Hello all.
I'm willing to take over WW Central (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36074) for Lucky.
This thread was designed by Lucky originally for the purposes of coordinating and maintaining all the werewolf games and variants. It has become a great tool for us.
With the recent overwhelming popularity of the Werewolves variant games, it has been decided that one central thread should be created to manage all these games. This is where you come to place a claim on running your own Werewolves or Werewolves variant game. It can also be used to develop ideas and gather interest for your own version of the game.
Whatever you're looking for in regards to werewolf games can be found on this page.
Maybe not in this post, but somewhere on this first page.
Everything from start dates to active games, rules (and optional rules) to games archives can be found here along with tools designed to make your game run smoother.

--Basic Game-Play Overview--The game is played in turns that consist of two different phases.
There's a day phase that happens from dawn til dausk in game. This period lasts 48 hours. During this time all the players try to decide who the bad guys are by voting for them. Votes are done in red text. Whoever has the most votes after 48 hours is removed from the game.
The next phase is the night phase, which lasts from dusk til dawn. This phase lasts 24 hours. During this phase, anyone that has a special action to perform during that time does so via PM to the narrators. This is the phase of the game where the wolves would tell the narrators who they would like to kill.

After time's up, the narrators will post the opening of the following Day Scene and it starts all over again.
This continues until either A) all of the Wolves are destroyed by the Villagers -or- B) the Wolves reduce the total number of non-wolf players to equal their own.

This is just a brief overview of the rules.
See below for the original rules by DungeonMaster77 or go to a game thread for individual games' specific rules.

--Original Werewolf Rules by DM77----Note that these are the rules used for Werewolf Classic--
Here are the rules:

You have any given number of players, and as soon as I get enough for the current round, I will begin. I (or whomever the co-Narrator is) will PM each player with their role, which will be one of the following, determined randomly, without regard to what they have played in the past:

Villager: You are a villager. Your job is to stay alive, and ferret out the werewolves. Counts, obviously, as a villager.

Seer: Your job after night falls, is to PM the Narrator and co-Narrator to look into the heart of. You may or may not want to reveal who you are as you will be a target for the werewolves to kill, and may be accused of being the Devil, or even possibly the fool. When you select a player, the answer given to you will be villager, fool, or werewolf. Seers see the Devil as a Werewolf.

Werewolf: Your job after night falls, is to lie, deceive, and cajole the villagers into not voting for you. PM the narrator with your vote on whom to kill. The Narrator will PM you with whomever is the other werewolf (or werewolves) is (or are), so you can coordinate a vote, and send the narrator your final vote. You, obviously, count as a werewolf. If there is a tie between the werewolves, that the lycanthropes cannot resolve (as to who will be killed), simply PM the Narrator and co-Narrator, and one of us will be the tie breaker. As we are all mature adults here, we hope that it will never come to this rare happenstance.

Now, this is the minimum cast of characters. We will be playing with a slightly added cast:

Mason: Your job is to ferret out the werewolves, and to protect your fellow Mason(s). There will always be a minimum of 2 Masons in a group. Your votes count as villagers.

Fool: Thinks he is a seer. Is told that he is a seer. When a fool gets his foresight; in the evening, he gets a random chance as to what he sees when he points somebody out. When he points to the Seer, he will always see the Fool, and visa versa. Counts as a villager

Baner: This person is the carrier of the wolvesbane. His job is to protect someone he believes is a villager, from the nightly killings of the werewolves. Counts as a villager.

Devil: Is basically the seer for the werewolves. Counts as a werewolf.

You may recall, I spoke several times about a counting as a and votes. Well, it is simple. Once the majority has voted for one person, that person is lynched. Night falls, and it begins again. The lynched person is out, and can make comments, but nothing that could influence a vote. When a lynching happens, it is revealed as to which position the person was. After this, night falls, morning follows, and it begins again...

Victory Conditions:

For the villagers to win, the villagers must kill all of the werewolves.

For the werewolves to win, they must simply reduce the number of villagers to equal their current numbers.

Things to keep in mind:
Yes, werewolves may lie about being the seer.
Yes, werewolves can (and have, in my experience) kill the Devil.
Yes, Masons get killed for protecting a brother Mason, as others may see it as a werewolf protecting a werewolf.Post #82 of the original Werewolves Game:

Ahh, the seeds of distrust take root...

*snip* to get to the important part*

From now on, I will stop trying to interpret implied *points at [fill in blank here]*, and will only change votes, or add votes based on people who actually post *points at [fill in blank here]* at the end of their post. For clarity's sake.Note that these should still be in red text.

[I]--Interesting and Important Notes by Lucky--
Also for inspiration and other possible purposes, the Mafia Wikipedia Article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_%28game%29)

A couple other things to note when running a game of Werewolves:

A) Having a co-narrator is highly recommended, and from now on is mandatory in Werewolves and Werewolves Classic. This is to assist with the flow of the game, and just makes it easier on the narrator.
B) If you are running a new edition of an established stream of Werewolves, you must wait until the end of the current edition until starting the next one. You may begin sign-ups before.

Rules on cheating:

The SMBG stance on cheating applies to all of these games, and cheaters will be punished as dictated by the SMBG rules.

However, after the culprit has been punished and s/he has served his time off from the werewolf games, it will become forgotten history. No one is to speak of it further, and any concern will be PMed to the narrators of that game, not posted in the thread.

Spreadsheet (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p0UxBstxYZ1MNh0hSi8F-YA) of the start dates and narrators.
Finally, if anyone has any other ideas as far as what to put in this thread, feel free to voice them here or PM them to me.

((Sorry about the multiple posts in a row here, but with the things that are going to need to be updated for this, I thought it prudent to have the different parts individualized for ease of editing.))

--Scheduling--

We've all decided amongst ourselves that we should only have one or two games starting in any given week. It has been discussed repeatedly and everyone seems to agree.

Please PM me or post here if you're planning on starting a game, so that we can coordinate everything properly.
This will ensure that every game gets the attention that it deserves and will make every game more enjoyable.
Thanks in advance.

Just as the Three Post Rule is usually enforced by ourselves rather than getting Mods involved, so too should rules that we've created for ourselves be so enforced. Please politely direct anyone starting a game out of turn to this thread.
As this is not a forum rule, this can only be enforced by us.
A little common courtesy goes a long way.

On the Issue of Scheduling

I'd also like to make a recommendation that he title of this thread contain something along the lines of "Please read this before starting your own WW game" although that's incredibly long. I don't know. I just think that this flurry of new games partially came about because a lot of the newer folks didn't know we had tried to setup a schedule.

In that vein, I wonder if it would be helpful to do a little self policing and when new game threads start up that aren't on the schedule someone could politely post in the recruitment thread to redirect the game starter here. You know, just to nudge people into trying to stick to the schedule. Just a thought. And I agree with Zeb on the point that perhaps a note should be made on starting any new game. However the fact that new threads can't be made in this forum right now hinders people from reading it/knowing about it.

Perhaps, as we are all shareholders in this, we can let those who do want to make a game know about the schedule and how to get on it, just like we nudge those who break the three post rule. With everyone's help, we can ensure a crazy start of games at the same time doesn't happen again.

Yeah, I will have to agree with problem of too many games starting up. I can understand everyone wants to run one, but sometimes the best idea is just to get on a wait list and run a current game.
That said, I think anyone who wants to start a new werewolf type game should contact me before they start it. This way we can arrange a good start date that won't step on the toes of other games. And since I've taken the reigns for WW Central, that duty would now go to me (for better or worse).

And.... A big Thank You to evnafets for updating the spreadsheet.
Now we just have to add in the new games and get an idea of where they're going to go in the mix.
Go and check the original werewolf spreadsheet again.

This is the spreadsheet. (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p0UxBstxYZ1MNh0hSi8F-YA)

I updated it quite a bit about a month ago, but I think the changes were never publishedAnd on the subject of the spreadsheet:
*snip*

Also, send me an e-mail at [email protected] if you want permission to edit the spreadsheet, I'll add anyone no problem. Then you can update information about your game as needed.

The spreadsheet - it's for everyone.

Also, who let the pie poisoner in the kitchen?
A note on posting Recruitment/Game Threads:
Once you've created your game, scheduled a start date, and you're ready to go, you'll have to post the threads in SMBG and get them moved to the Structured Games sub-forum. New threads cannot, at this time, be created.
To get them moved there, either PM Alarra or myself (or simply post here, which is the preferred method so that I can update the schedule properly) and it should be moved fairly quickly.
This was implemented at the sub-forum's creation to ensure that the games placed there actually belonged there. Conversations are supposedly in progress as to whether or not this extra step is needed anymore, but for the time being that's the way it is.

--Recruitment and Game Schedules--
Note that the date listed is for the Game Thread to go up,
not the recruitment thread.

--Narrating--
I'd like to note at this point that I did indeed steal most of the following from Lucky's posts, as well.

Looking for a co-narrator for one of your games?
Here is a list of people who want to help narrate, but don't necessarily have an idea of their own, or aren't picky about what they narrate. Give them a PM and ask them if they're up for it:

Co-Narrator List: Alarra
Andre Fairchilde
Eldritch Knight
Helgraf
Joosbawx
Kantur
Malmagor Andrigal
Pwenet
Raistlin1040
Raldor
Shadow
Supagoof
Traveling Angel
Zeb the Troll

The co-narrator serves many purposes
1) It can help with sending out the opening PM's to players.
2) it can give the narrator someone to talk to about the game and how its going
3) It is someone the narrator can plot with about any changes to make (but that's not relevant in classic)
4) if the narrator cannot fulfill his duties for any reason, the co-narrator can cover his back and make an update or two.
5) OOOOH, writing descriptions is good too.

Korith's Excel Spreadsheet. (http://hg.missingworlds.com/WerewolfGMTool.xls) - A great tool for Werewolves Classic to assign all the basic roles. Also includes an option to add up to 10 custom roles, making it also useful for almost any other werewolf variant.
Instructions are included inside.

Notes on Korith's Spreadsheet:

Having spoken with Korith, I've discovered something his spreadsheet was not designed to do, but he has suggested a workaround.

His spreadsheet is not designed to handle an alpha game, but he has suggested that should an alpha pick someone who already had a role, that role becomes reassigned. It's not the most effective solution, but it works.
Why would you try to assign roles before the Alpha had chosen their team?
You'd wait until the Alpha had chosen before deciding any other roles by necessity, wouldn't you?

I think it wouldn be easier to just remove the "wolf" roles (and their players) as choices and assign the roles remaining to the players remaining?

I haven't used his sheet yet, but that seems the most efficient to me. Yes, that's the most efficient way to do it, however, that then makes it difficult to import into a spreadsheet to actually track the game, and also doesn't account for the idea that a person could have an additional role besides 'wolf', such as the lovers, customarily.
But, unless I'm mistaken, his sheet only assigns one role per player, doesn't it?
So it would never assign a lover role to a wolf.
You'd have to do it twice, the second time for possible secondary roles.
IE: lovers, fueders, etc.
At least that's the way that I read it.

Just looked it up. That's the way it is.
When the players have been copied into place, the position randomizer will activate automatically. This randomizer assigns roles to each player using a simple card-shuffling algorithm, thus ensuring that every role to be assigned will be assigned, and that each player will have exactly one role.

*Is glad he's old fashioned and writes names on paper in a hat* So the only concern that we've found with Korith's wonderful tool is that in some circumstances you may need to use it twice with slightly different configurations each time in order to get a fully randomized role distribution.
This will come into play when you're running an Alpha Game or when you have possible secondary roles that could be in addition to the player's primary role (such as lovers, fueders, ect.).

Current List of Claims:This is the list of people who wish to run a game in the future and have placed claims on certain editions of Werewolves.

Mafia:
III- Joosbawx, Gezina

Alien Invasion:
II- PGCod, Doilemaster
III- Andre Fairchilde, EmeraldRose and ??? have expressed an interest, but nothing definitive has come of it yet.

(Note: Alien Invasion may or may not be up for grabs, please ask the current hosts before claiming the next version.)

Ye Olde West
(Supagoof reserves the right to hold onto Ye Olde West until he decides otherwise with the help of Raldor if he wishes.
He has expressed a possible interest in having a third however.
If this is something that you're interested in, PM him or post your request here.)

Rebellion
(Zeb the Troll reserves the right to hold onto Rebellion until he decides otherwise.)

Vampire
(Shadow and Helgraf reserve the right to hold onto Vampires until they decide otherwise.)

Journies on the TARDIS
(Korias has requested to be the main narrator for all future versions of TARDIS until further notice. Please PM him or ask here if you'd like to help.)

This is a Go-To-Guide for all your narration needs.

It lists handy stuff like a spreadsheet to randomly determine roles, who's running the next versions of games, who's willing to co-narrate with you, etc.

--Possible Roles List--
Alphabetical Within Each Respective Section
Roles listed in Dark Red usually adhere to the Wolve's win condition(s). Roles listed in Blue usually adhere to the Villager's win condition(s). Roles listed in Dark Orange usually have their choice as to which team to ally with during play. These Neutral Roles can be extremely difficult to balance during play for the inexperienced narrator.
Please note that any of these roles can have whatever NAME you choose in your game. These are simply the names as originally run (or most easily identifiable as) in their respective games. If you create a new Role for your game, please list it in the thread at the start of your game so that it may be added to this list (once the list is complete). Some Roles are followed with spoilers filled with discussion and/or comments about optional rules for said Role.

Standard (almost necessary) Roles:
Baner: Chooses one player to protect each night. That player can not be killed by the wolves while protected.
Devil: Seer for the Wolves (see Seer below). Sometimes starts with knowledge of other wolves, sometimes not.
Hey All,

I have a question: How have we been playing the Devil role? Have we been ruling that the Werewolves know who the devil is and visa versa? I have found some info that says the Devil doesn't know who the werewolves are and the werewolves don't know who the Devil is. I think that I am going to go with this as 1) It makes for an interesting game. The devil is steering votes to kill villaigers, but at the same time trying not to look like the Seer or Fool, so as to avoid getting themselves killed at night. 2) The Devil will have to be more careful as to who they give info to. The Devil may end up trusting the Masons, thinking them Werewolves, only to get himself killed. 3)The Seer and Fool are going to have more fun, possibly even going as far as to trick them into killing the Devil, posing as the Devil, granted, only to get themselves killed, but not before being able to leak the identities of the werewolves to the town. 4) The werewolves will have to be careful with whom they get information. Trust the wrong person and scenario #3 can happen!

