You know, the insanely powerful one whose sonic damage destroyed Leeky's trees... casting that into 30 000 or so tightly packed hobgoblins would have surely caused some damage. And if he is a cleric, he could have cast that probably a few times.

Rich already explained this sort of issue in the FAQ, but basically, because it wouldn't make for as good or funny writing, and would make problems for the whole "the city is lost" schtick he's using right now.

Durkon can't cast Control Weather himself. That was a scroll he used vs. Leaky, and presumably he doesn't have any more scrolls. Also, while Control Weather can be a very useful spell to cast in a war, it isn't normally anywhere near as powerful as it was in the Cliffport battle: That was a bit of direct divine intervention from Thor, and the southern gods won't let him cheat like that on their turf.

He already used the scroll, and hadn't thought to buy another one. Also, they must be really expensive.

Ex act ly. I spaced it out like that to beat the 10 character limit, but by typing this, I'm far over anyways.

Thor bent the rules for Durkon so he could do that and one of the south gods kicked him out. He's cut off from direct interventions. You saw it people. Come on its good that your not taking things to seriously but don't ignore it when Gaint offers you an explaination
