Hello everyone

I love to hear about other people's characters and parties to get inspiration and get a feel what's going on out there - any maybe you feel similar.

So I wanted to ask you - Describe in a few words your current party. I was thinking character classes, races, levels and maybe a short explanation or so.

So what's your party?

To start, my future party will be
Changeling Arcane Trickster 3
Warforged Eldritch Knight 3 (going Cleric)
High Elf Knowledge Cleric 1 / Divination Wizard 2
Bugbear Beast Conclave Ranger 3

At our most recent outing, this was the party:

Haldor, CG male standard human tempest cleric 7 (initiator of the mission)
Falin, LG male mountain dwarf war cleric 1/fighter 6
Lewis, LG male standard human oath of devotion paladin 7
Quelenna, NG female high elf arcane archer 6 (leveled to 7 by the end)
Rusty, CG male lightfoot halfling arcane trickster 7
Radbarg, Rusty's follower, LE male half-orc, modified bandit chieftain stats

Both my campaigns are atm on hold, because of babies (real ones, not the zombie ones). But I hope we can start them both up again next month. Composition is:

As a player (out of the abyss):
- half-elf chain / GOO warlock
- bugbear berserker barbarian
- half-elf assassin rogue (added later)
- high elf tempest cleric (dex based)

As a DM (elemental evil):
- mountain dwarf bear totem barbarian
- halfling draconic (cold) sorcerer
- human war cleric (earlier life and light cleric - new player who wanted to try out a few things)

Table 1:
- Wood Elf Fey Warlock(Blade). Custom in so far that he has the Hex Warrior from Hexblade instead of Feylock lvl 1 feature.
- Human Battlemaster/Rogue. Kind of the party drunk.
- Dragonborn Fighter/Cleric. My guy. Pretty much the party dad.
New players: - Monk(race not known yet).
- Rogue, I think Human too..

2nd table:
- Half elf Cleric.
- Human Bard.
- Wood Elf Ranger.
- Halfling Feylock.
- Human Fighter/Warlock. My character. Warlock is because of story reasons.

So what's your party?

I DM and my group right now is:

Half-Orc Nature Cleric, raised by Orcs until his tribe was destroyed.
Mountain Dwarf Paladin of Devotion, a retired soldier who was working as a smith until recently.
Half-Elf Bard of Glamour, joined the group for the money.

Tiefling Totem Barbarian 5
Forest Gnome Arcane Trickster 5
Half Orc Devotion Paladin 5
Vuman Dragon Monk 4/Light Cleric 1 (my character)
High Elf Moon Druid 4

The group is mostly new to D&D. The barbarian player started out as your stereotypical meathead, but conflict between the chaotic fey (elf & gnome) with the divine lawful goodie two shoes (pally & monk) has forced him to become the neutral arbitrator for in-party disputes, which is hilarious.

My dragon monk is a personal homebrew that is heavily influenced by the Draconic Sorcerer. Bahamut is my god, naturally.

My group is currently at level 3. We have:

A Hill Dwarf Battle Master Fighter (me)
A Human Monk
A Mountain Dwarf Cleric
A Gnome Bard
and a High Elf Wizard

We used to have a Druid, too, but she had to leave a couple sessions into the campaign and we brought the Monk in to replace her.

The PotA game I play in. Most of us are level 6.

Human Cleric (Life) of Helm - My character. A former city watch who became a cleric of Helm after he miraculously managed to save a wounded ally during a siege of the city.
Wood Elf Rogue (Assassin) - Adventurers with the party to avenge his brother's death (the player's previous character).
Human Paladin (Vengeance) - Leeroy Jenkins.
Human Bard (Valor) - Investigator currently trying to track down some missing people.
Tiefling Wizard (Evocation) - Another Leeroy Jenkins who is just about to cause the good cleric to change his alignment (if he doesn't get him killed first).

In the ToA game I run. Most of them are level 4.

Human Monk (Shadow) - A bounty hunter who is a member of the Zhentarim.
Human Cleric (Life) of Amaunator
Tortle Barbarian - A gladiator who recently escaped enslavement when the ship transporting him mutinied.
Human Druid (Moon)
Human Druid (Moon) / Ranger (Hunter)
Human Wizard (TBD) - This will be a new character. The player's previous character (a tiefling warlock archaeologist), died in the last session.

We are an adventuring company self titled: The Swans of Argent.

