New player, unsure of exactly how cover and opportunity attacks work.

If a character starts her turn at position A, can she move to B, make an attack, and then move back to A, without provoking an opportunity attack?
While she is at position A, does she have half cover from the mob, and vice versa, does the mob have half-cover from her?

Moving around a character, without leaving melee range should not provoke an opportunity attack, however, what about going into half-cover?

(The black bits represent solid walls, the mob is in an alcove).

You only provoke an AoO if you leave a creatures threatened area.

As long as you dont leave the area, you're golden.

As long as you dont leave the area, you're golden.

Addendum: Moving to half cover doesn't count as leaving the threatened area, you only get bonus. Of course, the monster can do the same on its turn.

However, moving to FULL cover *does* count as leaving the threatened area and provokes OA.

That actually makes perfect sense. thank you both.

Also, just realised that there is a RAW thread at the top for exactly these types of questions.
