Conversion Question for Age of Worms

So I'm going to be starting 5E with my Sunday Group, jumping off of Pathfinder. I've hunted down conversions of Age of Worms to 5E, but I'm still stuck on converting loot to acceptable limits.

Is there general advice for loot conversions when going from 3.5 to 5E? Does anyone have experience with running Age of Worms in 5E and can give their suggestions for what to do with loot?

For most loot, it would be easiest to completely throw out what the adventure says, and use the dmg tables to generate the appropriate amount of gold. For magic items, however, toss the unimportant ones, but anything special you should give to players with a lower numbered bonus to match 5e's philosophy.