What do you all think? This has become the adopted rule for Werewolf Classic. Fool: Is told that they are the Seer (see Seer below), but actually gets a random result when scrying.

Rules Question: Do the Seer and Fool only see Werewolf or Villager (or Fool), or do they see specific like the Devil? This is WWClassic, obviously.

They see specific roles. Originally for the fool I just decided for myself depending on how evil or cruel I was feeling that day, but I eventually started generating a number out of a list of all the remaining roles and took that.

In other words... If you have 2 wolves, 7 villagers and 1 seer left, in addition to the fool, you would generate a number between 1 and 10. If it was 1 or 2, they would see a wolf, if it was 3-9, they would see a villager, and if it was 10, they would see a Seer.Optional Predetermined "Fool's Scry" Roles
Save yourself some extra work every time the fool scries and assign everyone "fool roles" at the same time as you assign real roles. That way you just have to look it up on the list instead of counting how many of each are left each time, and it guarantees the fool gets consistent results for free.

Edit: Hmm, on second thought, that could lead to some bizarre readings like getting the Baner after the Baner has already been lynched, so it might not work so well. This could work well if you just play it as a villager after that happens. For example: who the Fool thinks is the Devil would just be "fool scried" as a regular wolf after that.Masons: A group of good guys that start the game knowing each other. Their numbers vary from game to game, from equal numbers with the wolves to possibly half that number.
Seer: Scries (*asks the narrators about*) one player each night and is granted knowledge of that player's Role in the game.
Villagers: Average player with no special powers. The vast majority of players in the game are usually Villagers or their equivalent.
Wolves: The team of bad guys that (usually) begin the game knowing each other and decide who to kill (remove from the game) each game night.

Common (unnecessary, but often used) Roles:Alpha Mason: Chooses his/her team of Masons.
Alpha Wolf: Chooses his/her team of Wolves.variations:
*Sometimes scries as a Villager.
*Sometimes has a recruitment ability that the Wolves lose if he/she is killed.
*Sometimes a combination of two, or even all three of these abilitiesDay Baner: Each night this player chooses one player from those remaining. That player can not be lynched the following day.variations:
*Chooses who to protect during the day phase. This variation is considered by some to be imbalanced and can possibly be game breaking if not limited in usage. Two or three times during the course of the game is a playable limit.
*Chooses player to protect by pointing at said player. Effectively makes said player invincible. This variation is, in many players opinions, imbalanced and quite broken if allied with the Wolves.Sniper/Sniper: May choose one player to kill during the night if he/she wishes.

"Neutral" Roles:

Random or Obscure Roles:

Roles Generally Considered To Be Imbalanced:
**note** Experience Required! If you intend on using any of these roles, it it absolutely necessary that you have developed/played/run enough games that you have the experience needed to neutralize the imbalance of simply having the role in the game.

The Fool

Rules Question: Do the Seer and Fool only see Werewolf or Villager (or Fool), or do they see specific like the Devil? This is WWClassic, obviously.

They see specific roles. Originally for the fool I just decided for myself depending on how evil or cruel I was feeling that day, but I eventually started generating a number out of a list of all the remaining roles and took that.

In other words... If you have 2 wolves, 7 villagers and 1 seer left, in addition to the fool, you would generate a number between 1 and 10. If it was 1 or 2, they would see a wolf, if it was 3-9, they would see a villager, and if it was 10, they would see a Seer.

Optional Predetermined "Fool's Scry" Roles[spoiler]
Save yourself some extra work every time the fool scries and assign everyone "fool roles" at the same time as you assign real roles. That way you just have to look it up on the list instead of counting how many of each are left each time, and it guarantees the fool gets consistent results for free.

Edit: Hmm, on second thought, that could lead to some bizarre readings like getting the Baner after the Baner has already been lynched, so it might not work so well. This could work well if you just play it as a villager after that happens. For example: who the Fool thinks is the Devil would just be "fool scried" as a regular wolf after that.

The Devil
Optional Rule

Helgraf's Scry Interference Rule

Ya know, I've thought of an interesting mini-variant that is useful in games with more than one scryier-type.

Scry interference: Should more than one scryier type scry the same person in the same round, all results focused on that person will fail, due to cross-scrying interference ... too many people using the third eye to try and look at the same person at the same time create resonance that effectively cancels them out. They'd know the scry failed and why, but not who the other parties looking were.

I figure it's not likely to happen often, but might encourage multiple scriers to use a different tactic than, say, every seer trying to scry, say Alarra* on night one.

Yeah, this variant is deliberately designed to try and get seers to vary their initial scries or risk losing a night's work. And yes, this variant is also designed to give some of the 'heavily scried' players a friggin break. It's well obvious that certain players get scried considerably more often than others, under the theory that somehow the 'best' players will get a disproportionate number of special roles, which in a non-alpha game shouldn't really be the case, yet the situation remains...

* Insert name of frequently scried player here as appropriate.

Alternate Role Possibilities

OOOOhh Fun! It's like going on Oprah and finding out you have a prize hidden under your chair.

Let's see, roles.....

Standard:smallsmile:
Baner
Seer
Fool
Masons
Townspeople
Devil
Werewolf
Alpha Wolf

Used in other WW but can be inlcuded:smallamused:
Lovers
Feuders
Consorts (Like in rebellion, where both die if person A dies, but not if person B dies)
Heir (Maybe an Heir Seer, where if the Baner dies, then the Heir steps up to fill the role. A second chance....)
Beast (Can take one other person down when killed)
Day Baner
Bandits + Banker ((If you want to add in the element of cash - though I reserve YOW gold! - which I'll probably start the next game of YOW in mid July due to the startup schedule being out of sorts....ah summertime.))

New Role ideas:smallbiggrin:
Shadow (In homage to Shadow who had this idea in the pirate III thread, wins if they survive the game.)
Invincible Llama (May be prevented from getting killed the first time, but not the second)
Invincible Duck (Same as above on on the werewolves/duck side of things)
Cat (Can spy to try and find the mouse and only the mouse - similar to Crocodile - May kill the mouse once found - wins if mouse is killed and survives game)
Mouse (Role is villager to all except the Cat - similar to Captain Hook - can only be killed by the cat - wins if survives game)
Game Over (Game ends immediately when this player is killed. All surviving players win - be they wolf or villager)
God of new Life (Person picks 1 player every 4th day to be rezzed.)
Your friend the Reaper (Person picks 1 player every 8th day to die.)
Zombie (Is already dead, can't be killed except by being rezzed. Points count until rezzed...)
Vampire (Is already dead, can't be killed except by being rezzed. Point don't count until rezzed....)
Sniper (Can kill one person each day)

Hmmm, I'll continue to think about these. I'm coming up with tons of ways to distort any WW game - so while Llama gets first dibs on whether or not to use one of these, please feel free to use them for your WW game after the Llama/Duck one starts.

Oh, and Llama, I'll help narrate/keep track of things if/when you want to give this game a try. Though I'll be just as happy to be in it. :smallwink:Sorry. I just had to embolden that one!

Variations/Alternate Games Not Running
Zombies By Vespe Ratavo
Zombies!
The town has been overrun by zombies! No one has any idea what is going on, but everyone who survived managed to make it to the mall. The problem is, the mall is surrounded by zombies.... and some of them have disguised themselves as survivors....

Roles:
Survivors (Villagers): The poor saps who survived the initial zombie attack. Not much in terms of special abilities, but they're the most numerous.

Zombies (Werewolves): Mmm....brains. The poor saps who got turned into zombies during the initial attack. The bad part is, the disease will get you if you get your brain eaten. The good news is, that to disguise themselves, the (regular) zombies had to give up their ability to transfer the disease. So the survivors have that going for them.

Geek (Baner): Before the attack (and after, cuz, the mall has a game store) you played D&D, Video games, etc, at an obsessive level. Normally this would have no effect, but your fanaticism drove you to research zombies however you could. And they called you crazy for learning how to repel zombies. Anyway, the Geek can protect one person each night from an attack (usually by zombies, but possibly by Leon).

Doctor (Seer): Aside from the mountains of cash, this job has other perks. Each night you may check someones pulse, run medical tests, use your psychic doctor powers, etc, to see if they are alive...or not.

Vampire (Devil): Well, no one said everyone turned into zombies. You can use your vampire-bat-morphing powers each night to sneak into someones shop and see who they are.

Mall Staff (Masons): Well, it was an ordinary day at the mall, until a bunch of noisy people came in and told you to lock the doors...zombies. Ah well. The Mall Staff know who the other mall staff are, so thats a good thing.

Nemesis (Alpha) : The one who started this whole zombie shenanigan... gets to choose his team of zombies, as well as Wesker, Krauser, and the Vampire. When scried looks like a survivor.

Psychopath (Fool): The zombie attack drove you crazy for some reason or another, and you think you know who is a zombie and who isn't. Scries each night, results randomly determined.

Newlyweds (Lovers): Great. The zombies had to go and ruin the honeymoon. Two people, if one dies the other dies too.

Leon S. Kennedy: Great. More zombies. Ah well, time for some shootin'. When scried looks like a survivor. May shoot anyone at night during the game. May do this twice per game AND may arm up to three players with the ability to do this once.

Mad Scientist: And they thought you were crazy for making your Bring-the-zombies-to-life-o-mat. The only problem is, the mortality rate when used on humans is 100%.... May attempt to turn an undead (including Wesker, Krauser, etc) into a human survivor each night. If accidentally used on a human, will kill the human. Revived zombies who still retain loyalty for the zombie team may be bound and gagged (i.e. may not vote or kill, counts for a survivor) at the survivors' option.

Jack Krauser: Ah. Leon is back...time for revenge. Is on the zombie team, and is a zombie for all intents and purposes. Scried as a zombie. May kill one person at night once per game, may not arm other players to do this.

Albert Wesker: (I like Resident Evil 4. Can you tell?) The special ops guy for the zombies. Is scried as a zombie. Each time the zombies kill someone, Albert has a percentage to turn them into a zombie. The percentage is equivalent to the amount of survivors (including doctor, revived zombies, mad scientists, etc) still alive. This percentage may never be better than 100% or worse than 0%. Survivors turned zombies who still retain loyalty for the survivor team may be thrown to the pit of zombies outside to act as a regular zombie (i.e, may not vote or kill, counts as a zombie).

Winning: As per other Werewolf games....but, with some modifications for the team switching.

The Survivors win if:
*All the zombies die or are revived.

The Zombies win if:
*The number of Survivors alive is equal to the number of Zombies (including Krauser, undead survivors, etc.)

Convoy
Werewolf game concept (Not a werewolf game)

Convoy: A trucker by the name of Rubber Duck started a little ole convoy with some of his best trucker buddies. The convoy grew in size and the Bears, a.k.a police, decided that they had to take it down, so some cops took on trucker identities and infiltrated the convoy.

Every night the bears sneak into one of the sleeping truckers cabins and arrest that trucker.

Every day, when the truckers stop for the night, they find the trucker most likely to be a bear and beat the living tar out of him and kick him out of the convoy.

Roles:
Rubber Duck=(Lead Mason) Rubber Duck is the trucker who started it all. He handpicked the truckers who started this convoy and he knows they aren't bears diguised as truckers.

Big Ben= (Baner) He's the biggest man in the whole convoy and the best fighter, too. Each night he stands guard over one truck. Anyone who tries messing with the trucker he's watching is in for a serious beating.

Veteran Ham Radio Operator= (Seer) This trucker has a Ham radio in the back of his cabin and each night he asks his buddies to do some research on one trucker handle and learn the history of the man behind the handle.

Rookie Ham Radio Operator= (Fool) He doesn't think his inexperience is a problem, but the people he asks to do research for him and all lazy liars who just make something up and tell it to him rather than actually research. He believes them.

Mechanic = (NEW ROLE) Each night the mechanic can fix the truck of one person who has broken down (been autolynched.) The auto-lynched trucker that has been fixed by the mechanic will have one "day" to catch up with the convoy.

Bear in the Air= (Devil)- A bear who has access to a satelite. Each night he keeps it trained on one truck and watches to see if he can learn anything about the trucker.

Smokey =(alpha-ish) This bear has been working undercover as a trucker for so long that any check on his handle comes up at legit. He scries as a trucker.

SIDEQUEST: (The sidequest is a new concept that affects the gameplay but not who wins or loses.)

Rusty Nail = (New role) A dangerously psychotic trucker. Keeps a list of all the people who have wronged him and never forgets a face. Three truckers played a nasty prank on him and made him so mad and so upset that he will see them dead. He knows that they are in this convoy, he just doesn't know where. Each night he will sneak into a cabin and kill a trucker. Once all three truckers that he is after are gone (either by arrest, beat down or he killed them) he will leave the convoy and disappear. (For either the Bears or the Truckers to receive the "Best" ending at the end of the game, they must find Rusty Nail and bring him to justice.)

Pranksters - (new role) you know that you are one of the people that Rusty Nail is after. You don't know the names of the other two, but you know their faces.

NEW RULE: Join the Convoy. Every third day, someone from outside the game may join the convoy. The person entering decides whether they would like to be a bear or a trucker.

NEW RULE: Rubber Duck picks the masons. Its not much, but its never been done before.

This is the song "Convoy." I couldn't find a non-Battlestar Galatica version of it on YouTube. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXMMQrH3Png)

Vonriel's Idea

I've been wanting to try my hand at co-narrating, in case anyone wants to have my help.

I've also been toying around with an idea for a role, whose powers only come after they die. I'm not entirely sure how to make the powers fair, though.

Spoilering the rest of the idea, as it's rather long.
I was thinking of giving them the ability to possess, but the only way I can think of to keep it from being abused would be to have it so that they could choose to possess a villager, which would let them act as a villager for the day and their vote would count twice, or they could choose to possess a wolf, and they could choose who they killed that night. I was thinking that both would have a 3 day cooldown, but be on separate cooldowns. The IC reason for this would be that everyone would know of the possession the moment it ends, and they'd be on the lookout for this happening again. No names would be given out for the wolf/villager possession, so if they did possess a wolf it couldn't be given back to the villagers. The role holder would also be allowed to participate in sharing information even after their death, but they couldn't vote unless they had possessed a villager. Before they die, they're just like a normal villager, but the seer/devil scries would be able to see him as the "ghost" (for lack of a better title).