Currrent Roster (Level 7, finishing White Plume Mtn)

Human Eldritch Knight (myself)

Goliath Champion -killed a beast his village revered as a God, thinks he is invincible. Starting to learn he isn’t.

Wood Elf Thief: from Al-Quadim, girl Aladdin

Rock Gnome Paladin of Devotion: Looks like a Defender from Etrian Oddyssey with the voice of Bubbles from Power Puff girls. Rides on an armored panther she adopted.

Human Druid of the Moon: newcomer, bit of a prankster

Wood Elf Revised Beastmaster: Strong silent type who pala with his Panther buddy Cynthia.

At our base, we have several other PCs we switch with, including:

Human Alchemist: Victim of an arranged marriage where it turns out he actually began to care for his new wife. Both families are deep in debt and were hoping the other could pay them off. Reluctantly adventured now to send money back home to restore the family honor. Would rather be making perfume.

Human Battlemaster 5 / Paladin 2: the actual founder and leader. He encountered a Ghost at the Sunless citadel and went from being a wide wyed 20 year old to a 60 year old man. This had a profound effect on the Player and PC and he atarted the company when he realized he can’t be an adventurerer forever. Sometimes the “old man” comes on missions to show us what’s up.

Dwarf Champion: another founding member.

Human War Wizard: interning with the Swans from another mercenary Company

Human Samurai (Barbarian)

Human Phoenix Sorcerer: dresses and acts like a Japanese super hero. Lots of posing and shouting out the names of his attack.

The 5e campaign where I am a player, the party is as follows:

A gnome artificer who built himself a clockwork faerie dragon and has been knocked out god knows how many times.
A human illusionist wizard, who wears magical full plate armor with an AC of 22, and a Wisdom score of 6. Said armor is cursed and sentient and built by the artificer.
A tabaxi swashbuckler rogue/drunken monk (myself)

I'm currently running two games, set in the same world at the same time but with only two overlapping players. It's a lot of fun because team A and team B are constantly interacting indirectly through the game world.

The Troubleshooters: We find trouble. And shoot it.

Thunder 8, Tabaxi Eldritch Knight : stranded from his homeland, searching for his crew members who also got stranded in the city

The Duke, Human Druid of the Land: trying to restore his standing with his druidic order after he torched their archives by accident. Is insane and frequently tries to break the game (occasionally succeeds)

WRENEGADE, Kenku Battlemaster: A 2ft tall ball of feathered fury. Knows how to say only one word, his name. Also a mafia enforcer. And a wren.

Exotorum, Half Elf Wild Magic Sorcerer: was a homeless person, is now bright red with purple hair due to wild surges.

Wiley Steve, Human Thief: Horribly beat up and disfigured old man, but still alive. Unsure if he's either super lucky or unlucky.

Toble, Forest Gnome Valor Bard: Constantly gets arrested for small crimes, like aggressively playing the lute at people. Is the team's medic.

Reed, Lightfoot Halfling Assassin: Officially an orphan chimney sweep, unofficially a noble assassin. Hiding from an arranged marriage.

Orsik, Mountain Dwarf Fighter/Abjurer: The soft spoken voice of reason, veteran of the Demon Wars. Frequently misheard.

Reccar, Bugbear Open Palm Monk: Was abducted by Fey 500 years ago, enslaved as a chef, was only just now released. Wants to open a gourmet restaurant line, Reccar's Yum Yum Hut.

The Well Constructed Yurts: All hail Raxivort, God of Xvarts!

Nymphadora, Forest Gnome Valor Bard: Reasonable, friendly, oddly bloodthirsty. Has bitter longstanding rivalry with Strawberry. Befriends ogres, threatens to turn PC assassin into boots.

Strawberry, Kenku Lore Bard: Very curious, mimics most interesting thing he's seen recently. Outperformed Nymphadora at a music championship by copying her, is unaware of her hatred. Is currently known as Stealthberry. Is a vulture.

Iskander, Tiefling Enchanter: Professional charlatan, amateur Raxivort impersonator. Started a new religion, with himself as the central deity. Has entourages of Xvarts following him in devotion and terror. Plays WRENEGADE in the other group.

Cecil, Lizardfolk Assassin: Is in it for himself. Almost betrayed the party, but is handy with a shovel. Currently a werewolf.

Purrsilla, Tabaxi Land Druid: Quiet, insanely competent. Goes along with whatever mad scheme the party is up to, saves their bacon with distressing regularity.

