Should Arcane archer let you use other ranged weapon.

So I was thinking about my post for sling build. And I was thinking that a Arcane Archer would be fun to play as a slinger. Or even a crossbowman why should bows be the only ones having fun.

I wouldn't see any harm letting it be used with any ranged weapon. After all, Hawkeye of the Avengers is awesome with any ranged weapon.

I think Crawford already mentioned that not including crossbow was an oversight.

A sling build would be neat but quite under powered since most the character's combat ability still comes from straight attacks.

As a DM I'd allow it. Isn't a huge difference mechanics wise between bows and crossbows, and choosing to use a sling as an Arcane Archer would be a self-nerf, so not much concern of cheese.

Do you have any idea how much alcohol it took to forget that movie? Now I have to start over. 😑

The only thing that it does it give you an extra attack every round with the addition of making crossbow expert feat more useful, but frankly I think this is a good thing.


It would also open up the build to use a strength with thrown weapons. Again, not really a bad thing.
