Yeah it is.

Most veterans of this thing already know about this - and it's probably a bit short-notice for newcomers - but a thread must go up.

I mean, it's tradition.

We've had a few hiccups this year that delayed info getting out. There was a small set of fiascos surrounding our venues.

But anyway, yes.

Trogland XII is, in fact, happening.

What:

The 12th Annual Trogland Meeup! A dozen years! We're gathering to hang out for a weekend, playing tabletop games, goofing off, and generally enjoying life.

Traditional activities include:

Board Games!
Tabletop RPGs!
Awesome People!
Tasty Snacks!
More Games!
Sometimes outdoor activities!
Whatever!

Where:

Johnson City, TN. Why Johnson City? Because a few of us who started this thing happen to live here, and we asked really, really nicely. Plus, it's a great part of the country.

This year's meetup will be held at the Baymont Inn & Suites (https://www.hotelsone.com/johnson-city-hotels-us/baymont-by-wyndham-johnson-city.html?as=g&aid=92372372918&dsti=171332&dstt=8&akw=baymont+inn+and+suites+johnson+city&asrc=Search&ast=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI17LlnoSl2wIVzSWBCh1-0AO5EAAYASAAEgIqX_D_BwE&label=g_92372372918&lbl=g_92372372918) and Dewayne's World Comics & Games (https://www.facebook.com/DewaynesWorldComics/).

We have use of the hotel's conference room space from friday at 5pm through saturday at midnight. This is a decent-sized hall with tables & chairs - you know, just the basics to play some games. We recommend attenders stay at the Baymont hotel. For one, it's awfully convenient. For two, attenders get a discounted rate. (I don't have final confirmation as yet, but I was quoted $59/night - tell 'em you're with the Trogland Meetup)

Sunday we'll be meeting at Dewayne's World from 11am to 6pm. We're taking over one of the game rooms where we'll have 4-5 tables. Also, as some of you know, Dewayne has a pretty awesome selection of games, and you should support his store. I know most of you are looking for an excuse to pick up a new game anyway.

When:

June 29 - July 1 2018.

Yes, I know that's just a little over a month away. Usually we have this thing set up and running by sometime in february. This year there were...problems...to put it mildly. We apologize for the last-minute-ness. We're already talking about how we might adjust for next year.

How:

In order to fund our little get-together, we set up an official organization and a registration site to allow us to collect contributions.

The registration cost for this year is $25, the same as its been since we started doing it this way. Our expenses have steadily increased, but we know the trip itself isn't really cheap for most people and we're not any kind of for-profit enterprise, so we do everything we can to keep it minimal. As I always caution, the cost to attend next year's event may increase. Always uncertain is the future.

The vast majority of this cost goes to paying for the venue(s) and food/snacks for attenders, but when there's room in the budget, we have also been known to do swag/freebie items and game giveaways.

Anyway...

We hope you'll come join us. Whether we have a ton of people or just a few, this event is always a blast.

Catch you soon!

Well, it IS happening...

...just...not this year. :smallfrown:

For the first time since we started in 2007, we're skipping a year on this meetup. Even when we got the logistics off the ground, scheduling conflicts for a critical mass of regular attenders killed it for this summer.

Trogland XII will be coming in 2019.

Bigger. Better. More existent.

Please stand by.
