What is the highest base ac armor that is compatible with chahar-aina and dastana? It needs to count as padded, leather, or chain shirt to be consider compatible.

mammoth leather, chain shirt, or mithral chain shirt all grant +4. of those, go with mcs, like with any normal character.

The dastana and cahar-aina aren't for AC. They're for armour abilities that explicitly stack so you can save a buck/ have a much higher cap on non-epic armor.

Understandable. However, sometimes due to campaign setting, availability of materials, etc. may not always be doable. This is why I was wondering if there is any 'padded, leather, or chain shirt' - esque armors that are higher than a base +4 before mods and compatible with those two. Pretty much have a variety of options.

Sidenote- can a cahar-aina and dastana have the 'reinforced' property from dragon mag applied to them?

If you can't expect to get level appropriate magical gear, don't play something that relies on it. The GM is stealth nerfing those classes, whether or not he realizes or intends it. Just get the heaviest regular armour you're comfortable with and whack it with magic vestment.

To answer your question though, there's no text limiting the accessory armors from using special materials or armour templates so those options and others like them should work fine. I'm not familiar with "reinforced" in particular but I can't imagine any reason it shouldn't be applicable.

Chain shirt + dastana + chahar-aina = total AC bonus of +6, which puts it on par with split or banded mail, and better than a breastplate or chainmail. For light armor, that's fantastic. However, if the DM rules that adding the chahar-aina makes the whole arrangement count as medium armor... that's still excellent coverage for medium armor.

The text says:

"Restriction: May only be applied to armor."

Based on some of the other examples in the article, this means it can't be applied to weapons. Some other mastercraft properties can only be applied to metal armor. So based on this, yes. You can add the "Reinforced" property to both the dastana and chahar-aina.
