So I have been playing D&D for little over a year now, possible even a year and a half, I forget. During this time I have always borrowed friends dice for my rolls, which was never an issue cause he had quite a few, but over time they began to disappear. It did not help that they were the exact same color as his carpet.

So today I decided that it was high time I got my own dice, they are nothing exciting, just some reds and greens but it really feels like I have made a big step, Especially as I am planning on moving into DMing.

I was also wondering, this is more a question for those who have been playing for a long time but, can you remember your first dice (set/group/thingy) or do you not need to as you have them still.?

I got my first dice a couple years ago. They're nothing special, they were released by D&D, a few diffeent colors, blue, red, green, a black, yellow. I still use them frequently.

Mine were sorta see-throught grey. I probably still have a couple left.

I got my first dice 2 or 3 years they were multicolour, I still have them all. they came in a tube so I put them in the tube every time i'm finshed with them, and I use them every time I play D&D.

I tried getting barrel dice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrel_dice) a few weeks back as my first set. They seem decent apart from the D20 which always rolls a 2. Heck, I can't even place it on the 20 side without it rolling to the next one.

This has caused skepticism at the group regarding the fairness. The dice are mocked and not used for anything important.:smallfrown:

I don't want to have to buy dice again.

In the one gaming group I had, there was a guy who had barrel dice. Everyone was sure he would cheat on his rolls, because it was so hard trying to figure out what one of them rolled.

It was in this gaming group that I got my first set of dice. They were a red-orange color with white numbers. Nothing fancy, but they were mine. Then I left them at the host's house, and they became part of the DM's dice.

They were light blue and came with a black crayon to fill in the numbers. I got them in 1981 when I started DnD. I still have them around somewhere. I'm using a tube of dice now. They're bright yellow and easy to find if the DM's cats bat them under the furniture.

Congrats on your first set of dice!

When I started playing again as in adult in 2000, I ran out to the local game shop and bought a set of translucent purple dice. Still have them but I never use them.

One my friends who I play with has his original AD&D dice (the ones that came in the box) and still uses them every now and then. Those dice are almost as old as me. :smalltongue:

My first dice are the only ones I ever use, except when I have to do DM-y things that require multiple dice. See-through red. There are some who will tell you that dice are capricious and must be swapped out/mixed/tested/etc. I just believe in those little guys so much, though, and they've never let me down.
