As of right now, some of my favorite games are the Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Farcry series. Have always loved the stories. More so in Elder scrolls xD
Also am really in to We Happy Few ( got it in Alpha).

Xenoblade
Final Fantasy VII
Breath of Fire III
Metal Gear Solid 4
Super Smash Bros (either Melee or 4, probably 4)

Current favorites are Monster Hunter World and Overwatch (for all that I complain about it, I still like the game).

Some of my all-time favorites (in no particular order) would be:

Red Dead Redemption
Shovel Knight
Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber
Tekken 5
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair
Suikoden 3
Arc the Lad 2
Borderlands
Chrono Trigger
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Streets of Rage 3 (I am apparently the only one who thinks it was an improvement on 2)
Castle Crashers
NBA Jam

I'm sure I've forgotten a bunch.

OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How could I forget!?

My #1 favorite is probably Suikoden 2. I started 3, played for like 20 minutes, couldn't get into it. Sounds like I need to pick it back up.

2 is the only one I haven't played. By the time I got into the series, it was too hard to find unless you were willing to dish out absurd amounts of money for a copy. I've played 1, 3, 4, Tactics, and 5.

What I liked about 3 is that it did away with the outdated silent protagonist character and gave you three main characters to choose from. It did occasionally get tiresome playing through the same scene three times from different perspectives, but I enjoyed the way it would change your perceptions of the characters and conflicts. Plus partway through there's an optional 4th perspective to play with, who is less of a big hero type and more of a normal guy thrust into a situation beyond his ability to handle.

If I were to rank the entire series (among the ones I've played) by how much I enjoyed them, I would go 3, 5, 1, 4, Tactics.

Which reminds me, I have something to add to the "things to avoid in video games" thread...

Archon (1983)
AD&D "Pools" series (1988-1991)
Renegade Legion: Interceptor (1990)
Master of Orion 1-2 (1993-1996)
Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries (1996)
Panzer General 2 (1997)
Medieval: Total War (2002)
Panzer Corps (2011)
Shadowrun Returns series (2013-2015)
Mordheim (2015)
Ultimate General: Civil War (2016)

Hmm... Come to think of it, all my favorite games involve resource management.

And looking forward to Battletech (2018) which is more of the same.

One of the most slapdash lists to come, off the top of my head:

Age of Empires 2
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Morrowind
The Longest Journey
Planescape: Torment
Fallout 2
Master of Magic
Witcher 3
Baldur's Gate 2
ADOM

Also props to:

Super Mario Land (yes, Land)
Grim Fandango
Warcraft 3
Jedi Academy

... among other things, probably.

Archon (1983)

Wow, that's a blast from the past.

Quest for Glory I & II (including the VGA remake of QfG2; some solid design, there).
Pool of Radiance (the old one)
Baldur's Gate I & II
Icewind Dale I & II
Planescape: Torment
Knights of the Old Republic I & II
Lord of the Rings On-line
The new Shadowrun games (Dragonfall and Hong Kong are a great improvement on the basic engine from Returns)

If I have a problem with most of these games, it's that I seldom play them any differently... I'm personally unable to retry Planescape: Torment and play evil. I think the only one I've replayed differently is QfG I & II... once as omnicompetent, and once as a thief.

Neverwinter Nights I and II are growing on me.

Master of Orion 1-2 (1993-1996)
Medieval: Total War (2002)

I only ever played Master of Orion once at a friend's house, before I had my own computer. It seemed like the kind of game I would enjoy, but I never found an opportunity to dive further into it.

Never played Medieval, but I had Shogun: Total War and I couldn't get the hang of it. I played some of the first Warcraft and the early Command & Conquer games and expected something similar, but I could not even control the camera, let alone manage my units effectively. Then someone in college borrowed the game and never gave it back.

Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
Bastion
Chrono Trigger
Dark Souls
Demon's Souls
Diablo 1 and 2 (3 is meh)
Fallout (original)
Final Fantasy 12
Grandia
Heroes of Might and Magic 2 (never finished, but fond childhood memories)
Legend of Zelda - Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time
Lords of Magic (again, nostalgia)
Planescape: Torment
Salt and Sanctuary
Soulcalibur 2

EDIT: The jury's still out on Monster Hunter: World, but it's a strong candidate.

Master of Magic

Ahhh... So is this.
I fondly remember the first time I destroyed the world with volcanoes to fuel my magical power. Good times.

Heh. Or buff your cities into utopic levels with Life Magic.

I still maintain (maybe with a bit of bias) that Master of Magic hasn't been surpassed in its subgenre.

Castlevania : Symphony of the Night
Megaman X

Hey look! I forgot two.

I need to check if Valkyrie Profile is available on PSN. I enjoyed the bit of it I played at a friend's place in High School. Might pick up Disgaea 5 on the Switch, because it seems perfect for the "pick up and play" type format. I've never finished a Disgaea, and it seems like a good setup to do so.

I can vouch for D5's greatness. My favorite out of 3-5 (never played 1 or 2... I intend to though, with the remake of 1 coming out).

I've found the Disgaea formula getting a little stale, and I've been playing since D1. Still good games, but it you play everything NISA puts out on their own you'll find little difference.

By rough genre:

Racing: Stunts
Strategy: Age of Empires 2/Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds
Shooting: Unreal Tournament 2004
RPG: Skyrim

I also have some very fond spaces in my heart for Battle Bugs, The Atomic Butcher and Knytt, as some of the smaller games I liked more than many big ones.

Oh, I like playing computer games, I was great fan of them in my teenage years and I still play them time till time, however now that happens not too often because adult life is much busier :p
My the most favourite one is Half Life 2 (http://store.steampowered.com/app/220/?l=russian), in my opinion it's the best games which had been ever made. I played it so many times and I dream about releasing third episode some day. They should end that amazing plot! :)
I also like GTA (http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/271590/?l=russian), Hitman (http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/236870/?l=russian) and Alien VS Predator (http://store.steampowered.com/app/10680/Aliens_vs_Predator/?l=russian) series, the last one from them was really good. BloodRayne is my favourite too, in my opinion it's one of the best ones in case of main female character. Chaser, Thief and Prey are good ones too.
I like some mmorgs too, especially Cabal, Shaiya and World of Warcraft. But I don't play them often because I don't like much that donating thing for such types of games.
And I adore virtual gambling, especially online casinos http://onlineslotsx.com/slot-games/eye-of-horus/ and card games, it's a great fun for me too but I've never spent too much money on such games.

My current addiction is Minecraft. "Digital LEGOs" is a pretty spot on description, and it can be a fun challenge to fight off the undead from a village by building up defenses against them. And really, just exploring the landscape can lead to interesting (and picturesque) sights.

Hm.. Always a difficult question..
I'll try to not repeat things everyone has said already but stick to more personal favorites.

Jrpgs:
RADIANT HISTORIA (I have no idea why this game is so little known and not constantly praised as a prime example of the genre)
Final fantasy V (just a personal favorite in the series)
Lufia 2 (a lot of nostalgia, by now I'm aware of its flaws but I still love it)

Hmm.. Thinking about which Zelda title to include.. I loved Breath and I enjoy Skyward a lot right now.. But I think I'll go with
The handheld Zelda games (yes, all of them)

Also
Iji (little known indie platformer but loads of fun)
20xx (I genuinely enjoy it much more than the Megaman games it copies, maybe because it's a little easier and I suck)

Otherwise right now I can only think of games I would not quite call favorites or which everyone loves anyway, so...

Right now I'm playing Empires Apart (historic RTS, multiplayer focused, PC, brand new, not quite bug free yet) and Riptide GP Renegade (boat racing, arcade, on my phone). I'm also in the middle of A story about my Uncle (3D platformer, generally awesome) but I'll finish that ones I have a computer that doesn't overheat when playing it. It's on the to do/to be able to afford list somewhere.
