So rock gnomes get this ability:

Artificer’s Lore. Whenever you make an Intelligence (History) check related to magic items, alchemical objects, or technological devices, you can add twice your proficiency bonus, instead of any proficiency bonus you normally apply.

And knowledge domain clerics get this ability:

Blessing of Knowledge. At 1st level, you learn two languages of your choice. You also become proficient in your choice of two of the following skills: Arcana, History, Nature, or Religion.

Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses either of those skills.

The rules say this about applying proficiency to a roll:

Occasionally, your proficiency bonus might be multiplied or divided (doubled or halved, for example) before you apply it. For example, the rogue’s Expertise feature doubles the proficiency bonus for certain ability checks. If a circumstance suggests that your proficiency bonus applies more than once to the same roll, you still add it only once and multiply or divide it only once.

How should I read that last sentence though? Artificer's lore specifically states you add your proficiency bonus twice while it states you can only ever add it once. Assuming the former is correct, can you apply both bonuses to an appropriate check? To my eyes it suggests you can use blessing of knowledge to double your proficiency for the check and then use artificer's lore to add that proficiency twice. The rule does say "and" suggesting you can make one multiplication and one addition.

Blessing of knowledge lets you use your doubled proficiency bonus. Artificer's Lore gives you the option of instead replacing that with double your proficiency bonus.