One thing I'm not so sure on is how to handle allowing this role in the game. I can see people purposefully trying to get themselves killed to gain access to the abilities, but then the whole vengeful spirit concept (why else would he want to forcefully possess bodies?) just doesn't feel right - how can you be vengeful when you wanted to die? I'm thinking if autolynched, you don't get your abilities, similarly, if you were purposefully trying to get people to kill you in the thread, you wouldn't get them either.

Anyway, thoughts? Spins on the whole "play after death" concept?

Edit: I have a few more ideas for this role, so if anyone wants to use this and wants to get in touch with me, drop me a PM. I think it could be an interesting one, but some of it should remain secret. :smallamused:

Pwenet's Idea
Still a work in progress.

Hello folks.

*Takes a deep breath.*

For a little while I have been working on a game that I would like to run here. I have talked to a few people on this forums, and they were kind to help me polish this up, but I'm still looking for more polishing and tweaking and they suggested I post here.

And thus I turn to all of you. I'm new, so I only have a vague idea as to whom to talk to. Those I have been I thank you very much, and here I am taking your advice to post it here.

Besides polishing and tweaking, I'm also looking for a co-narrator who would be interested in running this with me once it is ready for general posting.

And so - I present to you, my game - Space Rebels (title also needs tweaking).

Feel free to either PM or IM me (contact info is in my profile, AIM and MSN are my key ones) in regards to this, even if it is to say that I should never try this again :smallyuk:

In any case, thank you for taking the time to look at it.

It is a time of unrest for the benevolent Terran Empire. Rebel insurgents have been making strikes against various Empire owned installations, demanding less taxes, more supply, whatever Rebels want.

The action takes place on a large luxury liner heading for Earth, when an innocent crewmember discovered supplies that are to be given to the REBELS at the end of their trip, supplies such as weapons, explosives, medical supplies, and a doomsday bomb to destroy the ship if the Rebels are about to be discovered. The Captain discovers this, but is attacked from behind. With his last words he fights off the attacker and tries to warn his crew, however he accidentally tells everyone on the ship.

At this point the Rebel hacker attack the ship, crippling the computer system, and sealing off sections of the ship, along with planting false leads preventing the Ship Crew from finding the location of the Captain and the Rebel Supplies.

Let the games begin!

NPC Roles
The Captain – The Captain has been kidnapped by the Rebels. If the Rebel guard is killed, he is founded and freed. However because of his injuries he is unconscious most of the time, and can only be revived one a day. During that time he will state if the current leader for the lynching is a Rebel Officer or not, which he saw while being a captive.
He has NOT been exposed to any recruited Rebels, and at the beginning of each day after he is saved he will point out who is NOT a Rebel Officer

Factions
Ship Crew – These are the crewmembers on the ship. Due to budget cuts they are understaffed, with only a few officers and to many deckhands. Everyone can vote during the day. Everyone knows who the Ship Crewmembers are thanks to their nifty uniforms; however civilians and rebels only know that they are crewmembers, not their role on the ship. Officers know who the other officers are. Officer votes count twice.
Chief Navigator (Officer) – This is the guy in charge of piloting the ship. Converting or killing him is one of the goals of the Rebels.

Chief Engineer (Officer) – This is the guy in charge of maintaining the ship systems. During the evening rounds he can choose to kill someone in their quarters by doing nasty things to various ship systems. However such attacks can be traced to him and he can only do them every other day.

Chief Medical Officer (Officer) – This is the person in charge of the health of the crew and passengers. Every night he can choose one person to take into the shielded medical bay and protect them under the guise of providing treatments. If converted they will know who the Rebels are and can start saving them instead.

Chief of Security (Officer) – This person is ex-military and during the night shift he can scout throughout the ship and gather clues on a particular person determining what affiliation they are but not their role. Nor will the target know that they have been discovered. Once he has identified a Rebel, he can spend a SEPARATE night action and kill them (meaning he has to wait till the next evening to kill them at the earliest).
Can not be converted

Rebel Traitor #1 – This person works for the Rebels, yet holds a position on the ship. Knows the location of the Supplies.

Rebel Traitor #2 – This person works for the Rebels, yet holds a position on the ship. Knows the location of the doomsday bomb.

Redshirts – These are the standard crewmembers on the ship.

Civilians – The civilians are just on the ship for a good time. During the day they vote on who is a Rebel to Lynch them. At night they do nothing unless they have a specific role.
Psychic – A psychic onboard the ship that during the evening can probe a persons mind and discover their allegiance, however they need to rest their powers for the rest of the day. If he scans the Rebel Psychic, his abilities are shut down for the day, and his role as a Psychic is revealed, but not his alignment along with the Rebel Psychic.

Lovers - A couple on the ship together. The two of them know who each other are, but not the general population. If they vote for the same person, the person receives three votes against them. If one Lover dies, the other dies as well. In addition if one is converted, the other will be as well.

Wannabe Psychic – A person who thinks he has psychic powers and will attempt to find out who is a Rebel, but has no real powers. When they “scan” someone they will get a random response.

Ex-Rebel – A former Rebel that left their ranks due to being disappointed with the cause and having a change of heart.
Immune to being converted back to being a Rebel, will expose said Rebel

Regular Civilian – Just your average civilian.

Rebels – Rebels can vote during the day along with everyone else, looking like civilians and blending in. At night the Rebels can vote to lynch either a civilian or Ship Crew target. Recruitment takes place separately. If someone is targeted for recruitment and lynching in the same evening, they will be recruited first, and if the recruitment fails, then lynched. Finally Rebels know who they are.
Rebel Leader (Officer) – This person leads the Rebels. During the evening his vote counts twice against his target, or he use 1 vote point and try to recruit another target. If his recruiting target rejects the offer, he has a 10% chance of being exposed publicly.

Rebel Mad Bomber (Officer) – This person is in charge of a bomb on the ship. If they are the only Rebel remaining, they will trigger the bomb, destroying the ship. If the bomb is discovered he goes insane and reveals himself.

Rebel Psychic (Officer) – This person can scan people minds during the night to determine their role. If he scans the Civilian Psychic, they abilities are nullified for the night and his role is exposed along with the Civilian Psychic but not his alignment.

Rebel Assassin (Officer) – If the ship supplies are discovered, this person can start killing one person every other night. Meanwhile this person can both try to recruit one person per night and vote in the evening.

Rebel Guard (Officer) - This person guards the Captain whom the Rebels haven’t killed but are holding captive in case they need him alive. If this person is killed the Captains location is revealed and he is saved. If the Rebel leader is killed he will kill the Captain that night.

Rebel Convert – These are recruited people from the ship. They do not vote during the night, but during the day to try to swing the vote in favor of the Rebels.
Victory Conditions:
Ship Crew:
Finding the bomb on the ship
Finding the Rebel Supplies on the ship
Kill the Rebel Mad Bomber

Rebels:
All Ship Crew Officers killed or converted
OR
Rebel Mad Bomber activates the bomb

Civilians:
Mad Bomber does not detonate the bomb

Actions!
Day Actions

Everyone places a vote as to who they think the Rebels are. At the end of the day the votes are tallied, and the person with the most votes will by lynched
All votes are made publicly.

If the Captain is saved:
At the beginning of each day, the Captain will identify someone on the ship as NOT being a Rebel Officer. This does not apply to any Rebel Conscripts that were recruited during the course of the game.

Night Actions

Rebel Attacks – The Rebel Officers meet secretly and decide who they wish to eliminate on the ship. This consists of them PM’ing me their target for the evening. Whoever gets the most votes during this process will die unless they are protected by the Medical Officer no matter what.

Engineer Attacks – The Ship Crew engineer can try to kill 1 person each per night by PM’ing who they want to kill via a ship accident. The attempt has a percentage chance of working against their target, and if it fails the engineer’s roles are hidden.

Recruitment – The Rebel roles that allow recruitments PM me their target who they wish to try to recruit. The target can choose to reject the recruitment offer or accept. If they accept they become a Rebel Convert.

Psychic Scans – The two Psychic character can PM me a character they wish to scan, and will get their alignment and role. However if they two psychics scan each other, their abilities will short-circuit for the day, and their status as psychics will be exposed publicly, yet not their alignment.

Wannabe Psychic Scans – The Wannabe will PM me a character they wish to try to scan, and according to their character they scanned that person and believe it fully. However their results are random.

Isaac Asimov's Robots
Still a work in progress.
Just speaking with Zar Peter, Andre Fairchilde and Pwenet I got to an interesting idea for a game:

Isaac Asimov's Robots!!

A society with androids, all programmed with the Three Laws within their positronic brain. But there are some smarter than others... Those who interpret the Laws as they see them fit better...

Well, that's all I have thought of so far. I'd love to make a game around that, but I need help to make it sound original, and not just another WW simple game.
If anyone is interested and would like to help me, you're all welcome.

Of course, it wouldn't be starting soon, there are too many games and the idea is just starting to form in my head. What about mid November?

EDIT: Alternatively, I'm thinking of a Death Note one. That one needs polishing, too, but the Otaku community might be interested... If someone wants to help, you're welcome as well.

Blade Runner
I've been working on a new werewolf variant, based on Blade Runner. Opinions/suggestions are highly appreciated.

The year is 2019. Technology has advanced to such a level that mankind is capable of producing robots that appear similar to humans. Starting with the Nexus-6 series, these androids are also capable of having – what appears to be – human emotions.
Produced by the Tyrell corporation, these ‘replicants’ are often used for laborious tasks on off-world colonies. They are banned from planet earth under penalty of death. In order to find and dispose of any replicant coming to earth, a special police unit was formed: the Blade Runners.

Rumor has it that four replicants have escaped the clutches of their masters and have fled to earth, more specifically, to the city of Los Angeles. They seek vengeance against both the Tyrell corporation (who created them) and the Blade Runners (who have orders to shoot them on sight).
Panic is spreading amongst the population, and general mistrust has become a necessity for survival. As the body count piles up, a lot of people feel they need to take matters into their own hands...

---

At the beginning of the game, every player will receive a random role (save for Leon, Pris and Zhora, who are chosen by the Alpha).
Every player will also be classified as human, replicant (Nexus-6) or replicant (Nexus-5).

Nexus-6 replicants count as werewolves in this game.
Nexus-5 replicants are older models whom are led to believe they are human. They use civilian win conditions (unless they’re blade runners), but are the only type of characters that can be recruited by Leon.

Nexus-6 Replicants
Win condition: Kill all Blade Runners and everyone working for the Tyrell corporation. (recruiting replicant members of either of these factions works as well).

Roy Batty – Alpha/Devil. At the start of the game, Roy chooses three other players. These will be the other Nexus-6 replicants. Their exact roles (Leon, Pris, Zhora) will be randomized.
Every night, Roy can secretly follow a character to find out their status (human or replicant) and their role (if any).

Leon – Recruiter. Every three nights, Leon can attempt to convince a person to join the replicant cause. This only works if the person targeted with this ability is a replicant.
The replicant targeted has the option of refusal.
If the person targeted is not a replicant, the attempt automatically fails but Leon will not be notified whether his target refused or whether his target is simply not a replicant. In any event, unless the target is a replicant and accepts to join the Nexus-6 replicants, they will not know who approached them with the offer.

Warning: Only a handful of humans are actually replicants. Leon must choose his targets carefully.
Important: Since Leon is a fairly violent man, he will take someone down when killed by a lynching (the last person who voted for him).

Pris – Role-blocker. Every night, Pris can use her charms to prevent someone from taking any nightly activities.

Zhora – Illusionist. As an assassin, Zhora is skilled in covering tracks, tampering with Voight-Kampff records or simply finding flaws in the VK test. Every night, she can fool Sebastian or Deckard by making someone appear as something different.

Blade Runners
Win condition: Eliminate all Nexus-6 replicants, and everyone recruited by them.

Rick Deckard – Vigilante. Every night, Deckard can use one of the following two abilities:
- Voigt-Kampff empathy test:
Every night, Deckard can find out whether someone is a replicant or not. Deckard can distinguish Nexus-5 models from Nexus-6 models. Due to his experience with replicants, Deckard can find out whether a Nexus-5 model has become aware of his status and is in league with the Nexus-6 replicants.

- Retire:
Deckard can forego his VK ability to track down a suspected replicant and kill them. Deckard can use this ability up to five times in the game.
Deckard may choose to retire Nexus-5 replicants at his own discretion, though he isn’t required to do so, unless they have been recruited by Leon.

Gaff - Night baner. Though he lacks the stamina of Deckard, Gaff has been retiring replicants for years. Every night, he can protect someone from being killed by the replicants. Gaff will not interfere with another blade runner, so he cannot protect someone from being retired.

Bryant – Police chief. Bryant can pull a few political strings to have his words weigh more in any lynching. Bryant’s vote counts as two.

Tyrell Corporation
Win condition: Same as civilians (see below).

Tyrell – Emperor. Since Tyrell is a very powerful man, his vote counts as three.

J.F. Sebastian – Seer. Despite being a recluse, Sebastian has a vast knowledge of everyone who’s important in Los Angeles 2019. Since he works at Tyrell Corporation, he can also identify replicants, as well as their model. He will not know if a Nexus-5 model is working with the Nexus-6 replicants.

Chew – Fool. Chew will be told he is Sebastian, though his scry results are randomized (selected from a pool of all living roles). When he scries Sebastian, he will see the fool, and vice versa.

Rachael –Protegé. As long as Tyrell is still alive, Rachael cannot be lynched.
Note: Rachael is the only civilian who is a confirmed replicant (model: Nexus-5). Unless she is recruited by Leon, she uses civilian win conditions.

Civilians
Win condition: Survive until the end of the game.

Bounty Hunters (masons) – This group is a mixture of ex-blade runners and guns-for-hire. They have been tracking down the Nexus-6 replicants for quite some time.
Although they have been stripped off their badges and weapons, they still intend to free Los Angeles of the Nexus-6 models and anyone who is in league with them.

Hardin Industries Hitman – Assassin/Feuder. Hired by Hardin Industries, a rival company of the Tyrell corporation, the hitman must eliminate Tyrell. He has strict orders to make it look like an accident (i.e. lynched by the mob, retired by Deckard, or killed by the replicants).

