I saw Emperor Tippy randomly pop up in a thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?555250-List-of-ways-to-sever-your-own-body-parts-in-exchange-for-a-discrete-in-game-effect) I've been keeping my eye on, and it reminded me of a curiosity I had regarding an old TO thread of his (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?240522-Turning-Psion-into-the-Second-most-broken-thing-in-the-game&p=13113298).

The question is whether or not Tippy ever addressed several issues with Fusion + Astral Seed not working.

Particularly the delineation between "you" and the "fused being" you become in the spell Fusion, and the fact that Astral Seed only duplicates "your body", and not the fused being's body.

...or the fact that "an exact duplicate of your body at the time you manifested astral seed" should probably include the duration of the Fusion spell (assuming you for some reason believe the differentiated "fused being's" body somehow became "your body").

While I no longer prescribe to the latter school of thought, I still prescribe to the former. So I was curious whether or not either or both had been addressed at one point or another, either by the man himself or the community at large?

I think you've hit the nail on the head -- the fusion trick requires a shady interpretation of astral seed which could make any temporary effect permanent.

With that shady interpretation, you don't even need fusion to break astral seed. Just repeatedly buff -> astral seed during buff's duration -> death and get re-created with the buff effect now a permanent part of yourself, not as a typed and limited duration bonus -- and voila, you get NI stats.

If you used a less-shady interpretation of astral seed, which was able to distinguish you from any temporary effect or gear, then the fusion trick also breaks.