Nyx, Tabaxi Ranger: Fellow charlatan and con artist alongside Iskander. Retired to a nice patch of forest after accidentally murdering the ranger in charge of protecting it.

Kragr, "Human" Monster Hunter: Is a veteran of the Demon Wars. Formerly a dwarf, but tons of curses changed that. Gives good advice, but is pretty doom and gloom "We're all going to dieeee!" Plays Wiley Steve in the other group.

Current group is;

Nergui “Strong Silent Type”, 4 Half-Orc Cavalier Fighter, betrayed by his brothers who killed his father. He killed himself to die honorably after their implications. This player is more into optimizing and killing stuff, so his character doesnt say much.

Chatanka “Tactical Genius”, Level 4 Human Oath of Ancients Paladin, raised in a Spartan type village to be the best and most honorable warrior. Went down swinging when a giant and his horde of bandits took down their walls.
The youngest member of the party who considers himself the leader, earned his nickname after his notorious attempt to grapple... A snake. It didn’t end well. Now the DM likes to throw snakes at him to mess with him.

Cyra “DeadEye”, Level 4 Drow Warlock, the daughter of a prostitute, Cyra was raised in a brothel until a vindictive zealot decided to purge the town of sinfulness. She narrowly escaped the slaughter and ran into the mountains, where she met the Goddess of the Moon and accepted her as a patron. The same Zealot later came to her for help, and she punished his evil and deceit by poisoning his son with what was supppsed to be a cure. He came back, with backup, and took her down. Hates men, and lets Chatanka think he’s the leader while she actually steers the party and acts as the face. Esrned her nickname when she critfailed her Eldritch Blast and hit me, instead.

And my characted, Gabby the Pheonix, level 4 half elf bear totem Barbarian. Raised as a princess in a strict elf clan, she was meant to be the perfect wife to a prominent ruler to solidify her clans status. Instead, she longed to be a shield maiden like her mother, who died in childbirth. She trained in secret with a sword with her retainer, and when the day finally came to be betrothed, she fought a duel for her own hand in disguise. She won, but greatly upset the man she was meant to be married, and had to be exiled lest he declare war. Later, the same man hunted her in exile and had his archers take her down. Passionate, blood thirsty, and confused, Gabby often butts heads with Cyra over her firm devotion to the Gods, and is still sore over losing a duel to Chatanka.

After their individual deaths, these four were sponsored by the Gods for ressurrection, and brought back to the life to be their champions. We’re currently uncovering a cult involving some type of dragon god, but we dont know much yet.

The Well Constructed Yurts:

These characters are awesome, particularly WRENEGADE and Nymphadora; your group sounds like great fun. I have to know: how did that group name come along? I laughed for half a minute at that.

Our current game features:

Kyrinn (me): CN VHuman Paladin of Treachery/Shadow Sorcerer. Noble-born Karrnathi Seeker sent to Deneith after her Dragonmark manifested. Misotheistic member of the Blood of Vol. She has a skeledad (Bone Knight, commander of the Ebon Skull) as well as a non-skeledad; the skeledad is her biological father. Thinks zombies “smell like home”. Does alchemy as a hobby and is irritated that people are creeped out by bloodspikes. Favours a slightly unfeasibly large halberd. Battlefield lockdown specialist and Darkness fighter. Can spike damage like nobody’s business.

Diedvath: LN VHuman Hexblade. Fisherman from a tiny island in the middle of the ocean. That island happens to be where a kraken lives; its name is a long burble in Deep Speech that shortens to “Bob”. Fortysomething and a bit paunchy, so rather unthreatening-looking overall. Knows nothing about Khorvaire so requires a lot of explaining. Excellent cook. Melee tank, has highest consistent damage from high Cha and Hex. Teams up with Kyrinn to share the Darkness bubble. His sword is made of the congealed desire to hit things.

Sister Benevolence: LG Tiefling War Cleric of the Silver Flame. Raised as a nun in Thrane, and has a lot of guilt over being demon-blooded. Team conscience (because most of us aren’t so fussed about morality) and person that makes us not die. Slowly getting over her need to martyr herself. Recently learned she may be Graz’zt’s daughter. Secondary frontliner with a demon-slaying flaming sword that she’s killed one Hezrou with already.

