As seen on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8k3NGSdfLE).

Who knew so much thought was put into the headgear? The pith helmet was A) very light, which is a thing when you're walking long distances wearing the thing. B) a wide brim to keep the sun out of your eyes (important when you need to see the people trying to kill you first) C) covers the back of the neck so you don't burn (no suntan lotion in this era) D) Retains water, so you can soak it in water, then put it on your head and it will give you a sort of primitive air conditioner for hours on end.

Somebody must have put a lot of time an energy to come up with that. It's sometimes hard to appreciate just how much work goes into even commonplace things!

Respectfully,

Brian P.
