3.PF Bard item up to 9k GP?

This Bard used to be a fairly old (Wyrm maybe?) Brass dragon, but is now a human child with no memory.

He wakes up with a single magic item worth 9,000 gp or less. What is it?

Character notes: DFI Bard level 4, perform sing, draconic feats including senses and breath.

Just a single item? Honestly, it's boring, but I'd be tempted to go for something defensive to keep you alive until you can scrape together the scratch to buy your nice day-to-day toys. 9k can buy either some nice +3 armor (assuming you fudge the cost of the armor itself and not just the magic on it) or a +3 Cloak of Resistance. Super boring, but again, staying alive until you get to the good parts is sometimes worthwhile.

Or, you know, a Rod of Ropes. It's 4k rather than 9k, but it's also a Rod of Ropes.