Important: You only win if you are alive at the end of the game and Tyrell is not.

Police officer – Day baner. Until the entire replicant conflict is resolved, the police officer is charged with breaking up mobs, thus granting people lynch immunity for the following day.

The following two items are distributed randomly.
- Spinner: Whether legally acquired or not, you’re the proud owner of a spinner hovercar. Whenever you are attacked by replicants, you will survive. Whenever you are about to be lynched, you will survive (passive item, 1 use/person; 3 use max)
- ESPER: By analyzing photos and other visual records, you can find out what someone was doing during the previous night. You will receive one of the following results: kill, protect, investigate (scry), other or nothing.
If multiple results are possible (e.g. Roy, who both scries and kills at night), both will be displayed.
Usable once every three nights. (active item, unlimited uses/person, will be destroyed by the time the second owner is killed)

If a person carrying an item is killed, the item will be distributed randomly amongst the remaining players.

If there are any particular posts from the previous thread, such as the first one, for example, which you would like merged with this one, just let me know and I can do so. And thanks Shadow. :smallsmile:Thanks hun, but I think I'm coming along nicely here.
I can do all the grunt work.
I think that's the main reason no one else wanted to do this.

Attention All Werewolves:
If there's anything you'd like added to this thread, just let me know.
If there's a game you'd like to run, just let me know.
If you'd like to put a bid in for a start date, just....

....You get the idea.

Anyway, if anyone has a decent idea for how I should arrange the start dates, let's hear it.
I could go randomly from among the games not currently underway, I could try to decipher the original idea from the original spreadsheet (but that's going to be pretty tough at this point....), or I could do something else entirely.

And my reward for taking this on myself will be to put Vampire near the top of the list and finally get that game underway sometime in the near future (with Helgy's permission/help, of course).

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Feedback?
Let's have it!

Sweet. Could you add me to the Following Notifies: Pirates, Mafia, Revolution, and Rockstar?
Also, I'm going to be greedy and hold onto the TARDIS games' main narrarator role for now. Co-Narrarators welcome, but I'm pulling a Pirates and am not going to hand out the Narration job untill at LEAST TARDIS V. For simplicity, You can reduce "Journies on the TARDIS" to "TARDIS"

Anyway, a list of roles would be nice: A bunch have been added, Such as the Double Point and the Immunized of TARDIS, or the Banker of YoW, and many others, like the Skill Monkey of Revolution.

Heres a game Idea: 160 Players, 1/3 of which are wolves. Anybody up for that?

Wine and a movie was nice.

OK, according to the original schedule, or at least what's listed in the spreadsheet, Pirates IV was supossed to start a few days ago. Llama, Duck, Wolf is scheduled to begin in 2 days. With Aliens (which is still in progress) starting after that.
I'm going to assume that with all of the pre-emptive games that were started randomly, that both of those are on a bit of a hiatus until some more free time opens up.
Would that be correct?

So I guess that means that whoever or whatever can be next. After WW IX, of course.

I would personally recommend that we wait.... maybe.... two weeks after Hogwarts gets underway before really starting another, and then do one or two a week until we get back on schedule.

The problem with all the games starting at the same time is that means they will all be ending in a similar fashion, which will just start the problem all over again.

Thoughts?

Zeb The Troll
2007-09-07, 03:39 AM
I don't think we need to wait that long. I think as long as we start them on a paced schedule right now, things will work themselves out soon enough. Enough players have been eliminated from the 8 current games to justify two new games recruiting next week if there are two that want to be lined up. I would, however, recommend totally trashing the existing timeline because people stopped following/failed to follow it anyway, leastwise all these new incarnations.

As a final thought on a tangent, if no one objects, I'd like to hang on to Rebellion for a bit too. I feel it still has some tweaking that needs to be done before I'd feel good handing it off to someone. And please add me to the list of willing conarrators.

I'm trying to gear myself up to start up the next WW Classic, but I think I'm going to have to wait until Ye Olde West calms down a bit. With all the searching and auctioning and purchases and money transfers it's pretty hectic (but also a total blast).

Let me check with Atreyu on Llama Llama Duck.

As for future YOWs, I'm going to hold to a narrator spot for that one. Raldor I certainly welcome you staying with me if you like. I do know that with the new items and rules we've added, we are definitely going to add a 3rd person to that mix. It's a lot to keep track of! (I may just put the offer out there now to bring a 3rd person in for this one. :smalltongue: )

And Shadow - you're a pimp! The leg work and additions to this thread are AMAZING! You are either a glutten for punishment or a robot, I'm not sure which. Kudos to you!

Shadow
2007-09-07, 10:37 PM
Why would you try to assign roles before the Alpha had chosen their team?
You'd wait until the Alpha had chosen before deciding any other roles by necessity, wouldn't you?

I think it wouldn be easier to just remove the "wolf" roles (and their players) as choices and assign the roles remaining to the players remaining?

I haven't used his sheet yet, but that seems the most efficient to me.

Alarra
2007-09-07, 11:17 PM
Yes, that's the most efficient way to do it, however, that then makes it difficult to import into a spreadsheet to actually track the game, and also doesn't account for the idea that a person could have an additional role besides 'wolf', such as the lovers, customarily.

Shadow
2007-09-07, 11:21 PM
But, unless I'm mistaken, his sheet only assigns one role per player, doesn't it?
So it would never assign a lover role to a wolf.
You'd have to do it twice, the second time for possible secondary roles.
IE: lovers, fueders, etc.
At least that's the way that I read it. That's the way it is.
When the players have been copied into place, the position randomizer will activate automatically. This randomizer assigns roles to each player using a simple card-shuffling algorithm, thus ensuring that every role to be assigned will be assigned, and that each player will have exactly one role.

www.wolvesitp.com is mostly ready to roll!

Anyone may create an account and submit new games for the schedule, but a moderator (known as devils) will need to come along and publish it to the schedule.

If you would like to be 'devil' let me know by PM here. I'll eventually have some sort of contact form enabled there.

I've recovered from the weeks of doom and am good to go whenever Goof is. I think we should start registration on the day that WWIX is set to begin and give them a week, then ease into Llama, Llama Duck in the next week sometime, once WW has settled in.

Or would you rather wait till YOW is done, Goof? YOW seems like quite a large project.

It's Llama, Llama, Duck. Because the roles make almost as much sense as the song.

Sure, we could call it Llama Duck Wolf, but what fun is that? :smallwink:

And schedule, I'm open to any start time, so before Vampire, after Vampire, whatever. Though I think we may defer to after Vampire - simply to get our 3rd narrator in the game and caught up with everything we'll have going on. Actually, yeah - we will wait until Vampire is started.

I'm curious with the schedule on raldor's site, whether they're put on the schedule by game start date, or recruitment start date. Because by my calculations....WW IX is put on game start date, and Llama, llama, duck is put on recruitment start date. Either way is fine....I just think we need to be consistent and specify.

Zeb The Troll
2007-09-10, 05:10 PM
Raldor has updated the site to be specific about what phase the game is currently in. If you look at the bottom of a calendar entry you'll see that status. So far there's Tentative (LLama, LLama, Duck), Recruiting (WW IX), and In Progress (YOW2).

I have linked both this thread and wolvesitp in my signature for handy reference and a little wider dissemination. Though I agree that maybe we should post games by the date that they plan on starting recruitment and then just change the phase as it progresses.

The Valiant Turtle
2007-09-10, 08:13 PM
My current approach is trying to call attention to the games that are currently recruiting (which might take some time), but if you want to just list them by recruiting date it's fine with me.

I wasn't actually certain when Llama, Llama, duck was doing anything, so I just put it on at a date on the first page of the thread and put it as tentative.

I just had an idea for a special role. I don't know where to post it but it seems like it would go here.

Non-Plot essential assistant

One villager is chosen at random to have a Non-Plot essential assistant. For now we'll call him Indurain. Another player is chosen to be the Non-Plot essential assistant we'll call him Shadow for now.

If Indurain is attacked during the night Shadow takes the attack for him and dies.
Indurain gets 1 scry to be used to try and find the identity of those responsible for Shadow's murder.

If Indurain is going to be lynched Shadow takes the blame instead and dies.
Indurain (in concordance with every adventure movie ever made) must now avenge Shadow and gets 1 night kill.

Both Indurain and Shadow are villagers. Indurain and Shadow do know about each other at the beggining of the game.

That's pretty good!

I'm considering a WW game based on Espionage - kind of a cross between Mafia and Alien. Spy Agency vs. Big Bad Evil Organization (BBEO until a better name is thought of...)

More Bourne than James Bond (except Casino Royal), more Dr. Evil than Dr. No.

Ding! Lightbulb!

I'm assuming that in Vampire Vampires replace Wolves, so what about a Vamps vs Wolves game? Of course, you still have the townsfolk trying to lynch the right person, but that would be fun and classic.

Gameplay would be kinda Revo (or TARDIS) lite, but I think you might want to boost the Villagers to make up for it.

Also an idea that has been bouncing around in my head for a while is that the baner should be encouraged to protect others. How to do this is to give the baner a natural chance to dodge wolf attacks when he isn't protecting himself. For the Vamps vs Wolves model, this makes sense if the the baner is a "hunter" or "slayer." If you make sure you can't get killed, you won't, but if you're focused on someone else, then you can still save your butt on occasion.

Roles ideas:
Baner-Young Hunter (can fight, but lacks experience)
Seer-Old Hunter (can tell who's who, yet is weak and can't fight)
Fool-Father [Insert funny name here] (lived through some Vampire and Wolf attacks, but his head is full of religious bunk (clarification: not all religion is bunk, just the stuff this guy believes))
Wolf Alpha stays the same
Vamp Alpha-Dracula
Wolf Devil- Could stay the same, otherwise no ideas.
Vamp Devil-Succubus (Can seduce someone into revealing their role)
Mason-Knights (shamelessly stolen from a old Empire game)

Thoughts?

I came up with a new set of roles! and ideas!

First thing: There's a list of who's alive and who's dead on day 1 of the game beginning. Afterward, Sorry, no list of people for you. You do get roles on death though.

The roles:
The foolish baner: At the beginning of the game, you are told that you are the baner. Sadly, your pick of person matter naught. Scries as baner, always.

The alien: Blatantly stolen from aliens 2. Does anything a cult does, but gets a random power every night. Think skill monkey from Revo 4.

The arranged couple: These two know each others roles, as though the lovers, but do not get killed when the other dies.

The skill monkey: It’s even better than the Revo 4 version!

The Gold hoarder: You get 3 gold pieces at the begining of the game, and can spend them at places. Kinda like pirates 3. Except without shadow *grumble*

My car was stolen! This person may point, but his vote is worth 0.

Shadow, as in the role, non-mafia version: If shadow is playing the game, and he gets killed, you may enact revenge on one of his killers.

The fuzzy white cat: You are a fuzzy white cat, and can hide in someones house every night, effectively become unknown lovers.

Unknown Lovers: You like each other, but are afraid of being rejected. Do not know each other at all. Works otherwise as lovers.

Necromancer: You can resurrect one person involved in the game being played, who will be risen with an unknown role.

The one ring to rule them all…: You switch places with another person. They become the ring, and you gain their role. Works only at night.

Original role alterizations

Lovers: You believe you are the arranged couple.

Fool: Instead of you picking your person, you get someone else at randoms role. If you know you are the fool, you may switch with one other person once, as per the ring.

May need to run WW XIII with these..

Switching roles is a bad idea.

Say that player A decides to switch with player B.
Player B was a wolf.
Player A is now the wolf and player B is now the ring (or fool).
Player B decides to switch with player C.
Player C was a mason.
Player B is now the mason and player C has become the ring (or fool).

Player B started as a wolf, and has now become a mason.

Game Over.

Recruitment works because you're bringing bad guys into the organization.
Once in, you're in for the game.

There should never be a way to "become" a good guy.

Good Morning,

I was thinking of playing a game, and decided to play some Dead Rising on by 360. Before I went to go play, I was checking my games, and thought "Hmm, what would a game with ZOMBIES, around Halloween be like"? I started typing, and thus I have created the following.

I am looking for feedback, comments, insults, co-narrator, etc for what I have in the spoilers. Depending on the popularity, I may even decide to add a few other roles.

But some key notes. At most this game will last 1 month, that's it. It may end earlier than that depending on what happens. In addition everyone gets a second chance at life in the game, as a zombie!

In any case, here is my Halloween Zombies Game!

It is the month of October, best known for the holiday of Halloween. A time where people tell ghost stories, trying to scare each other. Yet these stories are based in myth, fantasy, for they are not real.

On October 1st, reports trickled in out a flu outbreak across the United States. Despite the early start to the flu season, most people didn’t worry. Then people started to die from the outbreak, again overlooked by the media.

Then the dead rose. The media screamed in terror one word.

ZOMBIES!!!

The action takes place within a mall. You are part of a group of civilians that have managed to barricade yourselves within the mall, and aim to survive. While many radio stations have been taken off the air, you occasionally catch military chatter, and chatter from other civilians that indicate that humanity is still out there, and is trying to beat this thing. Yet the entire town that the mall is in is surrounded by the zombies, so many that it would be suicide to try to get out.

In addition to being trapped, several of you start off as wounded. Some of you may even be infected with the beginnings of the zombie virus that will eventually over the course of several days transform you into a zombie!

Power Role – These people’s roles are known to everyone at the start of the game. As such they are immune to recruitment, nor can they be attacked by the zombies until certain in-game conditions are met.
Minor Role – These people have a minor role that is hidden from everyone. As such they are vulnerable to recruitments, attacks and the like.