Seregil: CN High Elf Thief. Based on a character from a novel. Kicked out of Aerenal for currently unknown reasons. Flamboyant as heck and a more than occasional crossdresser. Rolled a natural 20 on his first disguise check so the Q’barran authorities are looking for “Lady Gwethelyn”, Kyrinn thought he was a changeling, and the Riedran ambassador was extremely confused. Crushing hard on Alec. Just picked up a cursed +2 bow that guarantees Sneak Attack but gives Sunlight Sensitivity and is probably going to start making him murder people. Melee striker, also uses thrown rocks as a ranged weapon with which he crits improbably often.

Alec: NG Half-Elf Revised Hunter Ranger. Adorably naive and clueless. Descendent of a failed Lyrandar expedition to Sarlona, was found by the next expedition and hustled home because he has the Mark of Storms. Has Favoured Enemy: Aberrations which we have been using as Quori-detecting radar. Primary ranged attacker with Sharpshooter, does very solid damage.

Marjoram: N Cliffwalk Shifter Scout Rogue. Extremely nervous at all times. Was in the Blademarks for a while, sent on several missions that only she survived, mostly by running and hiding. Slowly bonding with the party over food. Secondary ranged attacker, effectively invisible a lot of the time.

In the Lost Mines of Phandelver game I’m running for my family, characters are a little more prosaic but they’re new, it’s to be expected. The ones that stand out a bit are Halldor, notably handsome half-orc Ranger, and the High Elf Mage Dalethor “Dalet to my friends, which you are not.”

Our frenetic Westmarches-style game ended recently, and that one featured a variety of odd folk: a half-elf Ranger who made it her goal to bed every Druid she met, an extremely boisterous half-elf frat boy Fighter, a half-elf flame sorcerer who was really quite pleasant apart from his belief that his god will burn the whole world in fire... there were a lot of half-elves. We joked that there’s just one elf dude on the continent and he is paying all the alimony. Probably the oddest character was the horrifically scarred human assassin rogue/ranger who was extremely enthusiastic about friendship and smiley faces.

We're a band of hired mercenaries for an exploration company funded by Volo. Currently we have:

A human wizard who is definitely not a tiefling wild sorcerer. The face who talked a hostile hobgoblin civilization into peace talks and trade with the explorers.
A halfling assassin with great Int skills. Likes to think of himself as an affable murderer, but has actually not murdered anyone at all.
a kenku mastermind whi mostly cowers and shoots things from the shadows. Tends to go with the flow.
A half-orc monk named Savage who embodies his name. He may have torn the head off of the body of a dead PC out of general excitability, erasing the change of resurrection.
A quiet half-elf lore bard that plays like a cleric.
A deceased warlock and ranger. I reject all responsibility for their deaths. The players have rolled a dragonborn champion and some kind of wizard.

I've had several parties this year.

My first one had a half-orc Totem barb, a human Open Hand monk, a high elf thief, and a human land druid.

The second was a half-orc Totem barb, a human swashbuckler, a lizardfolk war mage, a firbolg nature cleric, and a halfling glam bard. All of them had single-level dips into GOOlock.

My current party includes a human swashbuckler, a skeleton vengeance pally/sorcerer, a dryad shepherd druid, and a dragonborn evocation wizard.

I'd like to introduce you all to the White Griffon, for whom I am the Dungeon Master. They're all 9th level.

-Feawis (CG air genasi wild magic sorcerer): A bit of a trickster with heart of gold, her goal in adventuring is to get enough funds to help out the struggling magic academy that she went to to help her understand her sorcerer abilities. She also has a sentient shapeshifting weapon, and is likely to multiclass into Hexblade. She missed the last session and the level-up, so maybe she already has.
-Lo-Kag "Wormkiller" Ogolokanu (LN goliath totem barbarian): The metaphorical 'runt' of his tribe, he failed to live up to the chief's ideals and so he was given the nickname Wormkiller as a parody of one of his tribe's heroes, whose name was Wyrmkiller, as in a dragon-slayer. Said Wyrmkiller is now dead by Lo-Kag's hand.
-Vistra Steedfast (N wood elf war cleric): The winner of of the prestigious "edgiest backstory" award, she was enslaved by duergar from a young age and forced to do all kinds of nasty things. She carries a holy symbol in the shape of a griffon, but so far no-one has been able to tell her what god it belongs to. For the last couple of levels she was replaced by
-Camilla "Cobble" Remi (CN rock gnome arcane trickster): Orphaned by a criminal organisation/large city-state, and only 8 years old at the time of the campaign. She learned her magic from scavenging pieces of scrolls, and is somewhat of a prodigy. The criminal organisation that orphaned her has been dealt with, so she'll be fading into the background so Vistra can come back for the next plot arc.
-Moonlight (CN pixie nomad mystic): The weird one of the group, she's a pixie because as a brand-new DM I didn't know any better, but now that I do I don't want to force the player to change their character. Don't worry, her pixie-ness doesn't make her overpowered. She got psionic abilities from Far Realm exposure and may or may not actually be eldritch entities collectively imitating the deceased original.
-Krag (NG half-orc oathbreaker paladin): Only became an oathbreaker at the end of the last session when he finally renounced the evil god who had been trying to manipulate him from the start. He was given a holy symbol just like Vistra's shortly afterward, but he has yet to swear a new oath.

