From XGtE, both Hound and Specter appear with temporary hit points. Do they mean in
addition to their normal hit points (as per the statistics of dire wolf or specter) or are all the hit points they have (? So they aren’t heal-able, I guess)

My read: it's in addition to normal hit points, from the respective stat block. Same as any other temp HP.