Humanity
Civilians – The average Joe, trapped in the mall
Day Actions – Vote on who they think is a cultist or infected with the zombie virus. The person they choose will then be thrown out of the protected areas for the zombies to take care of.
Lovers (Minor Role) – These two people are madly in love. If one of them dies or is taken by the zombies, the other will rush to try to save them, dying as well but not before taking out one of the attackers.
Day Actions – If they vote for the same person, their vote counts double.
Doctor (Power Role) – A Doctor who was trapped in the mall while performing a blood drive. One of the safe zones is the blood drive center, which he has converted into a triage center.
Day Actions – Can “treat” one person, attempting to cure them. The cure will vary depending on the state of their infection, but in order to perform all the tests, it will take up most of the entire day, even if the person was uninfected.
Nurse (Power Role) – A Nurse who was helping the doctor with the blood drive, this person aids the doctor. In the event of the death or conversion of the doctor, she takes over his role.
Day Actions – Can perform first aid on several people of their choice, curing their basic injuries.
Night Actions – While wandering the barricades helping those that need it, this person can choose to concentrate on one person and determine what their role it.
Security Guard (Power Role) – You average security guard, this one happens to be an ex-police officer, with decent training and experience. As such they can perform certain actions.
Day Actions – Can protect a person from being lynched by standing up for them during the day. The person with the next highest number of votes will then by lynched.
Night Actions – Can choose to protect someone from any negative actions during the night. They again send a PM to the narrators.
Power-Walkers from the Retirement Center (Masons) – These people came to the mall to do some power-walking when the zombie outbreak struck. Now they are trapped in the mall, however they all trust and know who they all are. Their goal is to try to survive as best as possible to tell their grandkids of their adventure!

Cultists – The zombie outbreak has been feared by almost all. And yet there are some that take it as a sign that things are changing, that the zombies are the next form of human evolution, the next step. And thus their goal is to become one with the zombies, either through sacrifice and getting the survivors infected.
The Leader – The leader of the cultists. A charismatic person, who believes that the zombies are a sign of things to come, and will force his view onto everyone.
Night Actions – During the chaos of the battle to keep the barricades up, he takes aside one person and subjects them to drugs and conditioning to turn them into an initiate. However this can only be done to a Civilian without a role. If he tries to take a civilian with a power role, that civilian will brush them off without telling what role they are because they are too busy.
Mad Scientist – This person understands how the zombies are created, and how they work. Serving the cultists, he can at night choose to try to infect someone with the zombie virus.
Day Actions – There are people who work against the cult. As such during the day, the Mad Scientist can use a scent marker to have all the zombies the next night attack that person. However those with Power Roles will be immune to this action, and there is a chance this may not work.
Night Actions – Every night this person collects enough of the zombie virus in order to infect one person of their choice.
Initiates
Day Actions – Do whatever it takes to protect the Leader and the Mad Scientist. If the leader is about to be lynched, one of them will take his place

Zombies – The living dead, these zombies are docile and slow at day, though they still feed. However at night, they become fast, deadly, and almost smart. Night is when they do their attacks.
Zombies – These are the living dead. During the day, they prefer to stand around, moaning and looking like a standing corpse. At night, their eyes turn a red color, and they go on the hunt for food, which happens to be anything with meat on it.
Day Actions – Moan, groan, look like a corpse. Basically nothing.
Night Actions – Each zombie posts, saying that they attack a player number. Each player number can be attacked by only one zombie. The player numbers correspond to the remaining non-zombie players (civilians AND cultists), however they are randomly assigned each night.

Victory Conditions
Civilians – Living until the end of the game (November 1st).
Bonus: Removing all cultists from the game!
Cultists – Having all the civilians either transformed into zombies or converted into cultists before November 1st.
Zombies – Everyone moans and groans like a zombie before November 1st.

Health and Power Levels – Everyone will be assigned a power level by me via a random number. The power level determines how tough you are, and are only used during the night when the zombies invade. Health is taken away from the attacking power levels from both parties. When a zombie health goes to zero, they are killed, for good, and will not come back, ever. When a human’s health turns to zero, they are partially eaten and return as a zombie.

Supplies – You are in a mall, trapped in a section of it. Be creative with what you decide to use as weapons, armor, and other fun stuff, for this will affect your health and power levels.

Infected – When you are attacked by a zombie, you will be bitten, scratched, and there is a chance of you being infected with whatever makes the zombies into zombies. This is a random chance, and you will not find out unless the Doctor decides to perform tests on you. As such, up until the moment you die, there is nothing visibly wrong with you. If you are killed while being a zombie, you rise as a zombie.
Stage 1 – 25% drop in your overall health – 1 Day After Infection - Curable by the Doctor
Stage 2 – 50% drop in your overall health – 2 Days After Infection - Curable by the Doctor
Stage 3 – 75% drop in your overall health – 3 Days After Infection – Detectable but not curable by the Doctor.
Stage 4 – You are dead and rise as a zombie.

I like it, and would definitely play. The gradual zombification thing is new and interesting, and a few of the roles sound quite good! However, I don't get the night actions for the zombies, I think maybe there's a word missed out there or something.

But I think this would be a great addition to the WW style games!

Sorry about that - Typo. It has been fixed.

Basically the Zombies during the night pick a number. The number range is the total remaining non-zombie players, with the numbers being randomly assigned each night. As such zombies have no clue who they are attacking until I post.

Ah, makes perfect sense now. Yep this definitely sounds good, different enough from the other WW variants to be it's own game, with some good ideas thrown in, I'd definitely be in!

This isn't the game thread.
This thread is simply devoted to coordinating and maintaing the games, as there are quite a few different versions.

If you check out the first page, you'll see pretty much anything you want to find.
Rules, games that are currently running, games that are currently recruiting, optional rules, links to old games, etc.

i want to know how i actualy play this stuff how do you dicide if you are a wolf or not, are you a wolf in all your games if you are in one, or is it a game by game basis You would first sign up for a game. The games can be found under Structured Games or you can find links in the first few posts of this thread.
As to your role: The narrators will assign roles after registration closes. Every time you play you will potentially get a different role.

With the many different games, each has it's own unique set of rules and roles for players. So I can't really answer that more specifically here. The basic roles are listed in the first post under the "Original Rules By 77" portion.

I'll go and find you a quick link that will explain the basic game play
*goes to find link*

Basic Game-Play Overview:

The game is played in turns that consist of two different phases.
This is the phase of the game where the vampires would tell the narrators who they would like to kill.

After time's up, the narrators will post the opening of the following Day Scene and it starts all over again.
This continues until either A) all of the Wolves are destroyed by the Villagers -or- B) the Wolvess reduce the total number of non-wolf players to equal their own.

Does that help answer your questions?
If you have any more questions regarding anything on this thread, ask away.

I'd totally play. Just remind me when you put up the sign up thread!

detrevnisisiht,

The best way to get a handle on the Werewolf style games is to realize they are basically just like the party game known most commonly as Mafia or Werewolf. Wikipedia has a good article here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_Game) The main difference obviously being that it is played very slowly online. Around here almost every game has different rules, except for Werewolf Classic, which I plan on starting up here very shortly. See the link in my sig for games currently underway and about to start. If you want to dive right into one the Vampire game is now recruiting.

I'll give you fair warning, these games can be addictive!

Hey, just wanted to give you an update. The game [Alien Invasion II] has just been completed with the town winning. The standings are now town 2- aliens 0. As for A.I. III, I'm going to put the brainstorm/discussion thread up here later today as I want some ideas on how to best run things with the theme I'm going with (the movie Alien(s)).

Right, 'cuz I'm bored, I made a WW Variant, based on... V for Vendetta.

Remember, remember the Fifth of November
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot
I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.

Like the graphic novel series, the game is set in a dystopian re-imagining of the United Kingdom from the 80s to the 90s. A totalitarian government, ruled by the Norsefire Party is in complete control of the nation, regulating all behavior, denying its people the freedom they deserve. No one dares challenge the Party... except for a nameless anarchist called "V".

The Roles

Anarchy

There are only two people in this group.

V: No one knows exactly who V is. An anarchist who seeks to bring down the existing government, V will do anything to bring freedom to its people, even to kill. This role is similar to the Shadow from Mafia 3 and 5, in the sense that he/she has the ability to scry AND kill, but this is tweaked a bit. V may scry once per night, and every three nights, V may blow up a building belonging to one of the Norsefire groups.

Evey Hammond: V's accomplice in his campaign of anarchy, Evey knows who V is disguised as(in other words, knows which player is V), and will obtain the role of V if he/she dies.

_____

Norsefire

The Norsefire Party is divided into several groups, the Nose, the Finger, the Eye, the Ear and the Mouth.

The Nose
The Nose is the common term for the police. Every night, they may vote on who they will protect.

The Finger
The Finger is the secret police. Every night, they may vote on who they will kill.

The Eye
The Eye is the department in charge of video surveillance. Every night, they may vote on who they will investigate.

The Ear
The Ear is the department in charge of audio surveillance. Every night, they may listen in on the streets, and maybe find out what V is planning.

The Mouth
The Mouth is the department in charge of spreading propaganda. Every day, they may vote on who they should increase the vote count of by 3.

_____

Civilians

The oppressed people whom the Anarchists are fighting for. They want to fight against the Norsefire Party to win their freedom back.

_____

Win Conditions

The Anarchists win if:
-All Norsefire departments are destroyed
-V or Evey survives to the end

The Norsefire Party wins if:
-The Anarchists are eliminated
-The numbers of Norsefire to Civilians are equal

The Civilians win if:
-They survive
-The Anarchists win

NOTE: In the case of the Norsefire Party, they know who else is in their respective department, but not anyone else. In other words, Paranoia.

Any comments? Suggestions are wholeheartedly welcome. I'm new to this whole Variant-constructing thing.

Idea for a new game:

OK, I've been pondering for a while about a new game, and even though it isn't strictly a Werewolf type game, it bears some similarities, and I'd like other people's input.

Introducing:

Ultimate King of the Hill

Each player starts at the bottom of the hill, which takes 10 steps to reach the top of. Each round every player takes 1 step up the hill, and in addition, can choose to help or hinder another player. If they help another player, that selected player moves an additional step up the hill. If they hinder the player, that selected player moves one step down the hill. The first person to make it to the top of the hill wins!

Sounds relatively simple, yes? But oh wait, there's random events:

Each round, 20% of the players (randomly selected, i.e., if there are 20 players in the game, each round 4 of those players are selected at random) are affected by a random event.

The events:
Trip - Player falls down one step.
Mud - Player cannot move up or down this turn.
Burst of Energy - Player moves one additional step up.
Barrel Roll - Player moves back to step 1.

So over all a pretty simple game with some random events and all of the normal back stabbing and fibbing and plotting of the Ultimate-style games.

Thoughts?

Perhaps it would be better if you had some way of removing compettitors. Perhaps if a person was moved back by 3-5 steps they would fall off of the hill?

As an aside, I've thought for a while that it would be nice to have a "Non-WW Central" thread for discussing and announcing structured games that aren't WW games. Unfortunately, I'm too busy to keep such a thread up to date or I would have tried starting it by now.

Let me know.

The Ear is the one I really had a problem with, I honestly can't really figure out what to do with it, unless...

The Ear
The Ear is the department in charge of audio surveillance. Every three nights, the night when V attacks, the Ear may listen in on one department to determine whether V is attacking that one next. If it is, the Ear warns that department, and they take preventive measures to thwart the plot.

But I'm very curious as to what those mechanics are, can you enlighten me on them please?

Oh yes, a few more things about the V for Vendetta Variant.

On the Norsefire Groups
Each of the groups can be destroyed by doing one of the following:

Lynching all members of that group
Destroying that group's building

Oh, yes. V cannot just bomb a building. He/she must ascertain the identity of at least one member of that particular group before the bombing begins.

Traveling_Angel
2007-09-22, 05:41 PM
What do you mean, ascertain? Obviously he could scry, but could he guess?

Akaziel
2007-09-22, 09:46 PM
He could guess, but he'd just end up killing one random person. Or something. As mentioned, this needs work.

pingcode20
2007-09-24, 05:05 AM
Perhaps V must nominate the individual in question, and correctly identify the affilitation?

However, if V guesses/nominates wrong, then the result is simply as if the Ear had blocked the attempt - V attempts to bomb the building, but the explosive is discovered and disarmed before it goes off.

So say Shadow is V (He's probably our closest analogue anyway) and he decides to try and bomb the Finger.

However, not knowing any Finger members, Shadow decides to nominate Alarra, because everyone scries Alarra. So he sends in that Alarra is the individual whose identity he knows, and the bomb order against the Finger.

However, Alarra is actually a member of the Nose! As Alarra was incorrectly nominated, the attempt fails, however this is not immediately shown.

Instead, in the morning there's a short little interlude where some member of the Finger opens the door to find a roll of dynamite attacked to a timer, and simply kicks it away, where it blows up some poor guy's store.

Akaziel
2007-09-24, 07:17 AM
Haha, sweet. That'll definitely work. Thanks for the suggestion, Pingcode.

Oh yes, some more roles.

Adam James Susan

The leader of the Norsefire Party, Susan has full control over every Department. Should any department fall, Susan gains the abilities of that department. He scries as a Civilian and his vote counts as 3. His identity is known to each department head and no one else.

Peter Creedy

One of Susan's subordinates, Creedy leads the Finger. If Susan should fall, Creedy gains his abilities. He scries as Norsefire and his vote counts as 2.

Conrad Heyer

Heyer is the head of the Eye. He scries as Norsefire and his vote counts as 2.

Brian Etheridge

Etheridge is the head of the Ear. He scries as Norsefire and his vote counts as 2.

Chief Inspector Eric Finch

Finch is the head of the Nose. Each night after V's first attack, Finch may follow someone to determine if he/she is actually V. He scries as Norsefire and his vote counts as 2.

Roger Dascombe

Dascombe is the head of the Mouth. He scries as Norsefire and his vote counts as 2.

More specs on the V role:

-Scries as a Civilian
-His death is NOT revealed
-Picks his Evey

That's about all I have for today.

Hi all,

After my first structured game went off with relatively few outright disasters I started to think about my next project. I've really started to get into these WW style games, and I thought it would be good to run one, but I've had trouble thinking of a theme...

And then it came to me...

Call of Cthulhu!

What I'm starting to construct is a story game based on H P Lovecrafts "At the Mountains of Madness" story, based in the Artic at a research site. The roles would be divided between cultists, elder things and researchers, and the particular special rules would involve the harsh Artic climate and the research planes, which could be used to fly players to a different location, where they would be immune to attacks from cultists unless there was one among them! I also have the idea that the elder things would win by reviving a great Old one rather than the traditional victory method.

As you can tell this is all rather vague at the minute, but I wanted to get a little feedback on what people thought of the idea before I satart to put something solid together.

Would anybody have any interest in this, and would anybody suggest anything in particular to include?

