Im playing a wizard and Im not a fan of familairs. I was figuring on getting rid of it or not even summoning it. I looked at specialist and I like necromancer but i had concerns for the Minion.

Can I protect the minion from being control/rebuked/turned somehow?

If not is there a Specialst i should go into?

I plan on being mostly a I shoot you with a special which i change into a cold/uttercold spell for the damage in negative energy

I like the skeletal minion, personally. I also like necromancy as a school in general.

The skeletal minion *should* be effected by the corpsecrafter line of feats (I believe in Libris Mortis) but that would be up to your DM. Reason being, the skeletal minion test says things that lead me to believe it's been created rather than summoned. Corpsecrafter says "each undead you raise or create " so I think it applies. You can then pick up the bolster resistance feat to give +4 turn resistance. You can also have a friendly cleric cast desecrate.

If you can gain acess to rebuke undead through a PRC you can use that to up your minion's resistance to turning.

I believe there are also items that boost turn resistance.

If you get the minion Awakened, it can take feats, including Improved Turn Resistance and Lifebond, as it gains HD. Awaken Undead itself gives +2 turn resistance.

Spells can help:


Bleakness (PHB II p.104) Wiz 4, +4 turn resistance
Negative Energy Wave (T&B p.94), Wiz 4, turn resustance 1d4+Cha modifier
Armor of Darkness (SC p.15), Darkness 4 (will require a means to get the domain), +4 turn resistance
Ghoul Light (SC p.105), Hunger 1 (will require a means to get the domain), +1 turn resistance


I believe there are also items that boost turn resistance.


Bagpipes of the Damned (LM p.78) turn resistance +4 (requires a Perform check); 3,000gp.
Cloak of Turn Resistance (MIC p.89); turn resistance +4; 11,000gp.

Use an undead-creation spell to create a bunch of zombie ticks or something and attach them to your minion. Any attempt to turn undead will fail against it because it'll turn/rebuke/destroy/whatever the smaller zombies, first.

[edit] Bonus points if you turn them into undead grenades that heal your abomination of nature using Destruction Retribution. More bonus points if they are chickens and you describe them as being hen grenades, and the other wight meat.
