As per the title really. I'm looking to pick up Booming Blade on my Rogue/Scout and wondering if I can avoid a dip as a caster. I think Ritual Caster description outlines the ability to "cast a number of spells as rituals" does meet the criteria, but with no cantrips or spell slots thought I'd ask for opinions. I know I could take Magic Initiate instead but I think you get more bang for buck with Ritual Caster and the party could use rituals more than a level one spell once per day, I think.

Thanks in advance!

Why not take booming blade as a magic initiate cantrip?

Ritual casting is still casting a spell, so yes.

They probably to use it with a reach weapon.

Apologies for sidetracking, but this post makes me wonder if Ritual Caster opens up the usage of certain wands as the Character becomes a spell caster.

I ritual caster would count as a spellcaster, so would someone with magic initiate, or a race that starts with spells and/or cantrips.
