Fractional casters and cantrips?

Why do the 1/3 casters get cantrips and the 1/2 casters not get them?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Why do Bards get Jack of all Trades but Rogue doesn't, why do Sorcerers get metamagic but not Wizards? Becuase classes are unique from each other, just because an ability might possibly thematic, doesn't mean that class gets it.

Because 1/3 casters are supposed to be truly innately magical subclasses. They can cast all day long if they want. They're just not that super powerful in what they can do. But they can War Magic (EK) or Mage Hand Legerdemain or Friends or Minor Illusion (AT) at will all day long, and that's key to their subclass identity.

1/2 casters aren't supposed to have that same all day innately magical power. It's not key to their identity.

That's my theory, anyway. So IMO, YMMV, AFAIAC, and NIJMUAFF.
