I'm building a backup character for this campaign (Mummy's Mask) I'm in, and so far I have her down as an Aasimar Bolt Ace Gunslinger (Mostly because my DM isn't a fan of gunslingers, but the BAG is a bit of an exception so far as it lacks black powder). I'm on the fence if I'm going go past level 5 or 6, and if not then what class should I have her multiclass into?

Like I said, she's an aasimar, wielding a Light Crossbow (maybe I should do Heavy?)
Right now I'm considering: Paladin, Inquisitor, or Ranger. I'm open to other ideas.

This campaign so far has resulted in a lot of character deaths, mostly due to unlucky rolls on the part of the party, and I've only lost one character so far.

Guide/Trapper ranger could be decent enough, especially if your group lacks a trapfinding specialist (my favorite ranger, tbh). And since you're probably going to start with Bolt Ace, getting spells at all is pretty much pointless at the level you'd get them. Skirmisher is alright, but I think Trapper is better because of having Trapfinding exactly like a rogue (including magical traps). Guide is awesome as well, because you get the benefit of Favored Enemy, except that you don't have to choose any types.

Alternatively, if you're willing to consider taking Bolt Ace a bit later, Starting with Divine Hunter/Warrior of the Holy Light (Paladin) could get you quite amazing healing capability even without spellcasting. Of course, this would be slightly MAD, because (iirc) Bolt Ace gains grit with Wisdom while Divine Hunter still relies quite a bit on Charisma.

I may look into the Paladin, I've never played one before, and the ranger. I've been debating the use of Inquisitor because it seems like a cross between the two. I was also considering a class that would get an animal companion or something just to round out the character and the party.
