Two spells I thought up while not doing much, I just want some opinions on them

Icarian flight
Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 1
Components: V,S,F
Casting time: 1 standard action
Range: close
Target: one person
Duration: one round.
Saving throw: Fort negates
Spell resistance: Yes

Icarian flight causes the target to grow wings and uncontrolably fly 10 feet/level (higher) in the air, and any non-magical means of flight are negated.

Focus: A bit of wax and a feather

Magical Phenomenon
Enchantment(Mind effecting)
level:Sor/Wiz 7, Brd 5
Components S, V or M
Casting time: 1 hour
Target: one way of mass communitcation
Duration: 1 month/3 levels
Saving throw: Will negates
Spell resistance: yes

Magical phenomenon causes a outbreak of anything that can be sent through the target(must have at least ten people using the target frequently). Anyone who encounters the message or other propaganda must make a save or else the target believes(Suffering or giving a penalty to a skill check against target of caster's choice), Finds it funny(and is effected by tasha's hideous laughter randomly), Or becomes more susceptible to the spells of the caster(taking a -1/ two levels penalty to any saves from the spells of the creature affected, maxing out at -5). One of these effects are choosen at casting. Either way, someone effected spreads the word to anyone they know via any method possible, spreading the phenomenon like a virus. The person also suffers the effects listed with the choice the caster made.

Material component: If needed, the spell requires you to write out or otherwise illustrate the message.

Cast icarian flight on a foe who's completely surrounded, and you get eight attacks of opportunity against him. :smallbiggrin:

Magical Phenomenon sounds like a funny spell to cast. But even with the absurd duration, it doesn't seen to be such a powerful effect, I would drop it to 7° level for Sor/Wiz and 5° level for Bard.

But you must specify the durations a bit more, as it is now, a poor fella who fails his save may laught incontrolably for the next... 5 years at least.

And the number of attacks this poor guy would suffer if he was surrounded by people with pole weapons.

Changed years to months and lowered the levels... how is it now?

Nope, just eight.

X = attackers
O = target

But, considering a very large number of enemies, some of them with pole weapons we have:

DDDDD
DXXXD
DXOXD
DXXXD
DDDDD

O = target.
X = attackers with normal weapons.
D = attackers with pole weapons.

Nasty. The Leadership feat just got a bit more atractive.

Flight does 1d6 damage per level of the caster, up to 20d6, on many classes of targets. Plus it generates AoO from the target taking off, and it nullifies many actions by the target for a single round.

Overall, that isn't a level 1 spell.

(the falling damage should be mentioned, btw)

I agree. That's a bit too powerful for a level one spell for pretty much the same reasons Yakk gave.

I'd suggest capping the flight-height at 50 feet (max 5d6 damage from fall). Make the movement so fast (Monty Python's Holy Grail Moment: Think the Bridgekeeper's fling to incorrect answers) that no AoOs allowed unless the attacker has a readied action... Maybe allow a Reflex save for partial damage from the fall?
