem because the biggest core a small ship can use generates only 300. However, we also see time and time again the ship failing. It takes time to start up (https://youtu.be/shl31rC-aYg?t=145) and needs to be rewired to do so, complete with worries of hoping not to have a burn out. The falcon is using too much energy to that its core can't keep up in the original trilogy. I suggest that the Power Core is a Pulse Prismatic and not providing enough energy to keep everything working properly.