Cheers

Banjo

I'm currently working on a WW project. It's not quite ready to see the light yet, though, (and I'm not quite ready for it either, since I'm in about 4 other games and I don't think I could take it.)

Still, when is the next empty week? I'd like to have a date to plan for.Well the next two weeks or so are completely booked up with WWC, Mafia, Zombies and LLama Llama Duck.
I only actually have an actual start date for Zombies.
The others haven't given an exact date that I know of.

But that's the next two weeks (at least) full right there.

I'm thinking that the earliest (and I mean the absolute earliest) that you'll be able to get a decent player base that won't be full of autolynches would be after October 10th or so.

Personally, I still think that there will be a large number of autos and/or games not recieving the attention that they deserve if we start two a week, but that's just me.

If you'd like less autolynches in your game, or you'd like players to actually devote time to post well IC, I'd suggest waiting longer.
But that's just my opinion.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I think I'll wait until October twenty-something. It also gives me more time to plan the game well. And to finish up the ones I'm already in.

EDIT: A question on the victory conditions of Masons. Do all the Masons have to survive in order to win? Or just a certain number?

If I manage to get these details sorted out, I'll start recruiting October 22. That week is free, right? The game's title is Alchemists.

In a standard game, Masons use the same victory condition as villagers - ie kill the wolves. They just start with a little more knowledge than regular villagers.

@^: I'd give you my opinion, but I'm not quite experienced enough. It looks interesting, though.

Is it common/necessary for there to be items involved in a WW game? How often do they have items?

@V: Thank goodness......... I didn't want to work on them.

Vonriel

It's not common or necessary. I think it's something that emerged with Pirates 3, though I could be wrong. Those were one-use, though; I think these multiple use ones came into being with WWIX.

I'm not a huge fan of items, personally, but that's because I've never actually managed to be able to use them. Ever. :smallsigh:

Items originate from WWIV with the masons. IIRC, they were to save them from wolf attacks at the cost of turning them into a wolf of one of the packs.

Oh.......... that sounds useful........ I gotta take that into account.

The one I'm working on, Alchemists, is actually, LOOSELY based on the FMA universe, which makes me wonder how many people are actually willing to play it, but I'm still looking forward to going through with it.

I'll try to post the rules as soon as I clean them up. I'm almost done with them. But just to be clear with the procedure:
It IS fine to start recruiting on October 22, right? I've checked, posted and PM'd to make sure people are fine with it, but triple-checking never hurt anyone.

Please take a look at wolvesitp.com (linked in my sig) and submit your schedule there. At this point that timeframe looks fine, it will just help everyone keep track of who is planning on doing what when.

Anything you'd like to see on here, just let me know.

Please take me off the list as narrator for Infiltration as I don't have time to be a narrator at the moment. If anyone else would like to run that game they are welcome to it as far as I'm concerned. The no night time mechanic seemed to work well, but the setting barely worked and I would suggest that future narrators change that aspect of the game.

If anyone would like to take over my role as co-narrator of Werewolf Classic V I am going to step back. I probably can do it if nobody wants it, but my life has suddenly become extremely hectic and it would probably not be the wisest thing for me to do.

A word to intend total chaos.

As I said before: I wish to hold a full 160 Player WW Game. Naturaly, I plan on doing this sometime after TARDIS V (Which will be held sometime in march, if everything goes to plan), probably in May. Werewolf Intense: The Playground is based off a hypothetical incident where a 4-Chan raid would take place. The Normal roles will be named after Moderators: Roland St. Jude, the Gunslinger ITP, will be the Day Baner, for example, while The Giant will be the Emperor. New roles with other abilities will take the form of powerful forumites: Vorpal Tribble, for example, can Stat up a forumite to ascertain their identity every other night. Even less powerful roles (The Third Tier) are Awards: Belkar ITP can use Craft Disturbing Mental Image once every 3 nights to cause somebody to leave the forums permanently. Red Mage ITP Can Discern the identity by looking at their character sheet once every three days. The Fourth group is single shot abilities: Joosbawx may call upon the Shadow of Mafia to dispense justice, but only once. The Fith group is forumites, who are villagers.

To keep the game paced, each player gets to point three times, at three different people. Those with the top three amount of votes are removed. Also, the WWs get two devils to speed up the scrying, but still only get one kill.

WHAT I NEED: I am in need of Co-Narrarators of this. You dont need to commit, but around the summer of 2008 (or earlier), then I will need help. Lots of help.

I am dead serious. Werewolf Intense (Dubbed Werewolf Hell by its players) is my next project.

And are you saying you're intrested in participating, but cant decide what to do, or just dont want to play? Keep in mind this isnt going to happen anytime soon, I just want to broadcast that I will do this at somepoint when I lose the last vestige of my sanity, which is predicted to be after TARDIS V.

A few ideas to add to the Werewolf Intense heap.

Each player has a role, some individual roles (Baner, Seer, Devil) but most part of groups that vote, WWIX style to act in one way (with a few more, as you need more then four) or have some static/triggered ability (such as the "hunter" ability) however, such groups do not know each other, and they don't overlap with the Wolves. Hell for Korais and co, but would make the experience intense. Possibility: Masons are also assigned a group.
The game is divided into "pods" within each there is a Devil, Seer, Baner, Fool, etc. Each pod votes independently, Wolves kill within there own pod. however, scry's and the Masonic brotherhood can cross pod borders. When a pod would count as a victory for either side, the remaining players are transfered to the remaining pod(s). However, it is not revealed which side won, (as well as # of wolves is kept secret) but roles are revealed at death. (Only give-away is that the Devil must be killed for villager win) At the end of the last pod, the winners/roles are revealed.

Possible first idea groups:

RBers-Scry, as they can work together to find the truth
Townees- Hunters, as they can RP some freakin' cool death scenes.
Convention Goers- Masons
Homebrewers-Night Protection by playing D&D all night long with the target
The pbp players- Kinda like Rockstar Bands, they know a few people to be guiltless.

130 People dead? Werewolf Hell is a massacre! :smalleek: :smalltongue:

Anyway, on a completely different, but related, issue: Alchemists is recruiting on October 22. Radikalskippy and I will be narrating it. I am here posting the rules we've worked on fixing lately.

Ideas and opinions are very welcome (Please?).

Alchemists
The Basic Scenario:
The players are all Alchemists from all over he world coming to take the Alchemist test and become State Alchemists. Hundreds of Alchemists apply but only about 30-40 manage to pass the written exam. The Director of the Academy then informs the Alchemists about the presence of people who infiltrated the exam, passing as Alchemists, and these people are not human. Their plans are not known, but it can't be anything good.

The Roles
The Homunculi
Father (Alpha): The leader of the Homunculi. Although he is a Human, he counts as a Homunculus. Father is the only one who may recruit Chimeras (see recruitment). Scries as Human, unless scried by Sloth, in which he Scries as himself.

Pride: If anyone tries to scry him, kill him, or any other such ability, even if it is Lujor, he will be told about it. He will even be told who it was. Being protected by Armstrong or Hohenheim does not trigger this ability. Scries as Homunculus.

Lust: Has the ability to execute a personal kill every second night. The kill has a 50% success chance. Scries as Homunculus.

Sloth (Devil): Once per night, she has the ability to Scry another player. Scries as Homunculus.

Wrath: The only Homunculus with the power of Alchemy. He can recruit Alchemists by transforming them into Chimeras, but only if they agree. Greed, Hohenheim, Sheska, and Greed’s Chimeras cannot be recruited. Due to his inexperience in practical Alchemy, the recruited Chimera will be random. He will only be informed on whether recruitment was successful or not. Wrath may recruit 4 times throughout the whole game. After transforming a player into a Chimera, Wrath needs one night to recover before attempting it again. (See recruitment.) Scries as Homunculus.

Envy(Cat): Wins if, and only if, Hohenheim is killed. He doesn't care about dying, just about seeing Hohenheim dead. He may scry one person per night, but unless it’s Hohenheim, his results will always return as “Alchemist.” Similarly, if Hohenheim is scried by the Seer or Devil, the results will be “Alchemist”. Scries as Homunculus

Gluttony (Beast): If Gluttony is killed, he selects one player and takes him down as well. Scries as Homunculus.

The Chimeras
Chimera: They have Homunculi winning conditions, but they count as neither side. Scry as Chimeras. They only appear if Wrath successfully recruits an Alchemist, so there are no Chimeras at the beginning.

Greed’s Chimera: There two of them at the beginning. Unlike the regular Chimera, they count as Alchemists and have Alchemist winning conditions. They can only win if Greed survives. Cannot be recruited by the Homunculi unless Greed is dead. Unlike the regular Chimera, these two know who each other are, as well as who Greed is. They each have one personal Scry. Scry as Chimera.

The Alchemists:
Alchemists (Villagers): They have no special powers. They win if all the Homunculi die. Scry as Alchemist.

Greed: Although he is a Homunculus, he wants nothing to do with them. He cares only about his own survival. He wins if he survives the game. He has the ability to execute a personal kill. He counts as an Alchemist, but he Scries as a Chimera when Scried by the Homunculi, and as a Homunculus when Scried by the Alchemists. The Fool will always see him as an Alchemist.

Major Alex Louis Armstrong (Baner): The bodyguard. Every night, he selects another player to protect. That player cannot be killed that night. He cannot protect himself. Has Alchemist winning conditions, and he scries as an Alchemist.

Private Sheska (Seer): The Librarian. Using her extreme scientifical knowledge, she is able to see who people really are, being able to Scry once per night. She has Alchemist winning conditions and scries as an Alchemist.

Coronel Roy Mustang: A high-ranking military official, his vote counts as two. Scries as Alchemist, and has Alchemist winning conditions.

Lt. Colonel Maes Hughes: One of the best military officers there is. Hughes has an ability that protects him from being killed once. Scries as Alchemist, and has Alchemist winning conditions.

Hikari no Hohenheim (Day Baner/Mouse): AKA Hohenheim of Light, or simply Hohenheim. Envy’s sworn enemy. Wins by surviving. He also has the ability to protect one person from being lynched by day. He scries as Alchemist, unless scried by Envy.

Lujon (Fool): An Alchemist who had a relationship with Lust in the past. Though he is skilled, he is blinded by that past, and does not see anything as it is. Scries as Alchemist, and has Alchemist winning conditions.

First Liutenant Riza Hawkeye (Sniper): Hawkeye, one of the top military officers. She may attempt to execute a personal kill once every second night with a 50% chance of success. Scries as Alchemist, and has Alchemist winning conditions.

Barry the Chopper (Vengative Spirit): His spirit returns to kill one person after being Lynched. Scries as Alchemist, and has Alchemist winning conditions.

The Samurai Brothers (Vengative Spirit): Basically the Same as Barry the Chopper, but different for Role-Playing purposes. There are two. Scry as Alchemist, and have Alchemist winning conditions.

Scar: The only survivor of the Ishbalian tribe. He hates Alchemists and has sworn to destroy them, yet he knows the Homunculi are a Greater Evil. He is willing to work with the Alchemists, but because of different ideals, he cannot promise not to harm them. Once per night, Scar may select another player and have a random effect happen on that player. Effects will vary.
Scries as Alchemist, and has Alchemist winning conditions.

The Special Rules
On recruiting:
If Father is alive, he can recruit Chimeras to fill in the position of dead Homunculi. Dead Homunculi are replaced automatically as long as there are Chimeras available. He is informed of a successful recruitment, but he does not know who was recruited. He cannot select WHICH dead Homunculus he will replace. Homunculi are listed in order of importance. That is, if Sloth, Lust, and Gluttony are dead, Lust will be the resurrected Homunculus, as she takes priority over Sloth and Gluttony. If Pride were dead, however, Pride would be the first resurrected Homunculus, since he is higher on the list than Lust. Bear in mind that Greed cannot be replaced. Once Greed dies, he is truly dead.

If Father is dead, Homunculi can no longer be replaced, though Wrat can stll transform them into Chimeras.

Greed’s Chimeras can only be recruited if Greed is dead.

On night Killings:
Homunculi Night Killing Procedure: Homunculi send in a killing vote. The one with the most votes is killed. In case of a tie, the highest in rank decides it. The Homunculi are ranked as follows:

1 - Father
2 - Pride
3 - Lust
4 - Sloth
5 - Wrath
6 - Envy
7 - Gluttony

Homunculi team:
With the exception of Envy’s Cat rule, Homunculi have the same winning conditions. They all count for the same team, that is, they all win together or lose together. However, the issue at hand is that they do not know who all the other Homunculi are. It is their job to find the others in order to work as a team.

Alchemists: Watching FMA much, have we?

Homonculi: Sounds good... But limiting Recruitment like that is kinda weakening the role. And what do you mean "Recruited at Random" if the alchemist must consent?
Alchemists: Do the Samurai Bros. know who the other is? If so, then you should also attach the Lovers role to them.

Haruki-kun
2007-10-08, 08:44 AM
The Alchemist must consent, but Wrath doesn't get told who he recruited. He's just told whether he suceeded or not.

Skippy and I discussed weakening the recruitment because if the Homunculi get replaced easily, then they inevitably win, and we want it to be a little more balanced. Would it be better to remove the limit?

The Samurai Brothers....... we were thinking of having them know who each other is, but we hadn't considered the Lover's role.

Well, we didn't quite think about the recruitment method, although a list could serve. The thing about this is that we thought the Homunculi were really too powerful, so we decided to separate them, in order to make them a bit weaker. And if the Homunculi start without knowing each other, then we thought recruitment should follow the same mechanics.

Usualy, when you recruit somebody, they know who you are and you know who they are. Vlad knows who he turns into a vamp in Vampires, so I have no reason why you shouldnt know who your teammates are after you start the game, especialy those that you recruited yourself. As written, it seems as if Wrath must be in contact with the afformentioned Alchemist to Chimera-ize them.

Well, it would solve the problem of only Sloth being able to find the others..... plus it would only advantage Wrath, and his abilitis are suppose to advantage him........

No thanks needed. I'm just saying: The limit is fine, its the fact that Wrath doesnt know who he recruits. If Wrath is recruiting, then he should know who hes recruiting. Also, make a clause that states that if The Homonculi decide to kill a person that turns out to be a homonculi, then they should become aware of the others status. Ala Vampire.

