Closing Account?

Is it possible to completely close an account? I ask for legitimate reasons, though I choose not to disclose them here.

Yeah, the admins can do it. I don't think they'd do it unless they had a very good reason, but they could do it.

This has been asked before, the admins had explicitly said no. Reason being is deleting an account generally messes up the board because it will also delete the posts and anyone refering to a post that was deleted isn't altered. Basically leaving ghost posts which are really confusing.

I seem to remember an admin saying it was possible to close off an account at someones request. They wouldn't delete everything, just make it so the person couldn't get on, IIRC.

Deleting an account will cause all the posts of that account to say they were posted by an anonymous guest, which can really screw things up. At least, that's how it functions on phpBB; I don't know about vBulletin.
