I believe in the table above I have every class in the official books that change your type as a class feature, if you see that I am missing one please let me know ^_^

Thanks to Venger for the sweet table (seen below, I'll update mine to look like his once we're done gathering information)

[Table of acquired templates that change type goes here]

There are so many ways to turn into an alternative type, I know I have missed many of them, I'll continue to update the main post when I can

^1 Defunct 3.0 type. Now subtype in 3.5
^2 Not a typo. Risen Martyr has a 0th level

KEY
HoH = Heroes of Horror
DC = Dragon Compendiunm
MoE = Magic of Eberron
Frost = Frostburn
MH = Miniatures Handbook
BoED = Book of Exalted Deeds
CAdv = Complete Adventurer
CDiv = Complete Divine
CArc = Complete Arcane

You cited shapechangers as type changes. In 3.5, shapechanger is no longer a type, but a subtype. Do you want to include them as well as well as other subtypes, or do you just want a list of type changes?

You can add stuff to it as you find new content, just follow the parameters laid out there.

there are many ways in the game. I'm going to add another column listing if the way is a class, feat, etc. some more are in this thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?254720-Transformational-PrCs)

I did want to include subyptes as well, perhaps I'll just put all subtypes in (subtype). Also thank you very much this is much appreciated and I'm adding the other type changes that I found into the table you've made, then I'll update the OP
I somehow still messed up the table. I switch it to WYSIWYG mode, and then paste it in, is that incorrect?

Okay, then that shouldn't be hard. You can either footnote them, as I've been doing, or make an "other notes" column and mention they're subtypes or similar. You're welcome. The great thing is like threads in this vein, as content comes in, you can update the OP and add it.

Your table is weird looking. I'll dive in and see what's up.

EDIT: I fixed it again. Here you go:

Thanks to Venger for the sweet table

There are so many ways to turn into an alternative type, I know I have missed many of them, I'll continue to update the main post when I can

That's not what I do. If you don't want to have to consult this post whenever you make a table, there's a button for it in the new post box:
https://imgur.com/MQrDweX
It's the box under the B for when you want to bold stuff. Just put in your parameters:

porcupines
burritos

1
10

2
20

3
30

change the number of cells accordingly, and change the value for the table to be ="class: head alt1 alt2" that will make it alternate colors between brown and tan and make it easy to read.

let me know if you have any other questions.

There are several acquired templates as well. Maybe start by looking here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?401132-Lists-of-Every-Playable-Monster-by-ECL) at the templates and seeing which type-changing templates can be acquired.

Savage Species has rituals that can change your subtype or type, as for a list, they can change/add
-Alignment Subtypes
-Racial Subtypes (i.e Gnoll, Orc, Goblonoid, etc)
-Elemental Subtypes
-Aquatic Subtype
-Incorporeality

There are many more out there. I'll bookdive, but for now:

knight of the sacred seal (tome of magic: ToM, class) changes type to outsider
otherwordly (player's guide to faerun: PGtF, feat) changes type to outsider

Crystalsinger 10 (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20011123b): Elemental (earth subtype).
Heartwarder 10 (F&P): Fey.
Fang of Lolth 10 (S&S): Vermin.
Forest Master 7 (F&P): Plant.
Knight of the Sacred Seal 5 (ToM); Outsider (native).
Silverstar (F&P): Shapechanger*.
Waverservant 10 (F&P): Aberration (aquatic subtype).

I don't know if you want to list Dragonborn (with an asterisk possibly). There is some controversy over this one, but it is considered a potential way to change Type.

According to Races of the Dragon page 8 "The dragonborn children of Bahamut are a unique race in that they are not born; they are reborn. Each one enters the world as a half ling, an elf, a human, or a member of some other humanoid race with all that race’s propensities and traits." (emphasis added by me)

Further on it states the Prerequisites as follows: "In order to be accepted as a suitable candidate, the supplicant must be non-evil and have an Intelligence score of at least 3." There is no mention of race in the prerequisites.

Under Dragonborn Racial Traits it then states: "Humanoid (dragonblood): Dragonborn are humanoids with the dragonblood subtype and any other subtypes they had before undergoing the Rite of Rebirth. For all effects related to race, a dragonborn is considered a dragon and a member of her original race." (emphasis added by me)

On page 10 under the Mechanics of Rebirth it states: "Type, Subtype, and Race: You retain your original type and subtypes, gaining the dragonblood subtype. You still count as a member of your original race for the purpose of any effect or prerequisite that depends on race."

The controversy usually stems from that first part on page 8 being considered by many as fluff text and not rules text. Nowhere else does it state that candidates must be humanoid to qualify. Under the racial traits it says you are Humanoid (dragonblood) but under Mechanics of Rebirth it says you retain your original type and subtypes and gain the dragonblood subtype. So it appears to contradict itself.

I have encountered DMs that say a non-humanoids can become humanoid (dragonblood) this way, others that say they retain their type and just add dragonblood.

What is the F&P? Thought Fang of Lolth was updated in Drow of the Underdark, but they just came out with a class called Dread Fang of Lolth, totally different. Completely missed ToM adding now
