View Full Version : Player Help Are the Gnomish gods detailed in SCAG?

So I've decided to play a hill dwarf nature cleric in an upcoming PotA game (non-AL). My thought was to have him be a jewelcrafter (guild artisan background) trained/raised by gnomes. When his shop is destroyed and his stuff stolen, he turns to adventuring and ends up reluctantly accepting a calling as a cleric of ___________________. The blank is there because I'm not sure what god would fit best. There are some in earlier editions: Segojan Earthcaller (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnome_deities) would fit perfectly here. But I'm not sure of his canon status in 5e.

Side question--would a racial deity like that even take a cleric of another races?

Segojan Earthcaller,
god of earth and the dead

Light

Segojan Earthcaller is god of the wilds beneath the earth, rather than upon it, as well as god of burrows and the plants and animals found therein.I think that's all the information on the guy.

As long as he exists, I'm happy. I'll probably go with that. I know it says Light, not Nature, but those are only suggestions anyway.

Thanks!

Why not go Baervan Wildwanderer, who is the god of woodlands, and has the Nature domain?

Because this guy doesn't care about trees. He's about rocks, gems, and things underground. I'm trying to go a bit against stereotype here--my group finds those things amusing.

Fair enough, just thought I'd ask.

As for your aside question, I would say that yes, a deity might take a cleric of another race, but it would be rare and for some sort of special reason.

I would suggest looking up the gnome dirties in wiki. Although it’s from past editions I suggest looking them over and pick one with DM approval. I’m sure they will get added to 5th with some minor changes

I would suggest not looking up the "gnome dirties" wiki...it is a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

A god of Earth and Gems and "the Dead", but the only domain is Light?

That's weird.

I'd suggest Grave or Forge, which might not have been written at the time SCAG was published.

That's where I got the one I chose from. Since it's in SCAG, it's legal for play per my DM.