Current party that I'm in:

Myself - A Tiefling 6 BM Fighter/1 Shadow Sorc: Former Harper Bounty Hunter turned "leader" of the adventuring party, or at least trying to point us in the right direction. Tries to be a strategist in battle, but is often foiled by other party members being "friendly" to targets that they really shouldn't be.

Half-Elf Wild Sorc - Entertainer background. Likes to give long performances to pep up the party and entertain the masses during downtime. Also likes trying to pretend that he's creatures that he's not, such as a Goblin. Usually unsuccessful in these efforts. Is good at blowing things up, though. Has accidentally summoned the same unicorn multiple times.

Half-Orc Tempest Cleric - Angry, likes to gamble. Also likes to stay in the back and blast away while we're all in the meat grinder, and is oddly successful about it. Gets slightly mad when another PC or NPC worships a "false god" (i.e., not Hoar).

Dragonborn Wizard - Our resident book worm. Knows lots of stuff. Player often forgets exactly what she knows, leading to hilarity. Also, doesn't like to explain much to the group when she does learn something, often leading to additional hilarity. Often rolls her eyes at the rest of the party's idiocy and bad ideas.

Bugbear Valor Bard - Stealthy and often abuses "hammerspace" for their wide variety of weapons they like to bring along. Often tries to make friends with everyone we come across, which usually means he's out front alone when battle starts.

Tabaxi Swashbuckler Rogue - Quick with his feet and with his blade. Great for getting in and out of places unnoticed. Hates water and getting dirty. Will often try to sneak food during combat.

This was a great question. It's helped answer something I've wondered for a while. As long as we've been playing 5e, we've only had two rogues on our teams. One of our rogues was an assassin. The Arcane Trickster was by a part-time player. And we had a bard once. So I've wondered how many other groups are like this.

Going down the lists here, Rogues don't seem to be all that common. I guess it's because, as one of our guys says, "if you can't pick the lock, you can still break it."

I have two campaigns: one I DM, and one I play in.

The one I DM is for a table of 7 players, none of whom have ever played a tabletop RPG before this campaign. That party is all level 5, and consists of:

A drow Celestial Sorceress
A variant human Hunter Ranger
A winged tiefling Beast Master Ranger and her companion, a giant badger
A lightfoot halfling Ranger using a homebrew archetype (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?545682-Ranger-Archetype-Nature-Warden-PEACH) I wrote for her
A silver dragonborn Assassin Rogue
A tabaxi Arcane Trickster Rogue
And a half-elf Land Druid.

The campaign I play in is based on Warhammer, and consists of three players:

Myself, a hill dwarf 11 Way of the Wench (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?539494-Monastic-Tradition-Tavern-Wench-PEACH) Monk/1 Rogue
A mountain dwarf level 12 Horizon Walker Ranger
And a mountain dwarf level 12... uh, actually, I'm not sure she's ever actually chosen a tradition... I should bring that up next session... Wizard

These characters are awesome, particularly WRENEGADE and Nymphadora; your group sounds like great fun. I have to know: how did that group name come along? I laughed for half a minute at that.

Thanks! It's a bit of a long story about how the Well Constructed Yurts got their name, but the short of it is they seized on an element of my description of a nomads' camp and bluffed the guards into believing that yes, their band of minstrels was in fact known as the Well Constructed Yurts. In fact, Nymphadora went out of her way to take measurements of said yurts and is intending to open a yurt construction business, endorsed by the newly created Reformed Raxivortan faith.

Meanwhile, half the team has started calling themselves Jacket of Rats after one of their adversaries they recently fought (a sentient rat pack in a trench coat with a wand of fireballs... good times).

They're an odd but hilarious group...
