So, I was thinking about the different roles (face, trap-monger, skill monkey, scout, melee dpr, etc). And I wondered if there are feats that basically define the role.

Like, clearly melee dpr is defined by Power Attack, and 'tanks' are defined by Stand Still or Improve Trip. But, are there others? And, it can be a group of feats, rather than 'just' one.

Combat Patrol (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/combat-patrol-combat) allows you to increase your reach in order to, well, "patrol" an area, which fits in with the whole protection thing. Likewise, there's feats like Bodyguard (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/bodyguard-combat/), In Harm's Way (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/in-harm-s-way-combat/) or Saving Shield (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/saving-shield-combat/) where you somehow try to intervene and protect others or outright take the blow for them (though the whole "adjacent" thing makes it a bit tricky).

Trap-finder is defined by a feature instead of a feat, and that feature is, well, Trapfinding.
Face is pretty well-defined by someone actually bothering to take the feat Persuasive, not that it is in any way a necessary component of being a face.

While I have only played one session of PF, I believe Bodyguard and In Harm's Way define a successful mount. Don't they?

Uh, no. I'm not sure if you were kidding or not, but the feats are fairly obvious from the names. The indicators above are actually links, but here are the benefits of them.

Bodyguard: When an adjacent ally is attacked, you may use an attack of opportunity to attempt the aid another action to improve your ally’s AC. You may not use the aid another action to improve your ally’s attack roll with this attack.

In Harm's Way: While using the aid another action to improve an adjacent ally’s AC, you can intercept a successful attack against that ally as an immediate action, taking full damage from that attack and any associated effects (bleed, poison, etc.). A creature cannot benefit from this feat more than once per attack.

Like Arkain said, they're feats for when you're protecting someone. Hence the name 'Bodyguard.'

A mount is generally adjacent to their rider, and can occasionally be beefier than him or her.

When a rider is mounted, he and his mount count as occupying the same spaces, and thus they are never adjacent while the rider is actually... riding.

I believe there's a feat that lets you count as adjacent to your mount while mounted.

Since it hasn't come up yet, there's also the typical feats for ranged attackers: Point Blank Shot (http://archivesofnethys.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Point%20Blank%20Shot) and Precise Shot (http://archivesofnethys.com/FeatDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Precise%20Shot) (more the latter than the former), and their successors.
