Lots of dumping on Tritons by some locally.

So, what classes make effective Triton Characters?

All classes make effective Triton Characters.

Making an ineffective PC in 5e demands research and effort, to making an effective one just require to write down a class and a race on the character sheet.

Most effective would be paladin. If you play AL then you can put a 15 in charisma con and strength. With a Plus 1 to all those stats you get a 3 modifier for all those stats.

They line up well with Berserkers as well; and Valor bards. Of course, lots of classes like STR+CON or CHA+CON

This. Str based paladins and bladelocks, valor and swords bards, those seems most logical cause they need all 3 stats. But for any str fighter or cha caster, it works fine. The racial abilities besides stats are nice as well, imo. Nothing too spectacular, but a few extra spells, and water breathing and swim speed are really decent. Can imagine players don't like the fluff when enforced though.

Although the stats don’t line up great, I like the ability of swimming in intense water depths with a Gloomstalker’s darkvision+invisibility
