[M&M 2nd ed] Published adventures with more lower PL characters

Is there a hard arithmetic for how to balance/edit an adventure for a lower PL group with more players?

Let's say the meat of the published adventure has a PL 9 non-combatant type enemy and a PL 11 combat-heavy guy, normally balanced for four PL 10 heroes

So if we had, say . . . ten PL 8 heroes, what do I need to add/subtract to prevent the PL 11 guy from getting swarmed/the little highschool kids from being absolutely slaughtered?

Rule of thumb: double the numbers is about +2 PL, so 10 PL8s is around the same as 5 PL10s.
