hitting a bit of mechanical writers block here, and looking to fill in the blanks on where to take my Goblin Cohort i picked up. Lemme give some back story (promise, ill be brief).

Thorael, the Elven wizard had his family run out of town on a rail. See the family has believed and does believe that there was some mistake eons ago, and that Goblins were actually intended to be one of the Races of Light. It's actually a very funny story, but i promised to be brief... Anyway, the Goblin orphanage they were running burnt down, half the town went up with it, one thing lead to another, and they find themselves outcasts. Thoreal, heads south with his Hireling Gilly, while the folks head north to "spread the word". He wants to help change the goblin culture from within. Grooming Gilly to be a leader of his people and show them the light, etc, etc. Level 6, Thorael picks up Leadership, and rates a Lvl 1 Cohort. Enter Gilly the Apprentice...

Gilly's perspective... This silly elf wants to teach me magic?! Sweet. I'm not gonna be a chort all my life. I'll learn all i can from him and his lackeys, Return home, Take the throne (by force if necessary). Forge an alliance with the elves, or enslave, or destroy them...whatever, either way collect/steal/aquire all of their magical knowledge, and at some point... take over the world!! Speaking of magic, this Favored soul chick may have the right idea too...

so... Gilly - Plotter, schemer, would be goblin usurper, all around "good guy" *over exaggerated wink*. His stats are bunk. So going straight wizard is.. a possibility i guess. We're basic SRD, but the Completes have come into play, so with some negotiation it should be allowed. Anything else would require my best diplomacy check to get the DM to ok, but nothing is out of the question... I'm looking for some mechanical suggestions here. I had briefly tossed around the idea of Mystic Theuge as the Lower stats actually benefit MAD a bit, but goblin king needs some kind of melee/fighter vibe. Although, thats what Troll slaves are for... hmm. Feats, PrCs, any character concept tips/thoughts/ideas... What do you guys think??

Gilly's Stats (Base Goblin stats, rearranged for more caster friendliness)

Attributes
STR...8..-1..[10 Base –2 Racial]
DEX..10..+0..[8 Base +2 Racial]
CON...9..-1..[9 Base]
INT..13..+1..[13 Base]
WIS..12..+1..[12 Base]
CHA...9..-1..[11 Base –2 Racial]

Wow... he's not even giving you the elite array for your cohort? Harsh.

However, I would say a straight wizard would be good, since you're mostly core. You MIGHT try spellthief or something like that, since you're a goblin, but core is generally best for you, and your master is a wizard. Cross-class some skills in Sleight of hand, disable device, and open lock (he should be able to pick up a rank in a rank in two of them at 1st level, given his intelligence and the requirements of K:A and Spellcraft), and maybe enough Rogue to shoot him towards Arcane Trickster.

If you take him pure wizard, he'd probably be better off with that 12 in con. But then, if he wants to be a ruler, some decent cha wouldn't go amiss either.

If you want to think about this in pure mechanics and metagaming, you should consider how long this campaign is going to last, and what level Gilly will get up to. If he's never going to get spells above level 3, then his Int can be left alone. Specialise him in spells that don't give saving throws, and his poor bonus won't matter too much.

Think about equipping him with items that your party no longer needs. If they're going to sell it to a shop at 1/2 price, why not sell it to him at half price? Stat boosting items in any stat are going to be useful to him with the standard array.

yeah... the -2 in Cha hurts as far as any of the Ruling skills go. Stats are pretty fixed as i've already committed them to the DM. Arcane Trickster could be something i can look into, hadn't really considered taking him that way. I suppose that could fit... hmm, have to do somemore thinking here.