On auto-lynches.

OK people.
Enough is enough.

If you don't have enough time to play a game....
Don't sign up!
If you're already in too many games....
Don't sign up for any more!

Not playing a game that you signed up for is annoying to the narrators.
It's annoying to the people that are playing.
It makes life easy on the bad guys because they know who they can ignore.
Anything that makes life easy on the bad guys makes it harder on the good guys.
That means that you are only hurting the people on your team.

I have devised a way to track these occasions throughout many games, and have considered the possibility of not allowing certain players notorious for this action into the next iteration of Vampire, whenever it happens.

Stating that you are pointing only to avoid auto-lynch should not save you from autolynch. In fact, it shoud ensure that you get auto-lynched, in my opinion, because it tells the narrators that you aren't paying any attention at all. If you're not paying attention, you should not continue the game.

This is becoming a bigger and bigger problem in every WW style game out there. People sign up, get their roles, see that they have a cool role in a certain game, and ignore all others.
This should not be tolerated.

Please do us all a favor and let yourself get auto-lynched if you don't have the time to play.
Or better yet. Don't sign up at all!

Give us all a break, huh?

Zeb, Helgraf:
What do the two of you think about adding a clause about "pointing to avoid auto" in our current games?
Doing so should ensure that the player does in fact get auto'd, should it not?

banjo1985
2007-10-08, 10:47 AM
Agreed. I personally try to give my best to all the games I join, and have sat out of survival and rockstar because I feel I haven't the time to give them my full attention. It makes it easier for the groups in a game to strategise if everyone in it posts regularly and keeps up to date on a thread.

Maybe a limit on the number of players in each game would help, say maybe 30? Then everyone could express their interest and the final 30 could be picked from all of those? Probably wouldn't solve anything, just a suggestion.

The problem with that is that there *might* be a slight favouritism and the veterens may always be chosen.

*shrugs* Can't really talk though. Been trying to cut down on my games for the autolynch reason, but didn't manage to get to Vampire fast enough. *sigh*

Shadow
2007-10-08, 10:52 AM
And limiting the number of players is the choice of the narrators.
Not ours.
If you run a game, feel free to limit it as you see fit, but we shouldn't make a blanket rule like that.

Korias

I agree. Thats one of the major things that I dont like: You suddenly sign up for a game and then the player doesnt show up. This happened with TARDIS, but I wont divulge the details until the game ends.

Shadow, can you add Werewolf Intense to the list of Upcoming games?

Helgraf

Zeb, Helgraf:
What do the two of you think about adding a clause about "pointing to avoid auto" in our current games?
Doing so should ensure that the player does in fact get auto'd, should it not?

I think some players use the phrase "pointing to avoid autolynch" to hide the real reason why they point at someone so they don't draw suspicion. If you don't have any real clue who to point at, well, welcome to the club. It's not unusual to be in that situation in an werewolf style game, in fact, that's part of the bloody theme - the whole fact that you're in a situation where you can't _really_ know who is guilty and who is not.

On a tangent, my personal peeve is pointing at yourself. Personally I think you shouldn't be allowed to point at yourself as it's the exact same thing as choosing not to vote, only it lets you avoid autolynch. You're supposed to point at _someone_ ... and yes, that might mean you get some suspicion on you. Too bad - that's part of how the game works. There shouldn't be a way to avoid the potential liability that pointing involving during the lynch phase, period. Choose _someone_. You don't have to be "comfortable" with that choice - having to make hard choices and blind choices is part of what the game is all about, after all.

So personally, if we're going to put the kebob on "pointing to avoid auto-lynch" I think we should also forbid "pointing at oneself".

Haruki-kun
2007-10-08, 11:01 AM
I, personally, had to sit out from joining Rockstar, Zombies, Mafia and WW Classic, though I was dying to play.

I agree with the "I point at the narrator to avoid getting auto-lynched" thing. Even if you're just pointing randomly to stay in the game, you should't just out and say it.

But I agree with Castaras. It might create favouritism to pick the players. How about giving the players a chance and getting them auto-lynched after the second day they don't vote instead of the first day? Whoops...... never mind that last bit.

EDIT: I also agree with Helgraf. Pointing at the Narrators or at yourself should not save anyone from an auto-lynch.

Korias
2007-10-08, 11:01 AM
Helgraf, that makes sense. Some people point at themselves because they cant decide who to vote for, and it gets annoying. Perhaps we should add a "Werewolf 2.0" Section to the starting posts listing these helpful rules about auto-lynch and self points.

I don't think a rule is needed. I think that as a collective, the players need to go "okay, if you point at yourself, we'll all point at you" if it is as big a problem as people seem to think it is. A few games of "I pointed at myself and suddenly found myself on the end of a 7 person bandwagon" and people will stop doing it.

I enjoy having the option of pointing at myself becuase while I do attempt to show love to all games I'm in, somedays it doesn't happen. Some weeks I'm busy, some weeks I have company over, some weeks one game flairs up and the others have to take a bit of a backseat until the drama of which of the two people claiming to be the Seer is the real one and which is a filthy devil and I have 4 full length PM's to read and decipher and I glance over at "Whosawolf VII" and I know that its day is ending in 4 hours, but "Villagewolfsnack Classic" is ending its day in 3 hours and I'm going to play "Munchkin Cthulhu" in 30 minutes and I don't really have the time or energy to pick someone in "Whosawolf VII" so I point at myself.

Tardis I has ended. Tardis II, The Hunt for the Doctor, will be next on the schedule.

Changes:

Gone are the 3 agitator groups. There will be one group, but chooseable version, each with a different power.

Cybermen: Cybermen may, once every other night, mask the identity of someone to appear to be another role.
Torchwood: Operatives may access the database, and every other night, may perform two scries.
Daleks: Daleks have better equipment, and every other night can kill TWO people, instead of one.

The Time Lord in disguise will appear again, as will Capitan Jack (Except he will be immune for the first kill only.)

New Roles:

Keeper of the Pocket Watch (Necromancer): Every four nights, you may revive somebody that has died. Their role is randomized upon their revival.
The Face of Boe: If he dies, he selects one person. This person cannot be lynched/killed during the next phase.
Vespe (in honor of his work as Co-Narrator) (Day Baner): May use his rapiers to defend someone before they are lynched. Scries as Human.
Shadow (Beserker): When Shadow is killed, one random person is taken with him. If he was killed by the Wolves, he takes out one random wolf.

Theres to be a slight change in plans.

First: I'm releasing reigns of TARDIS, but Claiming TARDIS II and III. All others may be passed around as wanted.

Second: Recruitment for TARDIS II Starts on the 22nd, and will end the 26th.

Third: Co-Narrarator Signups for WW Intense starts NOW.

List of things to do for WWIntense:

Rename Roles
Assign Mechanic: How do we want to divide votes? By "Pod"? Assign an equal number of the 160 to each Co-Narrarator?
Make a list of special events
Obtain a start date

I would like to run a WW-like game, I've been toying around with the idea for a bit and have come up with the following plan.

Memories erased, an alternate OotS story

Somewhere in the future or past of OotS the memories of most OotS characters has been erased, Xykon however has remembered his quest for the gates and has recruited people for his pledge.

Roles
Roy: Baner/wolf
Belkar: villager/Devil
Nale: Seer/wolf
Elan: Fool/wolf
Yik-Yik: villager/Demon*
Thog: Barbarian*/wolf
Xykon: impossible/Alpha*
Other: villager/wolf OR special*

*will be explained further

All roles (except Xykon) have both a good and evil side, if they are picked by Xykon they are the evil side, otherwise they are good.

Yik-Yik: Will be told he is Belkar, as such will think he's the Devil if he's evil, will get scry results as fool.

Thog will be told he's Roy, his protections are of no use whatsoever if he;s good.

Xykon: Alpha, will pick his allies after roles have been given.

Special: Some special roles will be included, these will only be explained to the one obtaining the role, the number of these depends on the number of players.

Items
There will be items in play, some of these will be given at the start, others will be planted in play, the details of these will be given to the one in posession of the item.

Notes
I was wondering if there were any people interested, I'm also looking for a co-narrator.

That might help, but........... it'll still take ages for Recruitment Hell (:smalltongue:). The thing is, you need 160 people who are willing to play this WW game, and who are free enough to play it. I can't even name that many people.....................................

Though I support your idea about usig the sigs, I suggest we assume from here on that WW Hell will take a LONG time (much emphasis on "long") to finish recruitment, let alone the game itself.......

True. Recruting is starting directly after TARDIS II (Or perhaps DURING, not sure yet), when my schedule suddenly frees up. Then, as soon as we hit 160, we will start handing out roles.

I've been working a few on my idea for Isaac Asimov's Robots ((Well, no, I've been procrastinating and suddenly ideas came to my mind in my sleep last night.))

Here's a few of the characters I'd like to have in my game:

The Robots:
Herbie (Devil)
Due to an unknown error in production, Herbie was created with the strange ability to read minds, an ability he uses to lie and deceive. Thanks to this ability, Herbie can easily determine the true identity of everyone. Scries as Robot

Nestor 10 (Not sure what will his characteristics be, I've got only a sketch on his background)
Nestor 10 was created with a special diminishment in the First Law. This made him a dangerous robot, with no respect for any human. His own purpose is to survive and prove himself smarter than any human. Scries as Robot.

The Humans:
Susan Calvin (Seer)
The most famous robopsychologist ever born, Susan Calvin has been rumored to be a robot herself. She understands them even better than she understands human beings, and so she can easily determine if one is a robot or not. Scries as Human.

Clinton Mandarian (Fool)
The heir of Susan Calvin, another smart robopsychologist. He is arrogant and thinks he can surpass her, but he will never be as good as her. He can try to determine if one is a robot or not, but his knowledge of humanity and robotics can be wrong sometimes. Scries as Human.

Both of them will be told at the beginning of the game they are Susan Calvin, and if each scries the other one, they will be told they scried Clinton Mandarian.

Robbie (Baner)
Robbie is a robot. One of the first models ever created. He is faithful to humans, and is not fit for complex tasks. He is useful only as a Nanny, and so he will make all that is in his power to protect the humans. Scries as Human.

Greg Powell & Mike Donovan (Lovers Partners)
These two gentlemen have lived a lot of adventures together, and they have been in several troubles because of the robots. Their lives have been risked lots of times, and they even died once because of a joker computer. Their experience working with robots is great, and now they will do whatever they can do to stop the robot threat. They will go everywhere together, even to the grave. They win if they both survive the entire game, and if one dies, so does the other one. They scry as Human.

Andrew Martin (Not sure what will his role be)
Born a robot, Andrew always had a strange wish: He wanted to be Human. After 200 years of struggle, and working to improve the quality of life of everyone around him, he was finally declared human. He will always work in favour of them. Scries as Human.

There are my thoughts about this game. I'd like to do something about the two characters without a role, and I'd like to introduce new roles as well. If anyone is interested in this idea, or if anyone has new ideas, I'd be pleased to hear you.

I'd like to start this game perhaps by the beginning of December, or something like that.

This here is my idea for a WW style game...

Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children: The Return of Sephieroth

The roles would be as follows:

Avalanche (Villager) Roles

Cloud Strife – You are Cloud, the troubled soul charged with taking Sephieroth down and protecting the rest of Avalanche. Your point counts as double in nominations. You scan as an Avalanche member. You can kill four types of random encounters if nominated to face them.

Aerith Gainsborough (Baner) – Your power granted to you by the Ancients allows you to protect someone overnight, preventing them from being killed. You scan as an Avalanche member. You can kill two types of random encounters if nominated to face them.

Tifa Lockhart (Seer) – You are Tifa, an astute judge of character and able Avalanche member. Your power lets you scan one person each evening to discern their role by PM’ing the narrators. The person you scan will come up as either Avalanche Member, Cait Sith, Child of Mako, Reno/Rude or Avalanche Command. You scan as an Avalanche member. You can kill two types of random encounters if nominated to face them.

Reno & Rude (The Lovers) – You are two former members of the Turks, who have stuck together despite all the changes that have happened in Midgar. If one of you is nominated to take on a random encounter, you can kill anything off either of your lists. If one of you is killed during the night, the other will counterattack, killing a Child of Mako but dying themselves in the process. You scan as Reno or Rude. Reno and Rude can each kill two types of random encounters if nominated to face them.

Avalanche Command (Barret, Vincent, Yuffie, Cid etc)(Masons) – You are a veteran Avalanche member from the events of the original FF7. You know who the other Avalanche Command are and which random encounters they can kill. You scan as Avalanche Command. Each of you can kill 3 of the 8 types of random encounters if nominated to face them.

Cait Sith (Fool) – You are a well meaning but bumbling Avalanche Member. You will be told you are Tifa Lockhart, but you’re scanning ability will result in a random role being PM’d to you. If you scan Tifa Lockhart she will scan as Cait Sith, and vice versa. You can kill two types of random encounters if nominated to face them.

Avalanche Members (Villagers) – You are an enthusiastic but inexperienced member of Avalanche. You try to survive while routing out the Children of Mako. You scan as an Avalanche Member. Each of you can kill 2 of the 8 types of random encounters if nominated to face them.
Children of Mako (Werewolf) Roles

Sephieroth (Alpha) – You are Sephieroth, child of Jenova and Mako-enhanced madman. Your goal is to take down Cloud and the rest of Avalanche. You can recruit up to two people during the game to join you as Children of Mako by PM’ing the narrators, who will send your offer to them. If they accept you will be put into contact with them. Your point counts as double in nominations. You scan as an Avalanche Member. You can kill four types of random encounters if nominated to face them.

Yazoo (Devil) – You are Kadaj, Child of Mako and diviner of intent. You have the same abilities as Tifa Lockhart, except that you scan as a Child of Mako. You do not begin the game in contact with the other Children of Mako.

Kadaj & Loz (Werewolves) – You are Mako-enhanced humans and protégés of Sephieroth. You start in contact with each other and Sephieroth himself. You scan as Children of Mako. You can kill two types of random encounters if nominated to face them.

