I know that some DMs don't like to use a laptop at the table, but I find it invaluable with 4E since there are so many things to track in combat. Here is a youtube vid I made highlighting my workflow with some of the tools I use at the gaming table: https://youtu.be/ZH24-Fdo8E8. Not really helpful if you do Roll20 or a related tool for remote gaming, but very helpful for in-person games.
Some Digital Tools (most are shown in the video (https://youtu.be/ZH24-Fdo8E8)):
Character Builder
D&D 4E Combat Manager (https://github.com/DarkSir23/DnD4eCM) - this is open source, which is super awesome.
Offline Compendium (https://github.com/Sheep-y/trpg-dnd-4e-db) - requires DDI to take advantage of this.
Power Card Manager - tool I created for tracking powers for each character and their usage state. Players can bring it up on their phone and changes sync with 4E Combat Manager that DM is using.
