The first bullet point states.
•One Medium or smaller creature that you choose must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed up to 5 feet away from you.

My question is, could you help yourself or an ally gain an extra 5 feet of jump?

As a DM, i would probably allow it. The only snag i see is that it says they are pushed *away* from you, so you would have to be under them, but other than that it should work.

We actually did this at the start of Storm King's Thunder (there's a shattered bridge, oh no spoilers).

Why would they need to be under their ally to give them extra distance?
Height? I agree.
Distance? Not so much.

In combat the caster would have to ready the spellcasting of gust to cast it on the other player's turn, but I see no problem with it.