Children of Mako (Recruits) – You are the turncoats that agree to join with the Children of Mako during the game, becoming infused with Mako energy and preying on your former friends. You have the same abilities as Kadaj & Loz.
Special Rules

The game follows the normal WW rules, which can be found here, except for the following changes:

- At the beginning of each day at least one random encounter will attack the city of Midgar. The encounter will be decided randomly from the following list:

- Behemoth
- Bomb
- Cactuar
- Chimera
- Flan
- Garuda
- Marlboro
- Tonberry

- Rather than voting to lynch someone, people point during the day to nominate someone to go outside the city and face the encounter. If they can kill that type of encounter then they survive and stay in the game, if not they die and their role is made public knowledge.

- On days where there are two or more random encounters, people must point at two or more people.
Everything else occurs as normal existing WW games.

Victory Conditions

Avalanche win when there are no Children of Mako left.

Children of Mako win when there are more of them remaining than there are Avalanche Members.
So what do you think? Would this work? It makes killing the power roles by accident more difficult, and gives people more chance of surviving, so I’m expecting it to last for longer than a standard werewolf game with the same amount of participants.

I’m open to suggestions on balance and changes, as it would be my first try at running a WW game. I’m also looking for a co-narrator if anyone would be interested in this.

I’m thinking of starting this early in December, to give chance for Fatbelly to finish and for a few other WW games to wrap up, but this is open to change if not convenient for the majority.

Walk us through it........... What else happens?

Are there other roles besides the Seer, Devil, and all the fools?

EDIT: Yes, I see Alphas and Baners, but anything else?

No. I didn't think there were any other roles in paranoia. Instead of not knowing who counts for points, no one knows who's right with their scries.

Banjo,

That looks really good. I especially like the changes to the lovers. Typically they are just a big disadvantage, this makes them mildly more powerful.

My suggestions:
For Kadaj & Loz. Depending on the number of players you might need more or less starting werewolves. If you plan on limiting this to a certain number of players that might be just right though. (And I can definitely see limiting the size of this one)

The Devil: you didn't specify how many random encounters it can defeat.

I was going to suggest maybe allowing some roles to change which encounters they can defeat as a 'just for fun' type of thing. But I think figuring out who can defeat what might be an important (and fun) part of the game, so I think I'd argue against that at this point.

Just a few people will be "sure" of their role.

Thanks Raldor for your views and advice. I forgot to put the devils kills in, it would be able to take down two types of encounter. I was basing the number of wolves on getting 25-30 players, I’d either limit sign-ups to 30 or add one or more Children of Mako at the start, reducing the alphas recruiting ability by the same margin. I have been considering listing the type on encounters the power roles can kill before the game starts, but I’m unsure as to whether this would make them too vulnerable, or maybe add to the tactics, e.g. someone claims to be Cloud, you could throw him against something the role can kill, see if he survives!

Korias, Pwenet, I am looking for a co-narrator when the time comes to start the game. I’m going to wait until I’ve finished Fatbelly, hopefully Zombies and YOW will have wrapped up by then, thinning out my games a bit. I’m thinking that this would start somewhere in mid-late November, and if either of you were able to co-narrate with me then it would be appreciated.

Thanks Haruki-kun for your enthusiasm! Based on everyone’s positive comments I’ll start looking for a suitable recruiting and starting time. Does anyone have any opinions on whether I should make the encounters the power roles can kill common knowledge?

Hello -

I'd like to generate a list of items that have been added/used in WW games.

Either one use items, or items that have changed hands, etc.

For example, in Mafia V one of the players got a pair of Binoculars that offered a 75% scry. It was a one-use item.

What were some other items, how well did they work? I'd like to create a list that I can reference when I run WW VI.

Just a few people will be "sure" of their role.

So maybe have fake baners? I'm thinking a Van Helsing-ish theme.

GOOD GUYS
Van Helsing (Night Baner): He has learned to kill all manner of evil creatures of the night. He can defend one person each night from the SoD. If the protected person is attacked, Van Helsing also kills a random SoD. However, because he was infected, he can scry as any role.

Carl (Real Seer): This monk knows how to identify the SoD from the Villagers. Scries as Carl or Villager.

Other monks (Fools/villagers): They all think that they are as good as Carl. But they aren't. Always scry Carl as a fool, and are always scried truthfully by him. Otherwise scryed as Villager or Carl.

Anna Valerious (Day Baner): Anna Has the ability to sway the crowd away from someone. They are protected from lynching, and whoever had the second most points is lynched. Scries as Villager or Anna. In addition, the role of lover is turned into a double bladed knife. Anna and Velkan fill this role.

BAD GUYS
Velkan Valerious/werewolf (Alpha): Velkan has been infected by Dracula, and now he is the leader of Dracula's spawn. If he is alive, any SoD victims are converted to SoD. Scries as Villager. Is the other end of the Lovers with Anna

Count Vladislaus Dracula (Devil): Dracula has created the Spawn of Darkness by infecting Velkan's victims with vapirism. He can use his dark powers to discern the identity of one person per night. Scries as Dracula or SoD.

Verona, Marishka, and Aleera (WW Fools): Dracula's three wives, and they all think they can control the dark powers like he can. Scry as Dracula or SoD.

Spawn of Darkness (WW): These are Velkan's victims after Dracula infects them with vapirism. They don't know who each other are at the begining.

Alright, what do you think? And just clearing this up, Until Velkan is killed, the target of the SoD's is kept secret and handle via PM. Yes, Velkan can be killed by the SoD.

Quite interesting. I like the lovers overlapping like that. At least the role isn't so much a burden on one side as an obstacle for both sides.

EDIT: I do have one issue i just noticed, though. Does that mean Anna can't win? I mean, if she's on the good guys' side, she has to kill the opposite side in order to stop them, including Velkan. If Velkan dies, she dies, therefore loses. But if the bad guys win, she loses too. What happens with that?

Vhaidara
2007-10-30, 07:42 AM
Basicly, I'm thinking that Velkan, Anna, and Van Helsing all win if Dracula dies and they're still alive. And actually, I'm changing it a little. If Anna will be lynched, Velkan jumps in to save her, kills a random person, gets killed by VH, and then the lynch continues. If Velkan is attacked by the blind SoD (they don't know it's him), Anna appears and kills one before being overwhelmed with Velkan. So basicly, they protect the each other from their sides form of lynch. And no, despite being the lovers, because of the lover specific roles, they don't know who the other is. Anna won't die if Velkan is lynched, and Velkan won't die if Anna is WWed.

Hm, we've already got a vampire game going on, but another one wouldn't hurt, I suppose. Not sure if now is the right time though, as there are several games still running, and even more about to start up. If you want to avoid a lot of autolynches I suggest waiting a while.
That, or making sure that you attract enough people by campaigning for it quite a bit (Alchemists for example, seems to have brought in a surprising lot of new players, despite the current oversaturated schedule, so it's definitely possible).

A few things:
Turning every villager into a fool will be a nightmare to keep track of. You really, really don't want to receive 30+ scry requests every single night phase. A couple of fake seers (say, 4-5) might not be a bad idea though.
Anna: You could give Anna some sort of single-use antidote item she could use on Velkan to cure his werewolf status (the trick being, of course, figuring out who Velkan is). But that goes hand in hand with certain concepts you don't want to touch on, such as 'turning a bad guy into a good one' (once that happens, the game is completely over, since Velkan will know most, if not all of the vampires).

If Anna will be lynched, Velkan jumps in to save her, kills a random person, gets killed by VH, and then the lynch continues.

That seems needlessly complicated to me. :smallconfused:

Personally, I'd just ditch the Anna-Velkan 'lovers' concept. She got over his death it in the movie, so why not here as well?

My biggest gripe with Anna is the following: the day baner is somewhat counterproductive to the villagers. If the day baner has to interfere, it means the villagers are lynching the wrong person anyway. So rather than doing something right, the day baner prevents people from doing something wrong. In other words, the day baner isn't all that important to the village.
(Of course, that's a bit irrelevant anyway, since he/she will end up protecting him/herself most of the time anyway).

The point is: what's to stop Anna from simply declaring her role at the start of the game? Or hinting at it in an unsubtle manner? Or insigating a lynch mob through a proxy she PM'd? The villagers only lose the day baner, whereas the SoD's lose their alpha and their recruiting ability. This is - by all means - a perfect deal for the villagers. There is no reason for them not to do this, yet it breaks the game in half from day one.

Velkan: (assuming the Anna angle is fixed somewhat)
Personally, I'd just make Dracula the bad guy. Velkan is really only a secondary character. There's no need to elevate him to überbadguy status.

That being said, the concept of turning all SoD victims into SoD's themselves is pretty neat (since no one will actually die at night), but it also means daily recruitment.
Daily recruitment, is insanely powerful. This is by far the biggest balance issue that needs to be adressed. Yes, even if this ability requires Velkan to be alive.

Verona, Marishka, Aleera: Same rationale as the monks. Adding too much fools to the game results in PM overkill for the narrators.

Alright, what do you think? And just clearing this up, Until Velkan is killed, the target of the SoD's is kept secret and handle via PM. Yes, Velkan can be killed by the SoD.

Hm, who knows eachother actually? Does Velkan know who Dracula is? Does Dracula know who his wives are? (Etc.)

I'd also add a few more roles to spice things up a bit. Unfortunately the movie gives you little room to work with, but nothing stops you from adding more characters to the mix, such as Jekyll/Hyde or that undertaker guy.
Of couse, you can also think up new roles/groups altogether. A few masons, some items... Perhaps you could give Verona, Marishka & Aleera some sort of minor ability too.
Just throwing out a few ideas here.

Just throwing out a few ideas here.

It's paranoia, no one knows who anyone is. Dracula and his wives are all told that they're Dracula. Hell, since the SoD and Velkan don't know who they end up attacking due to no coordination, they don't know who they new guy is. Anna-Velkan was intended to balance it out for the recruitment, giving another way to kill the recruiting Alpha.

I changed it to three fake seers per team. I thought masons didn't fit in with Paranoia type games? And I felt that Dracula was the best choice for seer, especially since that left me with three ready-made WW fools. I wanted to include Anna, but couldn't think of any other role for her. The conditional situation was largely to make it possible for Anna to win.

And Shadow, the game will likely start over either Thankgiving or Christmass holiday when I have time to type these things. Provided it isn't taken, I'd like to reserve one of them.

[Nerdy Nitpick]The Huttese gangsters and Bounty Hunters often work together, so that may not work. Also, the Hunters work for anyone with money. How about Imperial agents? Now that's group clash. [/Nerdy Nitpick]

Also, if you want to make lovers an interesting role, give 'em abilities. Current Identities would make for a Emperor or similar for Leia (she's a politician) and maybe a semi scry for Han (smuggler and was and Imp graduate). Other options include making the pair the droids (which could work) or a Jedi duo (Luke/Mara or Jania/Jacen come to mind). But the Solos as a role that relies on someone else is heavy in irony.

Retainer: effectively a knight who knows king Arthur
Tim the Enchanter: Seer

Yeah. I'd like to apologise for this sudden alteration as it's mostly all my fault. This is beacuse I have one exam around about the 17th of January (only one. Stupid time for an exam) and pretty much all Dec will be revision for me. And any time before that is inconvenient for one of us due to family.
Also March is an exchange trip for one week so it'd be pretty rude to post here. Then May-June/July is all exams for me so...this is the best slot.
Once again apologies for the sudden bumping up of the game. But it will be very very good.

Tasters of writing and maybe some special features will probably come in around the endish part of November. It all depends.

Of course, it is empty now. Alarra and I are working hard to make it a helpful tool for everyone here, with stats of the players, game summaries, new role ideas and whatever comes to our minds. It is, of course, a work for all the community, and as a Wiki it can be modified by lots of people. For security matters, only people with permission may add or edit pages in the wiki, of course, but that doesn't mean I (or Alarra) will keep the right to modify the wiki to ourselves. If anyone of you is willing to help us with this project, you may PM me or Alarra so we can send you an invitation to colaborate.

Thanks everyone!

^ I think this is a great idea, I'd be happy to help with bits and pieces, though I don't exactly have a wealth of WW knowledge. It would be great to have everything in one place, basic rules, links to the calendar site...once it comes together it'll be a great tool!

I'm not sure how much time I'll be able to devote to it with Advent Children starting tomorrow, but I'm happy to help.

I've double-checked both the links in my sig and the link in the last page, and they are both working. Probably the site was temporarily down for mantainance. Check it again please, I've got confirmation from other people that it is working right...

*cough hack wheeze*

Okay, after a nine day absence, I've finally got connectivity again. Had to replace the cable modem entirely (which meant dealing with the cable company) ... I'm sure I've died left and right all over the place and I'm not sure I want to know what happened in Vampire, but I'll be catching up over the next couple of days anyway. ;)

Nothing has happened in Vampire, you know...

Just a post to tell everyone that Final Fantasy Advent Children: The Return of Sephiroth is now recruiting, and will be until the 10th or we get 35 players, whichever comes first.

I just had a really interesting/terrible idea for a WW game. I'm not going to run it, but if I can get some solid thoughts into it today, I'll post what I came up with. I think people may get a kick out of it.

*Has sudden Idea*

It's the Monty Python and the Holy Grail Werewolf!

It is time for King arthur to attack the castle unnnnnngh... and gain the holy grail, but the French shall attempt to Taunt them away! WHO WILL WIN!

Roles:
Good

King Arthur: Baner, also knows the retainer
Knights of the round table: Masons, consist of 5 people: Sir Robin, Sir Gallahad, Sir Lancelot, Sir Beneviere, and sir not appearing in this movie.
Knights: villagers
Retainer: effectively a knight who knows king Arthur
Tim the Enchanter: Seer
The old man in the woods: Fool
Evil

The French King: Alpha
The French: werewolves
And Don't Come back, or I taunt you a second time!: taunter: will be not explained (think the skill monkey from Revo 4)
Well it could be an African swallow: Devil

And there will be random events, following the path of the movie, so maybe on day 2 they find the knights of ni, or something unusual like that.

This one sounds fun. I might be willing to help narrate it.

On a side note, Camp Sleeps-A-Lot will be finishing up soon, and I have begun some work with Camp Sleep S'More :smallamused: .

Timeliness will be improved, new roles and activities added, and more exciting changes. I won't start it until probably after Christmas... just to give some of the other big games some room.

A BIG note regarding this site: http://wolvesitp.wikispaces.com/

This is for us! It's a great resource - that needs to be filled - for our WW games. Thanks to RS and Alarra for organizing it - now GO AND POPULATE IT!
