So I know that Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is coming out (which looks awesome by the way), and I was thinking of maybe doing a campaign with my friends in the meantime that takes place entirely in the city of Waterdeep. However, I can't figure out which 5e books have content pertaining to this city.

If anyone can tell me which books (or even unearthed arcana) that I should look for, to do this campaign, that would be SUPER AWESOME.

Thank you for your help.

The Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide may give you some general info on Waterdeep as well as this «teaser» article (https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/243-welcome-to-waterdeep-an-introduction-to-the-city) for the upcoming adventure.

I hope this can help

There is a veritable crap-ton of material on Waterdeep out there from previous editions. Just use that and alter the extremely small portion that relies on crunch, because the vast majority of it is fluff and will port with no changes.

Are there any good 5e adventures that I could perhaps do with the party (currently 4-5 4th lvl characters) in the meantime?

I was thinking of maybe doing either a Storm King's Thunder adventure or Yawning Portal while also introducing a NPC that is trying to prepare them for the heist. An NPC who views himself as an opposition to Mordenkainen and his beliefs on "balance."
