One of my players character died last night and wanted to know if he could combo Thri-Ranx /Dragonborn and I told him I would get back to him. Is it possible and if so what would it do to the Thri-Ranx

What is a Thri-Ranx? Do you mean a Thri-Kreen?

it's some garbage from dandwiki (https://dnd-wiki.org/wiki/Thri-Ranx_(3.5e_Race))

(bla bla don't use dandwiki)

in any event, no, it's not possible. it's a monstrous humanoid. only humanoids can become dragonborn

It seems to be an adaptation of Thranx from Alan Dean Foster's Pip&Flinx universe.

I'm not aware of a humanoid only restriction for Dragonborn, so I believe it would work. See here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=9889686&postcount=19) for discussion of a Dragonborn Warforged.

However, you'll lose almost all the racial traits. What's left is:

Type: Monstrous Humanoid
Ability Modifiers: Dex+2, Int+2, Cha-2
Size: Medium
Speed: unclear. Either 30' (humanoid) or 40' (centauroid)
Languages: Add Draconic
Favored Class: Any+ Fighter
LA+1
You lose everything else, including the extra hands.

And then you layer on dragonborn traits.
